The dr is super sweet but my crown fell after just 2years, and my tooth was totally normal, no decay or cavity, crown just fell naturally. which I would think it was not put on correctly from beginning but dr charged $250 and receptionist said dr will call to discuss refund, but they did not. I reached out after 3days then dr called and left a vm saying she will call again and never did. when I asked what If it fell again or the other one fall within 2-3years do they charge me $250 each time (I had few from this place) they never answered that question either. I went to this office for a bit over a year and I had a great experience with the staff. My main reason why I'm writing this review is that I got a bill a year later saying I had to pay extra. This extra money that I had to pay out of pocket was almost $700. I also was unemployed when I got the bill and called in to say I don't have the funds to pay for this, due to that. I called their accounting dept several times to resolve this issue, even trying to get a payment plan. Took a few months to negotiate with the accountant and then silence. Almost a year later I got mail from a debt collector saying I have to pay the bill. Ridiculous. There's something iffy about this office. I read reviews on their google that are now gone. They delete bad reviews. To me that's a red flag! Please save your time and money and go somewhere else. read more

I wanted to like this office but will not return. I visited the office 5 times in less than a year, most visits were unpleasant. My main complaint: I feel the office tries to extract as much $ out of patients and insurance as possible, and pushes unnecessary treatments to do so. I don't trust this to be an honest business and felt repeatedly bamboozled. 1. Hygenist gave a hard sell of Invisalign on my 1st visit, left a sour taste in my mouth 2. Their default is to recommend cleanings 3x/year instead of the usual 2x/yr. Dr. Oh said nothing indicating I needed the greater frequency. A 2nd opinion from a different dentist confirmed that 2x/year was fine. 3. Hygenist made a big deal of giving me a "special discount" on teeth whitening trays. I later found the same exact product on Amazon for more than 3x cheaper. 4. X-rays are usually done 1x/year unless there's cause for greater frequency. The standard here is 2x/year even if there's no specific reason for it. When I had my 2nd cleaning in a year, the hygienist pushed x-rays, at first saying it had been more than a year since my last x-rays. I corrected her, saying it had been less than a year. She changed course and said it was their practice to do x-rays 2x/year. The x-rays were covered by insurance and I felt pressured to, so I stupidly obliged only to find I still had to pay a bit to meet my deductible...again, sour taste in my mouth. Lastly, I had a weird interaction with Dr. Oh. During the conversation, she quickly became terse and her usual bedside manner went out the window. In that moment, she didn't strike me as someone with the patience to have difficult conversations. Since I have been coming to Avenue Dental, I always look forward to my teeth cleaning appointments. Joy has been doing my cleanings the last few times and after today, she's officially the best I've ever had. She is so incredibly gentle as she navigates the tools in my mouth. She gets into every nook and cranny, is extremely thorough. I really appreciate how she will immediately and very carefully wipe my face if the water sprays a bit. The cherry on the top is the application of lip balm to ensure my lips are nourished at the end of the procedure. Joy, thank you for caring so much! Dr, Oh and her staff are amazing and I can't recommend them enough. I went here for a routine cleaning and check-up initially, and Dr. Oh was able to identify two cracks in my crowns that my prior dentists were unable to detect. With her state-of-the-art equipment, she showed me the actual 3D surface of the cracks which were both really impressive with the level of detail (and troubling that I had this for so long). She was able to remedy this very quickly and moreover, improved my bite (occlusion) which for many years was horribly imbalanced causing TMJ issues and clicking in my right jaw.. After her treatment, I'm happy to share I no longer experience any pain and am click/pain-free. And my bite feels much more balanced when I eat and chew food. I can't thank her and her team enough. They are professional, really friendly, listen to good office music and are very organized (they have a system to send auto-reminders to ensure you don't miss your appointment). Dr. Oh has also been very accommodating in seeing me the same day on a couple of occasions to treat an urgent issue. She also spent extra time in ensuring my night guard fit properly even though I had not gone in for that originally. My only complaint is that they wouldn't implant diamonds on my two front teeth. Not because the Dr. was unable to do the procedure, but because I refused to pay for the diamonds. You do realize diamonds have no intrinsic value, right? And are only inflated in price because the De Beers company created artificial scarcity for decades, all while employing near-slave labor to grow their shady empire. I tried to like this place because of the high reviews, but both my husband and I have had experiences here that left a bad taste in our mouths. My husband went in for tooth pain in one back molar, which the doctor identified as a hidden cavity and filled. Upon leaving, he was told multiple times that yes, insurance would cover everything and he had absolutely no cost to pay out of pocket. Avenue Dental then emailed us WEEKS later, saying we had an overdue balance. Apparently, our insurance only covers a full, complete mouth x-ray once every 3 years and now we were responsible for the cost. Couldn't they have checked with the insurance to see whether they covered this PRIOR to doing this procedure? "No, there's no way we would've known." There's a lot of questions / concerns here. - I understand the ambiguities and black box of insurance. However, why go as so far as to assure the patient that there is no cost, only to slap them with a bill that they were completely not expecting? The phrase "you may have to pay around ~$x amount if insurance does not cover it" goes such a long way in terms of transparency and patient expectations. - Why use a full, complete mouth X-ray when my husband presented with localized pain for one tooth? Why did the doctor not ask whether he's had a full x-ray in the past to ascertain whether insurance would cover an unnecessary procedure? - We asked if there's a payment plan available and were told no. This is fine for us, as the cost wasn't astronomical. But what if this happened for a procedure that was upwards of a couple hundred dollars? My own experience was similarly hellish - I went in for tooth pain and was told, without the slightest sign of empathy or care, that "my root canal was infected and I'd probably have to get the tooth extracted or re-do my root canal". I then spent the next month going to the endodontist weekly, spending hundreds of dollars on special imaging all because this one doctor told me it was infected. Surprise... nothing. The tooth was completely fine and months later, I feel fine. Thank God that my endodontist was honest, was completely transparent with the upfront costs and gave me a CHOICE to pay or find alternative ways, and actually discouraged me from getting unnecessary, expensive treatment. He called me checking in on my pain and my tooth - I actually have not heard a single word from Dr. Oh since my first initial appointment months ago. I refrained from writing a review of my experience because I thought it was better to be overcautious, but after my husband's similar encounter, now I see that neither Dr. Oh nor her staff care about their patients. It took going to a 'good' dentist to see that - so thanks for the referral, Dr. Oh! read more

I have been with Dr Oh since she was partnered at another office previously near my house. I was sad when i found out she left that office. Luckily the other dentist i also see, is still at the other office I go to. I see both of them simultaneously through the years although Dr. Oh was my main dentist and i will tell you all, she is one amazing dentist!! I am always scared (who isn't) when seeing a dentist but she is very technical at her skills and has a soft touch. She is also a soft spoken dentist that gets the job done! Just had to put a shoutout for one of the best dentist I had. In addition, she really tries to save your teeth and won't do anything to it unless she has to. I found Avenue Dental when it was still early in its practice. At the time, there were very few reviews but all of them positive, so I took a chance. I'm really glad I did because Dr. Oh and her team have been incredible from the very first visit. Dr. Oh works quickly and with great precision. My first couple visits were for cavities and the whole process was smooth and completely pain free. You can't even tell there are fillings because they blend so well. I just finished almost two years on Invisalign and I couldn't be happier. Dr. Oh went above and beyond in her care and attention to detail, and continued to fine tune my smile until all issues were addressed. I appreciate her warmness and have felt so welcomed at each visit -- and I've had dozens! I found Avenue Dental through my dental insurance provider directory several years back and booked an appointment after reading the stellar reviews. During my first visit, I knew right away that I would never go to another dental practice. Avenue Dental is located in a medical building in Century City; the practice itself is modern, sparkling clean, and equipped with state-of-the-art equipment. What's really special about Avenue though, is the people who run it. Dr. Oh is the most brilliant dentist I've ever seen with a bedside manner to match. On top of being able to address the root of every issue I've had with my teeth, she never pushes any unnecessary scans or procedures. I follow them on Instagram and saw that Dr. Oh attends training courses multiple times a year to further herself - my best friend's husband who is also a dentist let me know that these courses easily cost up to $50-60K. The fact that she continues to invest in her craft when she has already completed TWO DDS degrees (first one at Seoul University and the second one at UCLA) shows her dedication to providing nothing but the best for her patients. She also only hires the best people in the industry for her team, such as dental hygienists and dental assistants. I used to be a patient at Vision Dental and dental cleaning was something I dreaded - I never saw the same hygienist twice (I think they were usually interns from UCLA or nearby community colleges) and most of them gave very painful cleanings. Seeing Lauren in the office always brightens my day and Joy's dental cleanings are painless yet thorough. Due to a change in my company's insurance provider, I no longer have dental coverage. However, Avenue Dental provides cost-saving packages for patients who pay out of their own pocket. I recently completed my Invisalign treatment and my teeth are now more perfectly aligned than when I first had my braces removed as a teenager - it was worth every penny and their interest-free installment plan made it so much easier on my wallet. I've never met a more ethical dentist than Dr. Oh, so I'm really taken aback by some of these 1-star reviews. Dr. Oh is thorough and a perfectionist, but she would never recommend any procedures that are unnecessary. Update: Dentist called to apologize. While I still feel like her recommendations (particularly pushing for Invisalign / orthodontic work) were unnecessary I do appreciate that she reached out. I came in several months ago for a routine check up and cleaning. The dentist spent a substantial amount of time doing a complete 3D scan of my teeth - very similar to what I had when I had Invisalign. The dentist then proceeded to tell me that my bite was horrible and ruining my teeth, and that I needed Invisalign. In fact, it seems like she came into the appointment trying to sell Invisalign given the lengthy amount of time spent on the unnecessary 3D scan that I remember getting when I had Invisalign. She also said I had 3 cavities (including one on my FRONT tooth). Given that this seemed kind of extreme (my previous dentist before I moved to LA had never mentioned any concerns with that tooth), I asked to wait / get a second opinion. The dentist then used a scare tactic by saying if I waited I'd likely need a root canal. Fast forward 5 months, I saw a different very highly rated dentist elsewhere who told me my teeth were perfect and who did not identify any cavities (just a chipped filling that I needed replaced), who said I didn't need cosmetic work, and only recommended a night guard for my grinding. I specifically asked him about my bite (said it was good) and the cavities (that he didn't see anything and def wouldn't recommend taking action) which was consistent with my old dentist of 12 years before I moved to LA. read more

I am astonished this facility has 5 stars. Parking alone is minimum $20 for 40 minutes in their parking garage and parking outside requires permit with the exception of ~10 metered parking spaces. Upon visiting, I filled out my new patient form stating that I had reservations about visiting the dentist. Upon finishing my cleaning Dr. Oh pulls up a photograph of a rotten tooth and does not explain that it is not my tooth but someone else's. My anxiety went through the roof, and I had to stop her and ask what I was looking at. She states that it was a picture of what a cavity looks like, I guess for my reference. Regardless, she proceeded to tell me the filling I had done doesn't look to standard, and I was shocked since I just had it done 3 months prior. She did not understand my confusion as a patient, and I asked her to further clarify, and she became visibly bothered that I was "questioning her judgement." Upon leaving her office I reached out to my previous dentist, who completed the filing, and he stated that he did not see any reason to correct the filling. I contacted Dr. Oh and explained my reservations, to which she became unprofessional and condescending. I asked how it was possible to have had a filling recently done and have to get it replace so soon, which I still think is an honest concern. Dr. Oh's response was "If you ask me why you would need a new one if you had it done in December, I am not able to answer that question because I did not do that filling myself." I was expecting something along the lines of some dentists aren't meticulous as they should etc., etc. The day I chose to have the filling redone, Dr. Oh was very crass with me. She numbed me, which went to the back of my throat, and I asked if they could wash the numbing cream from my throat since I had a sensation I couldn't swallow. I knew from there that I was a bother to her. After 25 minutes, she came over when I was totally numb, unable to speak to confront me. She stated something along the lines of this relationship isn't going to work since you are second guessing my judgement. She proceeded to ask if I still wanted to get the filling redone to which I had a look like uhh yeaa... I was totally and completely numb already. Since I couldn't speak I stated all I did was ask my dentist if he felt the work he did required to be redone. She rolled her eyes and rolled away in the chair and I turned around and asked her if she was ok. I had never been spoken in that manner before and she continued on verbally bashing me. I don't think I be able to forget this experience and I do hope that Dr. Oh realizes that in the end we are all there because we care about our teeth ultimately. What's nice is that they rub a topical prior to the needle so you barely feel it. The whole process took about an hour. My daughter was the first one in to see her and was very complimentary of her and the clinic. Next was my 11 year old son who typically gets nervous during dentist visits, but Dr Oh's demeanor or explanations helped keep my son at ease. He liked the appointment so much, he kept talking about his visit with the family. I was actually impressed with all the Digital images that were quickly available and shared with us on my sons teeth condition. He got a free toothbrush and floss which he says are better than Oral B!! When I finally had my appointment, I could see why my kids liked her. She and her assistant were very friendly. Avenue dental is a nicely designed and clean office with advanced state of art technology and the most welcoming and caring staff. I had two of my front teeth chipped during childhood. My previous dentist (SF) filled them which lasted almost 2 decades. I needed new fillings so I went to see Dr. Oh. My fillings with Dr. Oh broke +5 times over the course of a year. They've chipped, cracked and one fell off entirely just from brushing my teeth. Dr. Oh claims my bite is the issue. So she's indicating that my bite has changed so drastically between my last fillings and hers that suddenly I cannot hold a filling for a month when they've previously lasted over a decade. I wonder what type of composite material she's using for them to break so easily. I had no choice, but to continue to return since I was under warranty and did not want to pay out of pocket for the same procedure they should've done properly in the first place. I refrained from writing a review, but have had such a negative experience that something needed to be said. I'd also like to point out that another reviewer mentions she used the same excuse for them as well. For me, she suggested braces during a previous appointment so instead of apologizing and owning up to her mistake she says our bites are the issue and then tells us to get more dental work done. This has given me anxiety and frustration wondering how long her filling will last. I've had to show up to work with my broken teeth because she couldn't see me right away as well. I do not recommend Dr. Oh for chipped teeth unless you want to continually return. read more

Iiiii can't believe I'm rating a dentist. I usually hate the dentist. I never floss enough, even though I tell them I floss 100x a day. My gums are never great, even though they look fabulous to me (not when I floss). I wear my invisalign 22 hours - 1 hour ish a day, but they never believe me. There is usually much shame when I leave the dentist, reprimanded and sheepish. To my pleasant, cautious surprise, Avenue Dental was a different experience. There was no shaming, no guilt tripping! Dr. Oh was great and very professional, polite, and GENTLE which apparently makes a world of difference when you don't floss 100x a day. I went in for a cleaning and didn't twist and turn and hate myself. And most importantly, NO SHAME. My experience here was a pleasant surprise, to something I usually dread. I came in for an extraction of my two upper wisdom teeth that I've been holding off for too long. I also have a bit of a gag reflex, so I recognize that I can be a difficult patient to work on. Dr. Oh and her staff went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable and my procedure go as smoothly as possible. The office is clean, organized and modern. I was greeted by the kind staff (shout outs to Lauren and Tim). As I sat down in the chair, the assistant Sungha made sure I was comfortable and even gave me a stress ball to squeeze onto during the procedure. Dr. Oh came in and explained to me the procedure so there won't be any surprises. She began numbing my upper wisdom teeth area, in which I barely felt anything more than a slight pinch. We conversed for a bit while waiting for the numbness to kick in and to ease my anxiety. Before long, she began to remove my wisdoms one at a time, checking in with me with each one making sure I only felt some pressure but no pain. There were moments my gag reflex kicked in, but Sungha the assistant was quick with the suction and Dr. Oh with the extraction. Within what seemed like minutes, my appointment was finished. Dr. Oh went over some post operative instructions with me and then I was good to go. If you're looking for a dental office that places an emphasis on treatment transparency, patient safety and comfort, I give this office the highest recommendation. Dr. Oh and her team at Avenue Dental are hands down the best dentist practice I have ever experienced anywhere in the world. The communication around each visit was superb and the team has a wonderful ability to listen, assess the dental situation and then recommend the best treatment options, backed up with detailed information. Dr. Oh is clearly passionate about her profession and it is evident in the way she handles her tools that she is extremely skilled, yet has a very gentle touch. Avenue Dental is amazing- I used them for Invisalign treatment and could not be happier. I had great straight teeth until my 30s when crowding happened on the bottom. After less than a year of treatment I now just wear my Invisalign at night and I've even had a good handful of people compliment my teeth, which I haven't heard since my teens. The practice itself is spotless, modern and fresh and they truly have the best technology I've ever seen at a dentist. Avenue Dental is a wonderful dental office. As soon as you walk in you feel like you're in the most modern, state-of-the-art practice. Everything about the office, from the interior decor to the courteous staff, feels warm and welcoming. The front desk lady, Sara, was very sweet and knowledgeable about my insurance and made checking in super easy (you fill out initial "paperwork" on an iPad!). The assistant, Brittney, was also super friendly and did all my X-rays in like 10-15 minutes! Dr. Oh was a pleasure to talk to, she's detail-oriented and did a thorough job with a gentle touch.
