The Zerk fitting was pointed into the tire and there was no way to connect a grease gun to get lubricant into the joint. Plus there were a few other things that needed attention. So I had the front end reworked. Now it doesn't make a sound. No more grinding or squeaking. They have the equipment to align the front end so that's all correct after all the work. All of this took almost all day. I had the truck there at 8am when they opened and they called about 3:30 in the afternoon to say it was ready. I would highly recommend "Bill's Motor Works". It is a highly competent staff. Beats the dealer hands down. I was pleasantly surprised when they presented me with the initial estimate. For all the work that was needed I expected a hefty price tag. Not so! Bill's is very affordable and that is a nice thing to find when today's prices are getting a little out of control. Will I be back? I've already called, YESTERDAY.... I asked "so do you folks do tires"? yes they can. So I'm getting tires shipped to them and they will mount them for me. Yeah, I'm not happy with the local tire companies either.

Jake's Trusted Auto is the best of the best. I needed to be towed and asked the local AAA tow…read moretruck driver for a recommendation for a place to take my car where I wouldn't be treated as a "stupid woman" when I walked in the door. It's my personal experience that the major automotive chains tend to put a "sucker" sticker on a woman alone or any of the elderly for that matter. They see only $$$$ signs and jack up the prices and try to sell you repairs that you just don't need. The tow truck driver knew what I meant because his girlfriend recently experienced such a thing when he sent her to pick up a tire for him at a local tire place. The price was double for her. He called the place and the guy said... oh? that was for you? Enough said. The tow driver said he would take his own vehicle to Jake's if he did not do his own repairs. They have a reputation of getting your car in and out and will tell you exactly what you need now and what can wait. They are honest and run the business with integrity. They are not out to get the "sucker" and sell you repairs/parts you don't need. That is exactly what I was looking for! I took my car there. It is old but with very low mileage. It sits a lot. Jake's found 4 problems. One would correct the intermittent noise I had. One was a major safety issue and two could wait. Jake worked with me on the price of the two major issues so I was able to get the car fixed. The entire experience was painless. Let me back up a minute. When I first arrived at the shop, an elderly man came in to pick up his car. He had been told by "one of those major auto chains" that his car required a new serpentine belt. He brought the car to Jake's for a 2nd opinion. Jake's mechanic found NOTHING wrong whatsoever with his car. He charged the man $0. Nothing for his time. Zip. That is my kind of place! I had the pleasure to meet most of the staff at Jake's from the wonderful young woman in the front office to many of the mechanics as they came through the office, to the manager Drew and the owner Jake. They are a well oiled machine and I highly recommend this shop to everyone especially women and the elderly. Good job Jake's Trusted Automotive!

Stay far away from this place. I brought my vehicle in as it was having major engine problems, bad…read moreknocking and stalling out. This is a really old and beat up vehicle and I was already shopping for a new car, and as such I let this place know up front that I was not willing to put over $1,000 worth of work into something I was about to replace. If the repairs would be a few hundred only then would it make sense. That was my first mistake, to be up front and honest with them in the hopes they would be the same. I was given a first round of repairs estimate that was a little over $700. I asked again how confident they were this would cover the primary issues, and reiterated my unwillingness to put any more than that tops into this vehicle. Here the exchange got combative and defensive. They even accused me of trying to lure them into a trap. What? I'm just trying to get a thorough and honest assessment of what I'm looking at here. I should have walked away right then and there. But, I let them do the repairs, which was replacing the Oxygen Sensors and a coil, and surprise, surprise, another $600+ worth of repairs would be needed. My vehicle had a clogged catalytic converter that was melting oxygen sensors, pretty bad damage, which all totaled would come out to around $1,400 worth of work, well over what I said up front would be past my willingness to invest. Here's the thing, I researched what would make an oxygen sensor melt (these things are metal) and consulted other mechanics. The issue is rare and the only thing that would have caused it is a bad catalytic convertor. I am entirely convinced this place knew I wouldn't pay for the full repairs, so they feigned ignorance of the total issue so as to at least put me on the hook for $700. My wife went in and paid for the car because I was so irate that to have further personal contact with these people would come to no productive good. They tried to tell her that the vehicle without the work would overheat and possibly catch fire if we tried to drive it away. In truth, the vehicle made it several miles without so much as an engine light and ran smoother than it had in years. On top of that, the mechanic offered to have a "friend" take the damaged vehicle off our hands for us because it was a shame we weren't going to finish fixing it. I'm not even sure that is legal. I'm sure the vehicle needs the work, but at every step I felt like I was taken for a ride and fed lines of untruths all along the way. My experience seems to mirror others as well, do yourself a favor, go find a AAA endorsed mechanic and steer clear of this place entirely.
