Good programs. The people who run in won't call you back or answer questions. They seem very closed off. They teach the art which is great but you're not getting on a first name basis. I like to meet people and know who's got my kid for an hour behind closed doors, don't get that here. read more

My daughter started first week in June, was a bit skeptical about the place however read good reviews and went for it, well for my own experience this place is great my daughter loves it, friendly staff not to mention very welcoming and accommodating My daughter missed the first lesson they helped me out. I also had to switch the lesson to another day due to her swim lessons, they also helped me with that. I already purchased the month of August my daughter is hooked she is sad they will not be having lessons the month of July due to summer camps. We had our daughter's 3rd birthday here this weekend. There were about 10 3 yr old kids in our party. Kids had a fantastic time playing, doing artsy stuff and were totally entertained. Natalie, the owner, is extremely friendly and was fun to work with. I know the kids had fun interacting with her and her staff. They played with play doh, paints and drew pictures on the wall. The entire party was catered for us - the only item we brought was drinks for everyone. The place is easy to find and parking is plentiful.I thought the money we spent for the event was well worth it. We look forward to do it again next year. read more

My Mom and I were at a loss as to what to do to entertain my three year old last week (it has been uncommonly chilly and cloudy here in socal this July). So after a bit of internet surfing we found Averyboo Arts and decided on taking him there for an hour of studio time. Natalie was so nice and helpful but gave my son free range of her studio. She has all kinds of mediums for kids to explore. He had a great time and really enjoyed telling Grandpa all about the shark suit that he played with and the dinosaur that he painted. It was the perfect way to keep him occupied for an hour and it sure wore him out. read more

I signed up my son for one of the toddler classes. The classes are only 45 minutes and I really felt as if we were rushed every week. The kids only get about 30 minutes of free art time and then they need to sit for a song and then walk around the room in a parade. My son wasn't at all interested in that. One week we were told the song was about "Indians"-and it was appropriated Native American music and the whole thing made me feel uncomfortable. Averyboo would probably be a nice place to plan for a play date once or twice, just as a drop in. I would not recommend the classes. read more

A real treasure here in Long Beach. With pretty much all the cool art materials one can dream of and lots of costumes, it's hard not to have a blast. The birthday party my 6 year old had at Averyboo was awesome. The owner and I sat down to create my daughter's vision, an eco-art party. Everything was tailored just right and the price was reasonable. There are art classes, open studio time and creatively themed workshops as well. I brought my daughter here for a manga/anime workshop, and it was great. The instructor, Anna, was very easygoing and mild-mannered. The project they did was a fun one, and she continued it at home. My daughter really liked Miss Anna and is considering returning for drawing classes. We have several friends who have attended classes here for awhile and love it. Visited Averyboo Arts last week with both of my children for the first time and was very happy with the experience. It is a great place - very stimulating - lots to do there, great supplies, very friendly staff who were great with my kids. I especially liked how they spoke to my kids, very nurturing, and they took time to personally connect with each of my kids and compliment their work several times. Also, I loved that there are so many recycled and natural craft objects to use - I felt inspired to come home and create a more natural craft experience for my children at home. It was just great - can't say enough about the place and the people who work there. We will go again! The classes look awesome, and I think if anyone is interested in checking it out a great way to do it would be to venture down to the area on a First Friday and stroll Atlantic and "pop" in to see what it going on. My daughter has sporadicly attended classes at Averyboo over 3 years and had her 6th birthday here. She has loved all the classes here and still talks about her birthday there 3 years later. She has learned so much about art here and has gained confidence in her ability. We love all of the ceramic pieces and pictures made by her displayed proudly around our house. I recently had my daughter's fifth birthday party at Averyboo and we had a wonderful experience. All of the kids had a great time and there was something for everyone-- whether kids wanted to play dress-up, do free painting at an easel, build a Lego structure, play with kitchen toys, or do one of the two planned art activities for the party, there was a ton to do. Perfect for this age group. Natalie, the owner, was willing to tailor our party to the theme we requested. My daughter is super into owls right now and Natalie set up two great activities-- a clay owl project and a painted hand activity wherein the children turned their own handprints into owls on a branch. Very cute and lots of fun. Natalie and her assistant, Dee, did a great job of helping the kids with anything they might need and Natalie also did a story time at the end with a book of my daughter's choice. My daughter did there winter camp and loved it. They have a really knowledgable staff and are very well organized. I have since enrolled her into the monthly art class. My 2 year old really enjoyed the pee- wee art classes offered. Lots of different activities in one session. Classes are an hour long for toddlers. However I felt that 45 mins was the total time that was covered in each class. Teachers feel pressured to finish up quickly in order to prepare for the next class. I really enjoy bringing my 3 year old son to Averyboo Arts. Not only can he explore many forms of arts and crafts, including painting, Playdoh, or making crafts, but he enjoys bringing home his new creations to show off for mommy and daddy. He also enjoys playing with the other kids (the socialization is great!) and listening to storytime. We have gone more than once to Averyboo Arts in Long Beach and will go again. I find it interesting that this places gets such glowing reviews in regards to their art classes. Their open studio time is great,.I give them credit for that and its the only reason they get 2 stars.. Their classes, on the other hand, need lots of improvement. When I pay nearly $20 per class, I expect to see more than just some random coloring with different mediums. The teacher Natalie, needs to brush up on her early childhood development and find some better ways to instruct the younger kids. When a kid asks a question, its bothersome to hear her respond in an annoyed tone that, 'I already answered that'......not impressed with the structure of the class OR the art projects either. I taught pre-k for seven years and have several children of my own so i was kind of surprised by the way the class was run...not to mention her lack of emotion.
