Save Yourself the Trouble -- Avoid This Avis WINDY HILL MARIETTA Branch! This location has failed me twice, both experiences were incredibly frustrating and costly. First experience: I reserved a premium vehicle and was given a mid-size SUV instead. On top of that, they charged me $236 more than my original reservation! When I raised it, the staff pushed me to call customer service. Total waste of time, customer service said the issue should've been handled at the branch before the rental. But by then, I had no choice since I had a trip to make and ended up losing that money. Second experience (today): I had a paid reservation and showed up on time. The front desk rep took my name, confirmed the reservation, and told me to wait while he processed vehicle returns. 30 minutes later, he finally tells me: "Oh yeah, I don't have any cars available until tomorrow." No urgency, no apology, just handed me the number for customer service and moved on. This branch is consistently disorganized. Staff always seem flustered, overwhelmed, and poorly trained. They also run an Uber service which seems to take precedence. The office is unkempt and has none of the professionalism I've seen at other Avis locations. No courtesy calls, no heads-up, nothing. Anyway, After over an hour on the phone with various customer service reps, I was finally sent to another location an hour away. The worst! First, no one was at the front desk and there was no sign or anything to indicate what to do/expect. Second, a guy finally came out and said he was using the bathroom. Um, thanks. The worst part is, while I made a reservation 2 days ago, they don't have any cars like the Seinfeld episode. Then the dude hides behind 'Corporate allows the bookings to continue and we are independently owned' sure, whatever. No call from them to alert they could not honor the reservation and worse even, dude finally says he has one car. You guessed it, it costs more, and no, he can't adjust the rate because 'he'd get in trouble'. Fix your crappy systems so that you can do right by your customers! If you know this is a limitation of your systems, limit the damage you do to your customer relations by communicating proactively with your customers and avoid issues like this. Buckle up. I scheduled a car rental online two days in advance. When I got there, I gave my name and said I'm picking up my car. The first thing the clerk said was "We don't have any cars." What? I got a confirmation email and two reminders (also asking me to purchase collision protection and paid tolls). I also got an email asking me to save time by pre-paying online. I told her this, and she asked if I ordered online. I had. She said, "That's Corporate. We're an independent branch and Corporate doesn't talk to us. They don't know what cars we have or don't have." What? Her face was dead as a stone. She'd clearly had this same conversation with customers many times before. "But I can see you in the system," she continued, "so the very next car that comes in is yours." What? You're closing in 50 minutes. And, if you have me in the system, WHY DIDN'T YOU CALL ME?! I cried -- no, I sobbed -- all the way home. I have a new job starting tomorrow that I needed this car to get to. And literally no other rental place is open on Sundays. Our trip is scheduled for tomorrow so we immediately contacted customer service where we got the run around and spent 2 hours to try to get this issue resolved and find a rental. Do not rent from the 3161 North Cobb Parkway location, or any location. I made a reservation a week before Christmas. I used my card online to reserve (Chime, but it should not matter; it's a credit card). I get to the location on CHRISTMAS EVE to be told they don't except my card. I have a seven year old daughter I had to see. I still got there, lucky me. I then get charged a $50 "no show" fee, on the same card they claim they couldn't take as payment. Called customer service. I was hung up on. And now I have to wait 10 business days for them to reverse the charge. Also, I was hung up on. I also worked for a call center before and the agents showed zero concern. It's very disappointing when the location is unstaffed on a Friday afternoon and therefore there is no one to serve customers. Even more so when you're here to return a lemon picked from another location. I had forgotten why I stopped renting from Avis. Now I recall. I'm so glad my clients no longer maintain this as their "preferred" provider. Once I had a car that smelled like marijuana that they wanted me to return. That way I could get arrested for dui or whatever illegal substances were left behind. Also I had a flat tire, with a nail in it, that they charged me for. Booked rental through Expedia for 12/5 while I was at the Avis line at ATL airport. AVIS employee told me that vehicle would be available upon arrival and that he had called the location that I am leaving a review for. Upon arrival 6:15 pm we found that AVIS was closed. Frustrated and out the ride from the airport to the UBER we begrudgingly headed home and decided to return in the morning to pick up the vehicle. Upon returning in the AM I was told there were not any vehicles in the category I had reserved. The employee working the counter offered no alternative and instead spent his time deflecting blame to "you booked this on Expedia." "There's no phone number on the reservation." "These cars are only at the airport." "24 hours notice for these specialty vehicles" All I wanted to know was how he could help me and instead I received nothing but excuses and a lackluster attitude. This was the absolute worst rental car experience and looks like I'll be going back to using Enter**** for my car rental needs. I made my exit out of Georgia by way of a one-way rental option from the Marietta Avis location. I was ecstatic to find that I didn't have to get into the ATL airport hustle and bustle, but was still able to get a one-way option at a great rate. I will admit that I booked through a third party, and there was a minor issue that my confirmation email indicated that I'd set my pickup and drop off locale as the LEX option. So, I was a bit nervous when I arrived. The location was super convenient to the interstate, and seemed to be in a good area of Marietta. I mean, despite waiting out front for them to open, I never felt there was a safety concern. The opened at noon on Sunday. They even had a chair out in the shopping center breezeway, which was a nice gesture. The nice lady that assisted the three of us who all waited on our cars before opening time, let us in early and immediately started waiting on the other two vultures, I mean patrons. I was there before those two, but one of the ladies indicated that she called headquarters and was told that the cars at this location were limited, so what does she do? Wheezel her way in front of the "line". People like that kill me! Excuse me while I climb down off my soapbox now. I must also mention that I didn't say a word to either of them that cut in front of me, I bit my tongue pretty hard though. I think the rental car gods were looking down and blessed me. Checkout was a breeze once I got to the front of the line. I was literally checked out and to "my" car within 3 minutes. The car was a brand new Ford Fusion hybrid, I must add. It got 40 miles to the gallon! I'll take that! Oh, and I got a cheaper rate then the other two peaches in front of me who announced their daily rate and insisted that the Avis employee compare their rates and make sure they got sufficient reward points. read more

Very unprofessional owner. Set up rental night before and was supposed to pick up vehicle from this location at 10 a.m. when they opened. 6 people in line when we arrived and only one employee. Waited 45 minutes to hear I'm gonna have to call the owner. The owner tells the employee that he doesn't do insurance claims on the weekend so we'll have to come back Monday. Avis will hear about this as will our insurance co. And there's not a chance in hell we'll be returning Monday. read more

The company gave me a vehicle that had a recall on it. This caused a payment issue. Once the issue was resolved they illegally took me off the road, started charging my account all types of fake charges, and lied to Uber about me threatening an agent. The owner of this location is liar and a scammer. The employees are unprofessional. Avis needs to dissolve any relationship they have with this owner(YNOT Ride Solutions). Another thing , if you drive for Uber you cannot use your personal number when contacting them because they will not answer or answer put you on hold and never return to the phone. This establishment has zero to no professionalism. I'm so tired of everyone using the pandemic as an excuse for poor customer service and delivery. This is the second time that I've made a reservation with this establishment months ahead only to find out a day or so before picking up my vehicle that what I expected is not going to be there. There's a little no concern or regard for the fact that they don't fulfill comittments. They simply tell you "we don't think we're going to be able to accommodate you."Previously one of the guys who worked there told me that the owner will take premium vehicles and give to his friends or accommodate others that will pay a higher price and totally disregard your rental contract. I always use Costco rental so I'm low on the totem pole. I'm done using this agency or Avis for that matter because I've complained to HQ that this agency does not fulfill commitments. I hop that anyone who reads this review understand that this is a farce for a business And they should either double book or choose another rental service agency that's more reliable and that you can contact. Went to pick up rental with confirmation and was told at counter that due to holidays , apparently I was supposed to call and confirm my rental.......huh? Called corporate office and even customer service told the agent that a call wasn't necessary....but no...it seems this branch has their own thing going on. Been an "preferred" customer for a while and have rented from other locations many, many times. But this was special....and after 40 min the agent apologized ( after acting crazy) and then tried to get me in a car . Wow..walked away and he followed repeatedly apologizing......wtf?? The car was ready and my process was painless. I called to extend my rental and they were very accommodating.
