I have a similar story to the above commenters. I contacted Automarque Scotland through their advert on Autotrader as I was looking to buy a family car. The owner couldn't have done enough for me including bringing the car to my home for me to see and on the day I was due to complete the purchase his card terminal went down, so he offered to drive me to the bank to lift the cash to pay. What I should have considered was that if I HAD paid even part of the payment with a credit card, I would have had consumer protection there. I handed over £2650 in cash and was directed to sign a handwritten statement on the sales document to say that I was being given a £200 discount towards repairs. First I'd heard of it! Four days later the timing belt snapped on my car. I had driven less than 100 miles. The car is a total write-off and the owner has ignored my numerous text messages, emails and letters demanding a refund under the Sale of Goods act. Please PLEASE avoid this garage like the plague. read more
