Unfortunately, I have to agree w the other negative reviews. I know AT LEAST 20 other boat owners Newport Beach Marina who refuse to go to Island Marine. They wondered what took me so long to make the switch and now I wonder as well. Island Marine has simply gone downhill. The biggest issue is the young employees need to be replaced w someone who understands customer service OR the owner needs to train them properly and understand what it means to keep customers happy. These kids need to go and grow up a bit or go work somewhere where they don't have to deal w real people. Such a shame. Do yourself a favor and across the waterway to HILLSIDE. HILLSIDE has a really nice dock w new carpeting which will not damage your boat and the empolyees are happy to help you and handle business properly. Another important notes is they offer PREMIUM Octane Gas whereas they don't offer this at Island Marine Fuel. The prices are similar and you can get the octane at HILLSIDE. I truly hope the owner sees this and has enough sense to make the necessary changes at his business. Its very unfortunate to see a business lose customers due to employees who are running the place when the owner is not around.

What a fun experience!…read more This was my first time renting a motorboat and pedal boat from Catalina. The process was smooth and instructions were clear. My friends and I did 1 hour for both activities, but I highly recommend doing 2 hours for the motorboat. For the pedal boat, you're only allowed to stay in the area where all the boats are so if you're looking to go further, rent a kayak or motorboat. You're allowed to go further out with the motorboat and with one hour, we were able to explore a bit of both sides of the island. If you'd like to explore further, definitely add more hours.
