I spent over a month working with CarMax to have a vehicle transferred from Nevada. There were some…read moreminor back-and-forth issues during the process, but the real problem was the window tint. The vehicle had window tint that is legal in Nevada but illegal in Colorado. The rear windows are limo tint and the front windows were around 28%. I told the agent I was working with at least eight separate times that I could not purchase the vehicle with that tint. Not only is it illegal in Colorado, it also makes the car very difficult to drive at night. Each time, I made it clear that the tint would need to be removed before I could buy the car. To pick up the vehicle, I drove about 1.5 hours south while my mother drove about an hour north to meet me there. When I arrived, they attempted to sell me the vehicle with the illegal tint still on it, despite all the previous conversations where I had specifically asked that it be removed. What is most frustrating is that no one ever told me they would refuse to remove the tint. If they had simply told me that ahead of time, I would have saved three hours of driving and a completely wasted trip. Instead, I showed up only to find out the car was not something I could legally buy or safely drive. Chris at that location (I don't know his last name, and there are two of them) repeatedly assured me things would be handled, but in the end nothing was resolved. The entire experience was extremely disappointing. After this experience, I hope to never do business with CarMax again, especially this location. If you are considering buying a car from here, I would strongly encourage you to think carefully and consider other options. My experience with their customer service was extremely poor, and it felt like my concerns as a customer simply didn't matter.

Family Motors - Before I took it to Family Motors

He listened to my horror story and without making any promises he told me they could make it better than it was. It is truly a blessing that anyone wanted to help. Wayne brought my jeep into his secure shop, he began with the ignition and then just tackled one thing at a time. The jeep was covered in spray paint and he was able to remove all the spray paint, he rebuilt the dash board, replaced the carpet, recovered all my seats and replaced my rear seat. So many changes and I couldn't be more grateful. My jeep is in great shape all because of Wayne, he is amazing!

Their vehicles are competitively priced & their 'clearance' sales are some of the lowest I've seen. I also like supporting family-owned businesses because interactions feel more genuine than they do with big corporations. The individuals I encountered at Family Motors seemed genuine and down-to-earth. That large part of Family Motors gets a 5/5. Unfortunately, my criticisms outweigh my compliments. They are incredibly disorganized as a whole, and this leads to miscommunications, lack of clarity on certain issues, and stressful time crunches to meet deadlines. The manager isn't always good with follow-up & what ends up happening a lot of the time is you have to do most of the legwork in contacting him to figure out what's going on/what you need to do. For instance. The car I bought from them has shitty tint on the windows, and before I bought it Chris said it would be removed. The back window is still partly covered with tint & sometimes impairs visibility. He did try to set up a day where I could come in to get it removed, but he just told me when the tint removal guy was coming in & didn't specify it was a personal appointment made for me at that time, so I thought I could go in at any point that day to get it removed. He made the appointment for 9AM, so when I showed up around 2PM the removal guy was long gone. But, more on their inherent disorganization... My biggest issue I've had with them is they almost f**ked me over on a car loan. I bought a cheap used car from them & applied for a car loan through Family Motors because I'm broke AF. I was accepted by PPCU so I had to begin filling out paperwork with Family Motors to send to PPCU. My loan cosigner is my mom, who lives 1,000 miles away. Obviously, when you have a cosigner on a loan, you need their signature on the paperwork as well. The manager's daughter helped me fill out the paperwork. I gave her my mom's address, confirmed it several times, and it was printed at the very top of the paperwork in plain sight. The deadline for the first loan payment was in 3 weeks so I was constantly checking in with Family Motors wondering when they sent the paperwork to my mom because I didn't want to have a late payment in my record. Each time I checked back with Chris, he would tell me to just check back with PPCU later as they were obtaining the required signatures. The days were drifting by, the deadline was getting closer, and I still heard nothing about paperwork. Then, my mom's paperwork was accidentally and rather carelessly sent to MY address. Normally, this wouldn't be a big deal to me, except this 'little' mistake ended up delaying the paperwork for another week & making me late on my first loan payment... Thankfully, PPCU was very understanding; I explained the whole situation to them & was contacting them on a daily basis about updates/whether or not they received the loan paperwork. They took note of my initiative & responsibility, and didn't penalize me for my late payment. I was more on top of things as a consumer than the business manager was. Interestingly, Family Motors didn't tell anyone at PPCU that the reason the paperwork was delayed was because they screwed up & sent it to the wrong address... Did Family Motors expect me to take the fall for their mistake?? Anyways, after I told PPCU this tidbit of information, they had to contact Family Motors because they basically admitted to me they had no idea what was going on. Everything was up in the air & chaos ensued until things were finally sorted out. In summary, Family Motors has the potential to be a great business. Both Chris & his daughter were humble, flexible, & good-natured, and that's half the battle right there! Good customer service is hard to find but I think Family Motors truly strives for that. All they need to do is get their shit together & keep a tighter ship.

I got a text from Brian Espinoza and he offered a fair trade in price, and found me a new 3500 long bed that I was looking for with all the features I wanted. He presented the deal, and the new truck was a outstanding low price, I agreed. I drove down from the Denver metro and they did exactly what they promised. They kept their word, and had the new truck all detailed, full of diesel, and ready to go. I wrote a check and they played NO GAMES, with me and I would definitely buy from again. They restored my faith in auto dealers. Very good experience.

They had to get two parts from Denver and were still able to get it back to us at 5:00 the next afternoon. We can't say enough good things about AutoNation Dodge RAM Colorado Springs! Mikyla was our service tech and Luke was the diesel mechanic who worked on the truck. Mikyla kept us informed throughout the process. They even sent their shuttle to the RV park (about 40 minutes away) to get us when the truck was ready. They are awesone at taking care of travelers in emergency situations!! What happened: The fan clutch was freewheeling and therefore not engaging, so the truck was running hot. That also had messed up the thermostat, so they replaced it and coolant. They changed the oil because it had gotten hot as well. They cleaned/checked the fuel system. And they replaced the upper brake light (on the cab) that we didn't realize was burned out. Also, on the way to the dealership yesterday, just after an unavoidable really rough patch, my husband heard a grinding, then the dash showed a code "check the 4-wheel drive system". Turns out, the front-axle actuator broke, so they replaced that too. We are so appreciative of the care and concern for us by the service department!
