Only putting one star because I have to pick one. I would say stay as far away from this company as you can.
On April 12, 2019 we took our vehicle to Autostyles on 902 E. North Blvd in Leesburg, Fl. We asked the owner Tim to install front headlights in our vehicle. We provided the headlight so all he was responsible for was a simple installation. I asked him for the price prior to leaving and he said he would call me with the price. One hour and a half passed and I did not hear back from him. I then called him back and asked him for a price and he said he didn't know what it would cost but that it would range from $80-$120. He then called an hour later and told me that he could not install the headlights stating they didn't fit. He also mentioned paying the shop minimum for half an hour which he should have mentioned from the beginning. We went to pick up the car and in conversation, he mentioned he had a friend with the same vehicle and was wanting to get a second opinion on whether the lights would fit if he modified it. He could have provided this information over the phone instead of making us drive over there pick up the car.
He then asked us to leave the lights and we then offered to leave the car just in case he was able to install the lights. He told us if he could install the lights that he would charge the shop minimum. Upon leaving we noticed that the side parking light was sticking out due to not being put back properly and the lower frame of the headlight was broken. We brought it to his attention and he brought out a screwdriver and put the light back in place. We left and at about 4:09 p.m. he called us to let us know that he spoke with his friend and he was not going to be able to modify the lights. He then went on to say that if we had to return the lights the return would be jeopardized in the modification. We asked him at what time he was closing and he said at 5:00 p.m. Then asked where we wanted him to leave the keys, we agreed on a location and that was it.
We went to pick up the car and it was after 5:00 p.m., so he wasn't there. We proceeded to look for the keys which were not in the location we agreed and then I couldn't find the lights I had provided for installation. I called him and he said that the lights were inside the shop giving us some lie about him being concerned that someone would steal it. If he was so concerned about the light why did he leave the key in the side door with the door open (he was aware I had a spare key). He did that because he thought that we weren't going to pay the shop minimum. He was in Ocala and we would have to come back on Monday to pick up the lights. At that time, we also made him aware that he had broken the lower headlight molding piece. He said he had to take a look at it that from the sound of it, it was not broken and he needed to reinstall properly.
We arrived home and we confirmed that the piece was broken so I called him again and he proceeded to tell me that it is not his fault that our car is the age that it is. He can't be held responsible for breaking my headlight due to the age of my vehicle and that he was not going to pay for the piece to be replaced. That if that is the case then he would charge us the whole time the car was there instead of the shop minimum. I kindly told him that I expect him to give us the car back in the same condition we gave it to him and we did not give him the car with the light broken. On Monday we went and picked up the lights and asked him to fix the damage. He took the car into the garage and half an hour came back stating that it had been fixed and gave us out lights. I asked him to show me what he had done and turns out he had glued the piece back together which does not fix what he broke and creates a problem if the headlights need to be removed.
I told him he needs to take care of people's cars as if it was his own and needs to communicate better. He went on to state that he does not need my business. I told him we would call it even since he broke the piece and was not paying the shop minimum. We came home and noticed that the light was loose and not reinstalled properly and, in my attempt, to screw the light back in properly noticed that the interior of the light had also been damaged. Instead of going back there we decided to file a formal complaint because no one should be allowed to do business this way and no one should be treated this way by any business. This was the second time going to this business and would have continued going if he would have simply been more concerned about taking care of his customer.
He delayed us from sending the lights back to the company by 3 days in order to get our money back. While repackaging the lights to send back we also noticed that they had already attempted to modify the lights without our authorization and broke the new light as well. read more
