As a DTLA resident, this is pretty much your only place to get a rental car besides Union Station. Sucks. The prices for the rentals aren't cheap here either and you can get the same rental that you would at Thrifty but Thrifty is super cheap. Customer service was ok. When I returned the car, they tried to charge me for an additional amount. I asked why I was getting charged more than I was quoted and the guy behind the desk didn't even know and he put the price back down to what it should have been. I made a reservation for a specific car/model but when I went to pick it up they gave me something complete different and unsuitable for my needs. When I asked to change I was informed there wasn't no cars available and if I want something else I should go to LAX. I was even whiling to come back later in the day when the guy told me he was waiting for a car to be return at 6 o'clock but I wouldn't be able to since the office was also closing at 6 PM. After complaint about the treatment I was getting and mentioned I would contact Avis the men working there called Alex (very rude, zero customer service) decided to change my reservation and gave me the car (he was saving to somebody else) I wanted. No BS, no attitude, minimal waiting, they don't care if you drive the car out of the state, they will often upgrade you, and always have cars at the last minute. if you live anywhere near downtown avoid the Enterprise at Pershing Square and go here. I originally only needed a rental car for one week while my own car was shipped from out of state. The shipping ended up taking way longer than expected, so I had to keep extending my rental car. Avis made this very easy for me, and they were polite and professional throughout the whole experience. I rented a Hyundai Elantra for a grand total of over three weeks. The car was clean and functional, albeit more expensive than a rental from LAX would have been (but I live near DTLA, so it was absolutely worth the convenience). Shocking experience today , we booked 4 luxury cars in advance from Australia for a preplanned father son drive to Vegas , we booked in November and prepaid for 3 of them, when we turned up today, the guy just said no luxury cars you can have. Suburban instead, said he would have needed at least 3 weeks notice , we gave 7 . He was also unapologetic, and only one car was clean and ready. This place is the worst Avis around, the customer service is very bad, the cars typically dirty and the staff clearly doesn't give a crisp about you or your needs. I come here to rent a car almost bi-weekly for work for a long drive to central California. I have been to this location about 5 times now and I started renting from another location at the airport because even though it's farther I would prefer the better customer service. Every once in a while I get a decent person at the desk, but unfortunately typically not. There are 2 main guys or three Hispanic woman who is the best of the three. The guys here truly are rude and don't care. I complain about the status of the cars and they still don't fix it. I've even been sitting here booking a car when someone calls in and they lie about availability of cars. I understand we all have bad days, but this place truly is crap. This will be the last time I come to this location. read more

Excellent customer servIce at this location. I was in desperate need of a rental car since another company didn't honor my reservation. I called an hour before they closed and spoke to ALEX - he put me on a quick hold to search their inventory. He was able to find the car I needed for my family trip and quoted me a decent price. He was also upfront and said there would be no time to wash the car because they were closing (I needed a car so that didn't matter). he offered a quick discount for that and had me in and out within 10minutes. The guy cleaning the car on the 5th floor also apologized about not washing the car but had cleaned it best he could. He helped me set up the back seats and fixed the tire pressure light that was on. He knew exactly what he was doing and didn't rush just because they were closing. I really appreciate that. When I returned the car the young lady was extremely nice and the process was so easy and overall I paid exactly the amount I was quoted. The prices are always the best around and u csn easitly book via their app, customer service is really superb and the only draw back i coild think off is the act that they arent open 24 hr for dropp off returns so your flaxibiliry on retiring is a bit limited for their oppening times , i would think that key dropp box should have been there since you are returning in an enclosed secured parking lot on the 5th floor abobe the rntal office. Terrible customer service. I reserved a car through costco car rental services to find out upon my arrival at Avis that my car reservation was unavailable. No courtesy call to inform me of this situation ahead of time. What type of customer service is this?! Then I didn't get any help what so ever the person working did not want to be there and didn't care what my situation was. He could have tried something but he didn't. He just sat there. I would understand if it was a busy day and he was busy with calls or actual people in the office but it was empty. No manager either. We used them for the first time last week. I left my keys and sunglasses in the car. When I realized that I did I called Avis right way. I was told the car was already rented to the next customer and it'll be back Dec 1st. I called them back this morning was told they didn't find anything I asked for them to look again. He came back on the line and said I found your key's but not your sunglasses. I began to ask if they ask the last customer who just had the car if they found any sunglasses in the vehicle they said they refused to ask the customer because that it would apply that they stoled them. I KNOW I LEFT THEM THERE. THIS WAS POOR Customer Service and I will never use them again. I told them that I live down the street and we wanted to use our local car rental place. I needed a car ASAP since I am from out of town. The only good thing about this place was I was able to get a car ASAP. I was quoted that it was going to be $50 a day which is a bit overpriced. Then I found out that they charge additional $27 a day for being underage $77/ per day is a bit ridiculous. Not only was the price ridiculous but I got the smallest car possible as my rental the Mitsubishi Mirage. That car should not be rented out anymore. I felt so unsafe driving it. Every time I pushed on the brakes the car would make a loud noise. I was scare the brakes might break on me anytime. On returning the car I mention to the clerks about the problem so I hope they look into the brakes. I am staying in la for another week and was able to find a great deal through enterprise for only $25 a day. I would highly recommend going there instead if you're trying to save money. But if you were that desperate like me since I got it on a Sunday and enterprise Aren't open on weekends I would recommend just renting a day or two until the weekdays. read more

On August 11th, we waited 45 minutes at LAX Terminal 5 for the courtesy bus to pick us up. This was the best part of our experience with AVIS at LAX. As a Preferred customer, I had a minivan reserved. I drove out and to my surprise the car was filthy, dirty and disgusting. salad dressing containers in the glove box, empty bottled water underneath the seats, used napkins everywhere and sunflower seeds on the floor in the back. I had to pull over and disinfect the car with Lysol and Purell wipes. Here's how bad LAX is: When I returned and complained, the staff told me and I quote "when we are busy, management does not want us to clean the cars. They ask us to fill the gas tank and turn around and give the car to the next customer". If this does not make you mad, I am not sure what would. And to top it all, the return counter staff had the audacity of telling me "you should have come back and asked for a clean car". I guess AVIS should change their tag line to "Revenue first, who cares about customer experience". read more
