I was quoted for 6 days, and had my vehicle back in 2. However, the quality of the repair was very poor. Several scratches were missed and buffing compound was all over the door crevices and plastic trim when I received it (it cannot be removed from the plastic so this will have to be replaced). They took my vehicle back for a second time and offered me a ride to work for that day, and the swirling somewhat improved, but they did not fix some of the small scratches. I am now having another shop fix their work. Gerber also asked me to indicate on the Carwise review to say my vehicle did not have to be brought back in, in order to improve their online ratings. Photos included. Update: One day after posting this, someone with the same name as one of the technicians posted his own 5-star review claiming to be a customer. Super shady stuff going on here.

I have the same expectations when it comes to working on my vehicles. Safelite this morning failed to verify information and has destroyed my trust in them. When anyone schedules service you give them your VIN so they can order correct parts and verify the correct vehicle on service. This morning when the tech was scheduled to be here, I had not heard anything. I proceeded outside and did not see the van. I pulled out my phone to see if I had a missed call and noticed I missed two text messages. The first message was that the tech was getting started and the second was a pre-authorization receipt. I proceeded to call the local shop and asked if this was an error. They seemed confused and quiet. They stated they would call the tech and check in. A few moments later the tech called asking me to step outside as he needed to speak with me. I asked him if he was next to my car. He stated he was, and I informed him that he was not at my car. He then stated that he thinks he is working on the wrong car. The local shop then called me and asked how I would like to handle this. I stated to cancel the appointment due to the tech did not even verify the VIN correctly. I was told that the tech did verify the VIN. I challenged that was not possible as the VIN of my vehicle matched the receipt and I was next to my car. They stated back "Well he checked it." I asked if they believed that I was lying and they got upset. I was then asked if I wanted them to come down and work on my vehicle, which I declined as their tech could not even complete a VIN check. Needless to say, this is unprofessional and very dangerous. I stated several times about the vehicle they are working on was wrong. They were working on someone's car without permission. These statements were dismissed by Safelite in 2 of the phone calls. So, buyers beware and remember the importance of verifying information and the person being selected to work on your vehicle.

Just falls down on my Volkswagen, leaving a giant crack in my windshield and huge dents on my roof and hood, among other body damage. (Funny enough this is the second time a tree has fallen on a VW that I own and third time a tree has fallen on my property in general. I seem to have sucky karma with trees. Anyway ...) We knew we needed to at least repair the windshield before driving the 10-12 hours home. The body work could wait. Considering we were at my family's lake house in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, there were not any auto glass repair shops in town. A quick Yelp search led us to the Safelite in Rice Lake, about an hour away. We called their automated number, gave them our insurance claim number (they work with State Farm) and got the next available appointment, which was on Monday, the day after we were supposed to be home. So we took an extra day off and showed up with a car full of luggage, hoping to get a new windshield and then continue with the trek home. Thankfully, Safelite was on time for the appointment. They finished in just shy of an hour and a half, which was on the low end of the time quoted. And they pulled up the relevant insurance info. We ended up not owing any money out of pocket for the windshield. They even moved the sticker with info on my next oil change to my new windshield. Driving home without their help could have been a nightmare for lots of reasons. Thanks, Safelite, for taking at least the worry about the windshield off of our plates.

So I put on the correct year, make, and model. I received a quote for $399. I chose a time and got a confirmation e-mail and text. The final price with tax was $437.80. Sales tax is 5.5% or $22.95 so they added $16.85 worth of miscellaneous charges that didn't show up until the service appointment was made. I drove 45 minutes to the facility in Rice Lake, only to find they ordered the wrong glass. They could get the correct glass the next day, great, but the price went up to $531. I asked if they would honor their original quote, especially after I drove 45 minutes to a busted appointment. They said no. They didn't seem to care and were totally unapologetic. Unfortunately there is no option to give them zero stars, so one star will have to do.
