It was dark, and GPS took us the wrong way round to get back to our accommodations. In rural PA, there was no GPS to reroute us so we tried to back track on our own, and immediately missed a turn. So, trying to turn the car around on a narrow wooded lane, we got stuck in the snow. (We're having fun now) Somewhere along the line while trying to unstick ourselves, a protective panel got pulled off the bottom of the engine and was dragging on the road. Great start to our trip. Cue our visit to Monro. Hubby arrived just as they were opening and explained our sad little story to the tech. He put the car up on the lift and within 10 minutes had the car back. Call us surprised. He said 'I just put a couple of bolts in there' and walked away. My SO asked 'What do I owe you'? Answer: Nothing. Talk about turning our day around! I can not express how much this act of kindness has warmed our hearts. This is old school being neighborly. We went from having an 'oh boy' moment to 'Wow!' So Thank You, Thank You Monro. We kept calling to find out when the car would be repaired. No information at all. Finally, on Wednesday, July 29, we got a call about 3:30 that the car was ready. We got there about 4:10 and started the car. It made a horrible noise. Turns out the new part was defective. The mechanics hadn't even checked the car. It took them about 10 minutes to fix it. We had been stranded for 48 hours for a 10 minute repair. We are from the Akron, Ohio area. Our service department mechanics here are much more sympathetic to stranded motorists.
