Imagine my surprise when the lady that took my call told me I needed to book a Warrington cab because they were in Golborne. I knew this already because I was born and brought up in Lowton, and me and my family have been using Davron taxis for well over 30 years. Some of these journeys have involved trips to Culcheth (which is only 3 miles away from Golborne, for those of you that dont know), Warrington, and much further afield. I think I may even have been adventurous enough to go to Manchester Airport in a Davron taxi on more than one occasion. I am surprised that Davron now seems to restrict itself to Golborne, firstly because Golborne isnt actually that big (maybe they will still go as far as Lowton- I dont know), and secondly because we are currently in a recession and I mistakenly thought that local businesses needed all the help that they could get. And yes, I do consider Golborne to be local to me in Culcheth as it is only approximately 3 miles away, whereas Warrington is around 7. Its a shame that after all these years of loyalty to Davron, it is now no longer prepared to accept my custom and my money. Disappointed of Culcheth. p.s. I wished to rate this company 0, but that was not an option so I had to give it 1 star. It does not deserve this. p.p.s. I have no idea why my post states that I live in California. I recently booked and paid for an airport transfer both ways to Manchester airport about 3 weeks…read moreprior to flying i paid cash ( they will not take cards ) the driver picked us up and dropped us off ok the problem started when we came back to Manchester they had confirmed by text that they would pick us up at 8.40 PM but by 9.00 PM we had heard nothing so i rang Davron to find out what was going on the lady told me that they only had 1 driver working and could not give me a time of pick up when i asked her what we should do she told me to go and have a cup of tea ? i explained that we had been travelling all day were tired and wanted to get home as soon as possible and if they could not do it i would get a taxi from the airport to home and would expect them to give me the money back she told me she could not do that so i asked to speak to the owner but she would not give me his tel no but said she would contact him and and he would ring me i waited a while but heard nothing so we got a cab home that me cost £ 52 when i got home i rang Davron and told them i would bring the receipt in but she told me to ring the day after which i did and spoke to another lady who after some argument said i could have £34 back ( half the original fare ) i told her i wanted the £ 52 back i had paid out as it was not my fault that they had left us stranded at the airport she then said she was going the phone down and then did so i went to the office later that day and was given £ 34 i again asked to speak to the owner but was told he only comes in for an hour each week and cannot be contacted now i would like to add that i have used this company for the past 10 years 3 / 4 times a year for airport transfers + the odd local fare and have never before had a problem but sadly that reliable polite service seems to have gone and the way their very rude staff treat paying customers with contempt is disgraceful needless to say i will never use this company again and instead will spend my money with a more reliable taxi company

When you book book a taxi over the phone they don't lie when they say they will only be five minutes! On many an occasion I have still been getting ready when the taxi has arrived because I didn't think they were speaking literally when they said they were only going to be five mins! All of the drivers I have ever had have been really nice. They have a chat with you but they are not pervy. They make you feel comfortable and they know all the routes in Bolton very well. They are very reasonable as well.

They knew where we were, the often over-quizzed location, (there is no "flat name") was noted down with no problem, five minutes. Great one. However his route of choice was questionable. Is a shortcut a longer route around because of an inability to stop in traffic lights? It's not a shortcut, it's impatience. Traffic and traffic lights go hand in hand with town. Don't hit the empty back streets and open ring roads and give the impression that it's a shortcut. hmm. Forgiven for now. What I don't understand about many of Manchester's taxis is that they don't know where a lot of my destinations are. When I'm a little sketchy I expect the taxi driver, the authority behind the wheel to fill in the gaps. Often it's a case of guessing games, more so this time than ever. I don't know, is it to too much to expect? We paid £9 driving around Manchester city centre which was a usual £5 fare. And we never made it to the Star and Garter. Was it that difficult? So change of night and venue due to this taxi driver, hardly impressive. Northern Quarter again we find ourselves, not really questioning the failure of the taxi driver or the fare. Our driver gave a fairly smooth ride, impressive given the traffic, and talked rapidly but personably. Phone dispatch went pretty smoothly and the rates were reasonable; overall, a pretty good experience.
