HORRIBLE HORRIBLE COMPANY. Go some place else. This place is so bad. Twice they have let me down. The first time, I reserved a car, arrived and there was no car. They rented it to someone else. Today, I gave them another chance. I reserved a car, and paid for it. I got there and they had to run a credit check on me. Even though they had my debit card, they said since I failed their credit check, I had to pay for the car with a credit car. They said I failed the credit check and had to pay for the card with a credit card. I handed my stack of credit cards. I told them I was not sure which cards had money. I was told they only had one more chance to make the card work. I would have probably been more understanding but they treated me so poorly. The lady is like, "Well it is written in our website". No darling it wasn't, or I would have seen it. The guy was worse. I caught an Uber there. No "sorry we destroyed your weekend" nothing but rudeness. Not the worse customer service I have ever seen but definitely top ten worse companies I have ever dealt with. read more

He had no interest in giving me the car I reserved. Of note, I rented under a major corporate account ... that did not matter. Would not trust this location with any car rental! read more

Bad business practices here. Save yourself a headache and use any another local company, even Avis just not this branch. By far the worst rental experience of my life. I was given a rental that needed all types of repairs and wasn't safe to drive. I was forced to put the car in the shop on my own personal time which took almost a week to get fixed. They never gave me a new vehicle or swapped me out, meanwhile, I'm paying to uber back & forth to the business to check up on a rental that I'm also paying for these folks had no sort of sympathy. They still charged me for the entire week although I had paperwork and proof also kept in touch on a daily basis to make sure everything was OK, I was still charged the entire price of the rental even the days the car was in the shop. Entity I work for has a Major Corporate Account here and we use this location all the time. They called me and said they couldn't honor my reservation that was made weeks in advance because they didn't have any SUV's to rent. I get there and they tried to send me to Tampa airport to pick up a SUV but then couldn't verify they would have one there upon arrival. Lady also tried to lie and say I had reserved it for another location. She also tried to rent me an EV that would be an inconvenience to charge for a long trip. This was so unprofessional and unacceptable for our company to use them, as well as a customer of AVIS!! I do not recommend this location at all!! I went to Enterprise on Court Street to rent a SUV and they were very nice and accommodating. read more

Avis scams you , had my own toll pass , Avis took money from me even though I have my own toll pass now they want me to screenshot my charges on my EP pass just so they can refund all the money they've been taking from me. The customer service at the Clearwater location on Cleveland St has a lot to be desired. I'm going back to Enterprise and I will never use Avis again. read more

Wish you could give 0 stars I made a rental car two weeks in advance and went through company website and got dropped off to pickup the rental car they looked me in my face and oh we don't have rental cars. And I asked can you switch my reservation to another location they provided a paper and told me to do it my self. How could this have been avoided idk contact me ahead of time and inform me of stock shortage. Request stock from different locations to insure that doesn't occur. Genuinely feel remorse for your customer saw three other people in the same thing. This is third time with this company that they have had an issue with me renting. read more

Deceptive and misleading. Reserved through their website and when I went to pick up the vehicle, I was told they don't have it but if I want an e car then I have it for $75 more a day. They blamed me for making a last minute reservation (48 hours). Then they blamed me for reserving on their website because their website doesn't know the cars they have. Paid for the truck IN FULL got confirmation # email called back to the actual location of rental to confirm all was a go again. Yes. Get in town go to location and the owner was a straight butt. Very disappointing experience to be yelled at as a customer. I wanted to return my car early because I bought a car and no longer needed the rental. The person behind the counter would not even let me speak when I tried to explain this. He kept interrupting me and would not let me talk. I wanted to return the car earlier, which would help them (I thought), as I prepaid and would not get any money back. He was very disrespectful. When I asked about the tank being full but missing maybe $5 if it was okay to leave it like this, as I was returning the car earlier and losing myself like $1000 to them, he said if I didn't fill it, I would be charged. I told him they had very bad customer service, and he started to raise his voice and told me that was my own issue, I should have read the terms and conditions, and that everyone in America had poor customer service. If I could give negative stars I would. NEVER use this service. Paid and made a reservation for a car for 12pm. Arrived and they told us we couldn't get any car until MAYBE 4pm. Horrible customer service. I reserved and paid for a car online. Was given a call later saying they had no available vehicles. None. Not even one. Not a single car that I could use. They said they couldn't reverse my credit card charge and made no effort to help me. I was stranded with two small children in the heat because of these people and they made no effort at all and barely seemed to care. This place is an absolute joke. Had a reservation made about a week ago to pick up a car today at Cleveland st Avis in Clearwater. After I drove one hour to get there the door was locked and it was 1:29, they close at 2. Anyway as I was calling the Ricardo comes back and says oh you must be ms ...., we don't have a car for you they are all rented. Are you kidding me, I called last week to be sure it will would be available and which vehicle. He told me I could "try Clearwater st Pete airport, no you can call to see. So he called them and others, none available!!! Worst Avis I have ever been too. Oh yea the stench of stale cigarette smoke was horrendous in the whole store. Now I get to run around tomorrow (Sunday) to find a vehicle for Monday to rent for 11 days. Disgusting! Never again. FANTASTIC customer service. My key fob went AWOL for a few hours, and because of the helpful staff I was able to make my flight, and get the car rental back to Avis. They kept an end-of-vacation disaster from becoming a really expensive nightmare. The car was clean and ready to go, and well-maintained. read more

I was very careful with the car I rented but was not told that a few dog hairs found in the car after returning it would cost me over $100 cleaning fee. If I had known I would have vacuumed them out beforehand. Calling the local office and the main office did not help. NOT BEING TOLD and STILL BEING CHARGED FOR THIS WAS NOT OK. read more
