I had been shopping for a remote starter just about everywhere in a 25 mile radius, and decided to go with Auto One after stopping in twice with questions.
Right off the bat, I appreciated their up-front pricing. Every other place would start with one price, and then it would slowly creep up. "Oh, your car was built after 1992? Well, you need this $75 adapter. And if you want your locks to work, it'll be another $100. And if you want your car to stay parked and not careen off in to a group of orphans, you need a KXI-P12 module, which we have to order from Hong Kong..."
Instead, the different people I spoke with at Auto One actually suggested I go with a less expensive unit than I had come in for, and the price that was listed on the wall was the price that I was asked to pay when the job was done. I was never once hit up for add-ons, and the final price was comparable to everywhere else I checked.
As for the installation, I was pretty impressed. These guys do a clean job, for sure. Everything was put back together so well, you'd really have to look to see any difference from the way the car came from the factory. They told me it would take up to four hours, and called me after three and a half.
Shortly after the installation, I discovered that the "2000 foot range" was really closer to 400 feet line-of-sight, and was pretty disappointed. I knew this was a manufacturer claim and not Auto One's fault, but wanted the problem resolved. Rather than blow me off or try to stick me with labor charges to uninstall / re-install, one of the managers offered to exchange the unit for the next model up for a very reasonable price.
If I need any of the services they offer in the future, I'll definitely be back. read more
