The employees at Avenues Pet Clinic were very sweet and gentle with our babies while giving them their vaccinations. They were exceptionally patient with our feisty kitten Thank you all!

Avoid this clinic if you have a sick animal! We lost our 10 year old dog way too soon and feel this vets inexperience and lack of care contributed. We had 3 different vets from Avenues working with our dog Pancho. Then we were consistently with Dr. Jones. This whole process was a nightmare. We felt the whole time none of the vets new what was wrong with our dog. By the 3 visit they said it was immune mediated anemia. My spouse and I have come to the conclusion (and suspected throughout the treatment) that Dr. Jones over prescribed our 10 year old dog with prednisone. To the point of causing him to develop cushings disease. How can a vet sit there and claim that it is all part of the side effects of prednisone when a dog goes from walking perfectly fine to barely walking and standing up. Pancho developed a significant curve in his spine in less than a month. On the last 2-3 visits, I expressed how concerned we were. On the last visit, I couldn't even get Pancho in the vet without some of the other staff helping me carry him out of my car. He went from 110lbs to 100lbs and this was devastating. I tried and wanted to have confidence and trust in this vet. But after inside, Dr. Jones had no concern at all about our beloved Pancho. She acted like it was normal and routine. I had been balling all morning worried about Pancho because I knew deep down something wasn't right. I even asked Dr. Jones "so you're telling me this will all reverse after Pancho gets off the prednisone?" She said "yes." Also, she prescribed him two more medications that day! Which is complete B.S. Dr. Jones had no concern that the dog under her care went from normal walking to barely being able to walk - in less than a month! Pancho's stomach was bloated and sagging. He lost noticeably large amount of muscle/weight in his back legs and was boney in his spine. The excessive dose of prednisone raised his cortisol levels and killed him in a month. Poor Pancho of only 10 passed away on Friday. His appointment was that Monday. (Here comes the sarcasm) Thank you Avenue's for being so empathetic. Thank you for NEVER reaching out to us after we lost Pancho or provide any condolences- even after cancelling his next check up because he had passed! I would stay far away from this place. Use at your own risk.

I do freight runs. My road dog got into something bad. Don't know what. Most likely Called for emergency services today. Was promised a 20 min call back. 45 min go by. Called again. Was told the on call got the message. Will resend. 15 min later the service calls and tells me to call the poison hotline. I guess a blood pooping dog isn't important enough for a call back or a emergency Sunday appt. Will NEVER recommend someone so cold and uncaring. Horrible service. Should not be in this field - period!!

Happy at CSU nursing for the first time

I am writing to warn you all about Avenues Pet Clinic. We brought our pregnant pup in as she was having difficulties giving birth. They performed a C-Section and spayed her in the morning. After surgery they called stated all went well and to pick her up at 5 pm. My wife shows up and they bring out the puppies. My wife then waited for another 10 to 15 minutes for them to bring out Happy. They then brought my wife into a room with Happy and stated she was in shock, looked horrible. I'm guessing she wasn't monitored for the hours between surgery and pick up, they were surprised that she was in shock. My wife left and told them she would return at 7pm when they closed to figure out why Happy was in shock. When she arrived at 7pm she was given the options of leaving Happy at Avenues overnight, unsupervised, taking her home for constant supervision or taking her to a 24 hour clinic. My wife opted to take our dog home for supervision. In the 2 hours between 5 pm and 7 pm they stated they completed an ultrasound and found no internal bleeding (we don't believe this was actually done). They sent my wife home with our Happy, in distress. By the time they got home our dog wasn't moving, her gums were white and cold, and she was bleeding externally. My wife rushed to CSU Animal Hospital (highly recommended). They rushedto get her, and began working on her immediately. When my wife arrived at CSU Happy was completely limp and lifeless. After a bit, they came out letting us know she needed a blood transfusion, which we agreed to. They went back to helping our dog. After surgery was done, they let us know a few things. They found an 8 cm hematoma, the stitching was loose, ligatures were present but not tight. They also found green debris in the surgical site. My dogs condition was worsening at the clinic, which tells me that they didn't do a proper eval of her. If done, they would have called us and advised her condition and would have asked for consent for further surgery to figure it out. They didn't. If they did it could have prevented the trip to CSU. They didn't know a thing as they even said we could leave her there overnight unsupervised. If my wife selected this option our sweet girl would have passed by 10 pm. By Avenues releasing our girl it is evident the doctor did not have the proper knowledge and that they didn't know or didn't care about my dog's condition. The CSU vet said the ligatures could have been loose from movement, puppy feeding or sloppy surgery. We don't even know if the puppies were fed by Momma dog and seeing as how she was wobbly and lethargic when they brought her out at 5pm, I doubt her movement would have loosened them. During the follow up visit a vet told us it was most likely due to poor application of the ligatures. Then jat the 10 day check up we were told again that it was most likely that the vet had done a poor job on the ligatures and they have seen numerous poor outcomes from this clinic. Let's talk about the debris left in my dog. It was easy for the CSU vet to find and clean out the debris, why wasn't this done at Avenues? They will tell you it's all a risk of surgery and we did sign a disclosure. That is fine, but it's obvious with all that went wrong the surgery was botched and they didn't want to tell us. We called the vet clinic to discuss all that happened. The head vet denied any wrongdoing. Loose ligatures, debris and a huge amount of blood loss sound a bit more like poor, sloppy vet work to me. What bothers me even more is that she laughed when she hung up the phone, which tells me they really didn't care, had no compassion, empathy or any concern. I wonder if getting home to dinner that night was more important than my dog's life. In closing dog, appropriately named Happy needed 4 blood transfusions and 2 units of platelets and all ligatures cleaned up a tightened, as well as debris cleaned out of her wounds. You can make your own conclusions with the facts I presented. But I would warn you of visiting Avenues if you care about your pet.

The folks here saved my cat's life!…read more My mom recommended Cheyenne Pet Clicic after taking her cats for shots, teeth removals, etc. Even though I live in Fort Collins, where I'm sure there are a lot of great clinics too, I come here because I have been very impressed with how the clinic runs like a well oiled machine. They see a lot of clients, yet you don't usually have to wait very long to make an appointment or to be seen. All the receptionists, vet techs, and vets I've dealt with here have been super. I took my cat, Tar, for routine shots, then later teeth removal and cleaning. Everyone was very nice and Dr. Calhoon and Ashley took the time to answer any questions I had about the procedures. They even gave me before and after photos of his rotten teeth, X-rays, and let me have the tiny teeth they removed. Recently I noticed Tar was hiding, extremely lethargic, eating less, etc. He was in good spirits but I was concerned because he is FIV (Feline Immune deficiency Virus) positive, which means he can get really sick fast. When I called to make an appointment, the receptionist asked very specific questions to assess how sick he was, the nature of his illness, and she made the soonest available appointment. Within 5 minutes she called me back to let me know there was just a cancellation the day before and they could get him in sooner. I wish I could remember this receptionist's name so I could tell her that she saved his life. When I brought Tar in, Dr. Calhoon didn't immediately run a bunch of random tests, he again asked me very specific questions about his behavior, appetite, bowel movements, etc. He quickly ruled out unnecessary stuff like X-rays and did a saline test and blood smear. Within 10 minutes into the appointment and with a relatively benign, inexpensive test he had figured out he had immune mediated thrombocytopenia and anemia (his immune system was attacking his platelets and red blood cells), probably idiopathic but perhaps from FIV. Because the receptionist had thought to call me back immediately and fit me in for this appointment, and Dr. Calhoon was able to figure out what was going on with a simple saline blood solution, we we able to start treatment immediately with immune suppressants. I brought him back a few times after that to get blood tests and I cannot stress enough how close he was to going over the rainbow bridge. Every day mattered. I had to have some hard conversations about when would be the time to consider either blood transfusion or euthanasia. Dr. Calhoon and all the folks here were incredibly kind and patient in answering everything. It was touch and go for a minute there but Tar seems to be improving and living his best, most spoiled life. Tar goes with me everywhere. I moved across country and started my life over with this critter. He sleeps in my lap for car rides, sits in a chair at the dinner table to watch us eat, curls up next to me wherever I am, and won't even so much as let me go the bathroom without him. Even if the folks at Cheyenne Pet Clinic have only bought me a few more high quality of life months, I am immensely grateful I don't have to say goodbye to my little shadow yet and get to spoil him rotten.

Price gouging on medication, won't take GoodRX to help and you have to go online to access…read moredifferent prescription rates. But here's the kicker, if you don't check before the charges EACH MONTH, they will NOT notify you. My cats medication has gone from $70 to $130 in the span of a year and a half. Everytime I go In they can't even tell me what tests I'm supposed to have done, but they will hold my pets medication hostage until I do. So I go in, get close to ZERO information on my animals condition or care, they ask ME what tests I'm in for (they never even told me before I came in, so it's guess work) and then I get hit with extra charges and sub par care. The reviews don't lie, these folks are here to take your money ever since Church left and I am actively looking for more passionate and reliable care elsewhere. I can't afford to spend $130 on monthly medication on top of surprise office visits that can range anywhere between $50-$200. I love my animal more than anything in this world, I really do. Diabetes is a lifelong thing once they are on medication. At the absolute bare minimum, educate, show passion and communicate (not when it's just convenient for you financially). Thankfully, her medication is working and her diabetes has been managed. But the issue with this clinic is that they seriously could not care less until it comes to collect the payment.

I called later begging them to see her and was told to wait til they opened. I paid ER fees and was willing to pay them again to save my dog as she was in agony. As her Momma, I knew she was sick and that should have been a reasonable assumption of the vet too. My dog died because a vet didn't care enough. I'll never take another animal there.

Beware! I recently worked as Broadmoor's assistant manager. As someone who is extremely passionate…read moreabout animals, I felt the need to leave a review, so that others can make a fair, accurate, and educated decision before boarding their pet at Broadmoor. First and foremost, there is no such thing as play time with your animal and staff. Dogs are locked in a kennel 24/7, often with nothing but a small thin blanket or towel to lay. This privilege is frequently taken away if your dog displays high anxiety. Providing your own blanket or dog bed won't change this, as animal belongings are NEVER given to them. Most dogs soil the contents of their kennel on a nightly basis and instead of cleaning dogs belongings multiple times, all belongings are marked and put in a cubby. They will not tell you this at time of drop off. Their operational schedule is posted below in a picture, but as you can see, Dogs remain in their indoor kennel from 4pm to 8am, a total of 16 hours... and there is no time or opportunity for staff to interact with dogs one on one. There is also no boarding staff on-site between 530pm and 630am. The messes that are made during their isolated 16-hour stint are cleaned up each morning at 8:30am. Nearly every kennel is riddled with urine and poop inside. Few dogs are able to hold it for this long. I brought up my concerns and offered alternative solutions or ideas, but was immediately dismissed. Even with daily cleaning, kennel cough has been going around the facility for the past few months. As a manager, I handled 2-3 weekly customer complaints about their dog coming down with the illness. As for grooming, their best groomer just left, and only one remains. The remaining groomer can barely handle 6 dogs a day and often, these dogs return to be fixed. 2/3's of the upcoming appointments will need to be canceled or rescheduled. I spent hours each week calling owners. Managements fix was to have kennel staff do groom dogs. Speaking of management, Bobby, their manager, hired me for my managerial expertise and extensive administrative background. He's ran boarding ops by for a long time and is the brother to one of the owners. Despite the many recommendations I suggested, Bobby denied all of them. Many were directed to improve comfort to the animals. Bobby rather focus on rediculous tasks that actively jepordized the health and safety of employees. He felt the constant need to micromanage but would complain about being bothered on his days off. Bobby commonly assigned deep cleaning tasks for the weekend. These tasks were difficult because kennels were full and we were understaffed. I found out this has been an ongoing issue. Many could be completed in the middle of the week, when the facility was nearly empty, and staffing was not an issue. It would certainly allow us time to focus on dog interaction. Despite tasks still getting done, Bobby always found reason to complain. It's degrading when you work your butt off all weekend and then wake up to texts, claiming nothing got done. Bobby wants his employees to be "yes men/women". During my last weekend, it was 10-15 degrees out and snowing. We were directed to empty the planters full of frozen soil. Bobby didn't care how and wanted employees outside hacking at frozen soil with shovels. Bobby, as a manager, is completely failing this company. As for the vet side, dogs cannot receive vaccinations in a timely manner. Dogs would be boarding for days without vaccinations. Also, my own pup injured herself. The vet side took a look and said she was fine. I took her to Cheyenne Pet Clinic and within 3 minutes they determined she had a torn cruciate ligament. Attached is proof to support my above statements. Step your game up Broadmoor. Treat the dogs and your employees better!
