I was looking for their new address and was surprised to see some of the reviews below. Thought I'd share more information for those looking to come to this church. Firstly, this is a nondenominational Christian church. By its very nature, it doesn't teach the philosophies of other Christian churches such as Baptist, Presbyterian, etc. What they have in common is the belief in the Bible and Jesus, but if you're looking for a place with hard stances on certain social or political issues, then this isn't the place. Faith Community preaches Christian values and biblical scripture to empower individuals to make their own choices. They will not, however, tell you what to think. Yes, it's a feel good church. You'll come here to get the word of God and hear a practical approach to the Bible. Every service focuses on a particular subject and sometimes they hold a series of services focusing on a particular story in the Bible. It's a great way to incorporate Biblical teachings into modern day life. Services typically feel practical, inspirational, and refreshing. Some people may prefer the "tough love" type of preaching and that's fine too, but you won't find it here. They do, however, have additional services for those seeking more focused Bible studies, women's group, etc. The congregation is diverse. The people that come here are all on a different path on their journey with God - some new to the church, some skeptics, and some who come from traditional evangelical backgrounds. Like any church, tithing takes part at some point in the service. And like any church, you're encouraged to give. It's completely up to the person though, and no one will guilt you if you don't. Personally, I've always been happy to give because I get to experience the donations at work. At the old location, this meant a clean and comfortable space that was always well-maintained and accessible for everyone. To me (and many others), it was clear that the money was well invested into the church. I hope my perspective helps others determine if this may be the right church for them! read more

Great community of believers seeking Jesus I enjoy the fellowship and I enjoy God's Word

Where to begin, The church isn't what it used to be. Pastor Jim and his messages made Faith Church feel like home. The whole family would look forward to his message. The vibes are different now. Going to pastor Dan's services feels "off". That is the only nice word I can think of. The past three to five years I have tried to get with the new Pastor and let go of the Dad, but the services just aren't even close to what they were. The new building is really confusing , so much smaller, and then the services just feel awkward and for little kids. I wanted to grow my Faith with the Church I came to since I was a kid but it's just not the same. Now there are no other pastors, only the son. In the past we would hear from multiple different adults, and each of them had their own unique but good way of delivering the Word. I truly know the son is giving his best effort so I do not want to be mean, but rarely ever does his service make the drive worth it. I caught myself then going online to try and still attend, but save gas. But now I just think it's time to realize it's the Word given by the wrong person. If you go .. expect 25-30 minutes of amazing band ( this is half the service, a bit long but still they are amazing) , the church is so welcoming, everyone is smiling, and happy. Good vibes 100%. All to feel underwhelmed by the service and weird moments at the end when you stand and they take 10 minutes talking about offering...Giving is good but about a month ago pastor Dan talked about a trip he took to Dubai or his dad did; I forget. Anyways if you listen close enough to the stories , you'll hear where the money is, and truthfully I feel this pastor doesn't connect with us due to the lavish lifestyle he lives and the fact his place as head pastor for Faith Church was handed to him by his father. No way this guy went to school like his Dad on theology. You can tell in the way he delivers the message. I honestly don't know but all of my tias and grandmother no longer attend , and I am sad to say I will be joining them on leaving this church. The church is nice and a good start. Very welcoming, but idk what happened to the message. It's now all generic and sometimes corny. All in all , I wish the church the best but I miss the old one I grew up on. Loved this church when Dr. Jim was the pastor. Went to it for years because Pastor Jim's message was always resounding and genuine. There's no secret that being a good communicator is a staple for any man to convey any thoughts or words. Same holds true for men conveying the word from the Bible. As hard as his son may try, genetics and heredity hadn't yet guaranteed that talent or ability. Watching this "handing off of the torch" seemed to me to be a bit premature and not well thought out. Unlike Pastor Jim, there is a major disconnect between his son and his audience and perhaps led by a slight shade of arrogance on top of that. I do wish them all the best and hopefully his son can one day find his niche', In the meantime, I am sad that a place I used to call my church home is no longer but I still have faith that the "magic" of Faith Community is somewhere still out there for me to find. read more

Wish you the best Faith Community. I know you're not at this location any longer, you selling the building. I pray that God will lead you, Pastor Jim and family to a better location and PURPOSE! PLEASE! concentrate on the REAL Word of God, the Bible! It's good news for sure but it's NOT JUST about "feel good" or theatrics, this is why I left. It's about ALL things Christian. The beginning and the end. Continue to focus on the community and steer AWAY from celebrity comments. We don't care. Tithing is important but it's NOT the main focus of the church. My family and I had to walk away from FCC. The word began to fade and the offering and tithe became the main focus. When you're blessed with such a big platform and the purpose to spread the word of God the vision is clear your purpose is to let people know and teach the word of God and steer them from the worldly ways, teach them Of the spiritual battles we are in. The bells and whistles over came the purpose. We found a home at Extended hand in Christ in Baldwin Park. . I urge anyone to follow them and learn the word from the Bible, along with the things happening in the world and the spiritual connection. We are in a spiritual battle and we need to be aware. Amen! Started going to FCC about 1991 at the previous location. Continued over the years but as I grew as a Christian I realized that the sermons are just feel good sermons and I don't hear them addressing the real issues and spiritual fight that we are going through in these end times. An example of what the sermon's should be like is Dr. Gene Kim from San Jose Bible Baptist Church. His sermons can be seen on YouTube. We are nearing the end of time and messages about this need to be heard and you are not going to hear them at FCC. read more

I repent of coming here I used to come to this church for years ( It seemed to have a Feel good scripture message) Jesus spoke more about hell than Heaven I realized this pastor Doesn't have a Deliverance team Doesn't have Apostles or Prophets Only has less than 1 hr Service and asks for tithing all 3 services on sundays :( The Pastor may be a nice man but Jesus Spoke with Authority he didn't care who he pissed. read more

i started going to faith when i was 8 years old and they were in westco on badillo. 2003ish. i attended pretty much every weekend with my friends and family, from kidznet to youth group, harvest festivals, church camps, and "big church". i stopped regularly attending towards the end of high school. i moved for college and later, my family moved from the area. now i heard they sold the building to amazon?? yikes. -1 star for capitalism. i really grew up at faith and grew into my faith at faith. as a black, first gen immigrant kid, i always felt like non-denominational churches were very white, but the ethnic/age/income diversity of faith honestly made me feel at home. more than anything, pastor jim's approach to teaching the gospel was a joy to witness. he wasn't just about making the congregation "feel good", he was truly a teacher. he preached like a scholar. as a nerd, i appreciated that. i would sit in church and take actual notes. he showed us that the Word is really living and it can be applied to our lives. (years later, i still remember his series on the many names of Jehovah, and "the sign is not the thing-- the sign is the thing that points to the thing!!") but over the years, faith really did lean into the spectacle of megachurches. the 15 back-to-back services on easter, the high production christmas specials, the hillsong-esque worship team, the pastor in the skinny jeans, the knockoff starbucks, a massive decked-out game room for teens, etc. and then there was that random time terry crews flexed his pecs on stage because he was promoting some tv show???? but i digress. in the 00s, when the modern christian church was finding its footing, faith did seem like a place where you could find *community* and deepen your faith. a few weeks ago i randomly watched a bunch of recent faith sermons on youtube. all i can say is.... huh??? bc does pastor dan even have a background in theology? been in seminary? i'm a pastor's kid and i grew up in the church, so i can tell when a pastor has memorized lines/is following a template, vs when they're actually a scholar of the Word and preaching comes naturally to them. -1 star for nepotism (and if it wasn't nepotism, then they should update pastor dan's bio on the website) i'm not an expert and i don't mean to judge. but the vibes are way off. in general, mainstream non-denominational church culture is so weird these days. the authenticity seems like it's not really there. just my observation/opinion/assumption. ultimately, 3/5 stars. we're all looking for different things in a church, and faith church might be a great fit for some people. i genuinely wish everyone at faith well. i think this review is actually a love letter from me to faith community church. as i've been writing this, the memories have been flooding in. i'm grateful for all the amazing youth group leaders who prayed for me over the years, for the people i met, for all the beautiful services, the incredible worship team. it wasn't perfect, but i'm blessed that i was able to find my community in such a massive church. thank you for decades of beautiful memories. read more

I like how they have salvation messages every Sunday and they baptism once a month. I needed a reference for a small auto body job, so I called the church. After days, "pastor" Steve responded with, we don't refer. I asked if they had a postings board, Steve said no. He's an intentionally concise guy. He did want me to go to a apologetics course at the end of the year, so, lets stay in touch. I had an odd exchange with him in the foyer, but was also a good convo. Later, I called him and we spoke over the phone, of course concisely. I told him, I panic and I need to talk to someone about my panic. Here's his exact response - "I'm not a licensed counselor, I can't offer you any on-going support, we can meet 1x in the foyer." ...I had something come up for that day we were suppose to meet, Sun prior to church, so I left a VM on Sat night, telling him I couldn't make it, please call me, and left my ph numb. I have to agree with Debbie D. These people do not care about people. It's a pyramid scheme. They over ephasize their children's program - school , playground (which they're redoing, it was fine before, but greedy people like these want the best), and many many children's rooms, and far more rooms...for...what? I spoke with the admin and she told me that they don't do weekly services anymore...they're bible study groups aren't vibrantly active, so why do they need countless amt of rooms? They're want people to get saved, amazing worship, baptized, and hear a quality message. They've got that down. But, as far as being personal people and doing their job, they don't. A pastors job is to pastor!!! So, if Steve doesn't refer and refuses to counsel, what does he do? He collects a pay check, that's it! Here's the biggest problem - People keep going there and keep giving their money. If people would stop going there and stop giving their money, then the "leadership" would have to reconsider and maybe change. Its a mediocre church of 4,000. Steve, what do you do other than collect a pay check? Why don't you care about people? That's your job! All the churches in Revelation were criticized on some level, except 1. Only one, Jesus said, "good job." So, the likelyhood of you/church being the "one", statistically, not a good chance. Steve and the staff marginally care about people. Steve certainly doest care about people with the care of Christ. read more

In the beginning, the church had great insight and care for people. There were pastors like Pastor Gif, Pastor Tommy, Pastor Steve, and even Bob Reaves were really good and had love for the People. That was in the late 80s. Bob told me his brother Jim had a falling out over where the church was headed. So Pastor Bob left and started his own church. The other pastors were let go (fired) by Jim which left the church board all family so they could do anything they wanted. They made family members pastors when they had no rights to be pastors just to keep this family business going. In the old church on Sunset pastor Jim was relentless asking for more and more money to purchase the new property on Badillo in West Covina. A separate offering every Sunday. Over time the members finally came up with enough money to buy the property. I left when they were moving into the new property because the church was all about expanding and getting more money and tv shows like a Megachurch. They sold that property for over $58 million and moved to a very small property in Glendora. Question: Where did all the money go? Who took it? Be very careful with these people. It is just a sleazy family business disguised as a loving church, just like Hillsong. read more

Last Sunday was amazing. We were stuffing from the book of Matthew. And it's always great growing in the word and being able to relate to life and go through a spiritual journey. God is good and his word reminds me to be still and have faith and be the light so others will follow. It's not at our time, it's his time. And we are to be obedient in the word to listen and receive the blessings. Also the singer Jeremiah was amazing. He reminded me of a Bruno Mars singer...full of spirit and passion. Keep it up and keep teaching the word. Study time is always great. I like this church. This 1 Star is to let Jim know or whoever is charge of the people know that it's sad that the church got so big that people are forgotten. No matter how big or how blessed we are...never forget about the people. I met a man today who asked me what church I currently go to and I go to different ones depending on my friends who ask me to go meet them. Today was Faith. And the man told me his good friend Jerry a truck driver passed away 3 years ago and no one from the church went to visit him on his death bed when Jerry's family asked for any of the pastors to come. The church said to go, they charge. Super sad!!! Jerry has been faithful to the church and tithe 10% since they first opened and passed away at age 70's. This is sad. The church needs to contact Jerry's wife to apologize and have no excuse being too big. read more

Ok lets start with I've only been there twice. Its a good news church, its for baby Christians people looking for more meat in the preaching will not find it here in a mega church. You need to really try and find small groups in this church to make it work out spiritually and grow. Secondly speaking from experience the infant and toddler care is under staffed apparently. This church is high tech this and sound system that and they can't get cameras in the nursery to monitor your babies? My six month was left in the nursery on my second visit 8-5-15 and I just had a gut feeling I shouldn't leave him. And sure enough gets injured. I get called, they file an incident report. I don't understand how a child gets injured in a walker so bad on his eye while being monitored. This mega church should invest in cameras that parents can monitor and sign in from phones. Attached is a picture of the injury. When i showed up he was crying and had raw skin exposed. Suggestion: families with new born- toddlers stay in family rooms and watch your own babies. Distance and Pastor Jim's way of teaching brought me here in Faith for 9 years now. I must admit I was brokenhearted when they had to move far from where I live and so because I know our community needs a church like Faith. I love to attend a church that doesn't remind me of my issues and what the whole week's problems are but a place where, every Sunday, reminds us how Christ overcame the world. It irks me when preachers keep on including in their teachings what our life issues are (from our family, relationship, job, finance etc ) mind you, I do count how many times they need to say these in their sermons instead of making it a big part on their " Sunday messages" what the Bible says about the love of GOD. More of an evangelical way. This is what we need every Sunday- the power of community praise and prayer. A reminder that we have GOD instead of mentioning our problems and life issues over and over again. We already know what our issues are that's why we go to church, what we need every Sunday is to hear MORE words that we have a community of faith, and that we have a GREAT GOD in all of us. read more

I used to belive in the Lord until I went to this church. What first struck me was when the Pastor spoke about how he has a small house compared to what other pastors have in a church of this magnitude. His house was (or is) 2 stories and very big for him and his wife. At the time I remember him and his wife both drove Mercedes Benz with the upgraded wood grain interior. It disgusts me to think about what they teach and how little Jesus had on earth. Yet these pastors are glutinous and live lives of complete luxury. Between that and putting a Starbucks in the church I was awe struck to the means which this congregation operates. They would ask for money 2 or 3 times a sermon!!! Don't go here if your looking to find the Lord, I lost him here. read more

There is no perfect church. But Faith Community is a place anyone can go to with flaws and all and be embraced. This has been my home church for over 2 years. I have gotten to know many volunteers and staff personally, including the pastors. They are great people. Even they will tell you they aren't perfect, but they have a heart for God and ministry. And that culture reflects on everyone that serves and works here. It's a very diverse community of believers. There's an awesome worship team. Not only is the music excellent quality, but it's lead by humble leaders and lovers of Jesus. There's great children and student ministries. This year the young adult ministry kicked off and is going great. Common interest groups are available for ages 18-30ish. The Spanish Ministry has also started and is great for those that prefer a fully Spanish service experience. Bottom line, a church is a great way for someone to draw near to God, seek to find that higher purpose in life, and congregate with other people doing life together. But the church itself is not God. We will be disappointed when we hold people to that standard. We are all works-in-progress. Come with an open heart and mind, and experience one of the many ways that God loves us. Used to go to Faith years ago and always hated how they would dedicate entire sermons on tithing, saying things like 'once you give your 10%, then paying your own bills becomes much easier'. Who are they trying to fool? They've dipped into the coffers to pay hush money to cover their family scandals while driving luxury cars and taking fancy vacations. So glad to walk away from this place. Also hated how Jim used to tell all his racist jokes and was thankful he attended a black church growing up. At first it was amusing then got annoying. I came in with my wife and kids after the 8am service, the environment is very comfortable with tables and couches inside. There was a bit of a line and I would like to see them move the menu forward 10ft so that we can read it while waiting in line. We get to the register and the barista Yesenia was patient and helped the kids order something they would like and helped get ouR order to us quickly. It is a beautiful courtyard to sit and enjoy company. Thanks faith! read more

The "pastors" are in it for the money, they drive Mercedes, tesla, and Audi S7. "Dr." Jim Reeves isn't a real doctor. He uses that term so he can get more respect. He may or may not have a PhD in theology, but calling himself doctor is a stretch. I went to a service and they talk more about sports than Jesus! read more

I decided to give this church a try after hearing many good things about it. By this time I have attended a handful of Christian churches in the area and DTLA and still trying to find that home church. Driving up to the parking lot I can see that there was going to be a highly attended event. I have also never noticed how big the parking lot was and how much was filled up already. I found my way through the crowd and was greeted with a familiar environment that i recognized from the churches I attended in DTLA. Strobe lights + concert music and a decorated stage. The worship music was upbeat with some individuals leading the singing and music. After worship, a team of people known as prayer warriors assembled in a line on the front of the stage. People filled up the aisle ways in long lines waiting for their turn to be able to speak to the prayer warriors. It looked like face-to-face confession that I once observed from the Catholic churches. The pastors' messages were feel-good and nothing short of self help/prosperity gospel that was only missing an appearance by Joel Osteen. If you scroll down these reviews another user mentioned that Joel Osteen videos have already been shown at these services. I hope people that want to follow Jesus Christ will eventually seek more of God and be able to grow in the faith. read more

I attended this church twice, and I will not go back. Each time, it was all one big show with no authentic worship. Pastor Jim is the main reason I won't be going back. He talked about several things he's done and named a bunch of celebrities he knows (as if they are more important than everyday folks, his regular churchgoers, his community!). I wanted to like this church, I really did. Because of that, I gave it a fair shake by attending numerous services over half a year. Right off the bat, the worship team rocked with some great contemporary praise and worship music. Hats off to that team and their passion. Unfortunately, there were a few warning signs about the church that set my spiritual Spidey Sense tinglin'. Dr. Jim seems nice enough, but most of his sermons are more geared towards that self-help topical format, without enough Biblical references. I felt that if I attended this church regularly, I likely wouldn't learn much about the Bible that I didn't already know. Milk rather than meat. His sermons are also devoid of much reference to sin, repentance and the consequences. That usually to me is another big red flag. The straw that broke the proverbial camel's back was when he played a video from Joel Osteen. Any discerning, mature Christian knows that the criticisms of Osteen are valid. His prosperity health and wealth gospel is a false gospel that classifies him as a false teacher to me. And any church that endorses and aligns themselves with Osteen cannot be trusted. I left on that day and never came back. California has a trend towards these megachurches and celebrity pastors. I urge Christians and non-believers to seek out smaller churches that are solidly rooted in the Bible. As for me, I'm currently attending West Covina Christian Church now and find it to be a much more godly church led by mature pastors who preach heavily from the Scriptures. read more

You may rate this church differently / higher depending on what matters to you. This church does have some very redeeming aspects - the musical performances overall are amazing, the congregation has a lot of friendly people, the facility is very nice, the child care is very secure to us and enjoyable for our son. Where it is lacking, to me, is in the message delivered during the service. In that regard, it appears that preaching duties are split between the father and son - Jim and Dan. I actually like the father quite a lot and look forward to hearing his sermons. His sermon on Easter Sunday was especially good, he even sang "The Old Rugged Cross" which was moving. I feel a little badly saying so but the son needs to work on his craft, a lot. His sermons are not much than a bunch of non-connected anecdotes from and references to his family, childhood, pop culture, things he's heard, etc. He seems more interested in sounding cool than in delivering a sermon that is coherent and based in scripture. read more

I attended this church a few years ago. there are many nice people there, but I believe the leadership is all about prosperity and feeling good about yourself. there is rarely any mention of sin, repentance or humbling yourself before God. its all about show and a "look at how awesome we are" attitude. I believe my wife still attends there. She was told by the staff she didnt have to remain married to me if she wasnt happy. no lie. Seek out a bible believing church that focuses on the Word and teaches selflessness and not selfishness. I am now attending a Calvary Chapel. yeah, the worship may not be as "awesome" as theirs, but its honest and heartfelt. not a performance, but Godly and genuine. and please dont hate on my review. have some class and show some tolerance for an honest review. It's all about giving, giving, giving your hard earned money that is.. & that is the ONLY way their "God" is going to financially bless you... It's been a long time since we've been to church.. & I was quickly reminded why.. Went for a Baby dedication.. best part was being with my family.. There was 5% REAL preaching & when not presenting the babies.. they were asking / telling YOU the public to give them your money.. My husbands says he felt like he was sitting through a sales pitch.. I agree.. What a shame people {literally} BUY into this.. Their gimmick "today" was a fighting/ boxing ring with tidbits of "I am the Tiger" & The 8 mile rift from Eminem.. My husband went to faith for many years to help at the 10:15 and 12:15 every Sunday. About two weeks ago was is last day there because we are moving.I can,t believe that on is last day no one from that church say good by or says a thank you. This is my favorite place to be on Sunday. I volunteer work in the parking team and I see a lot of interesting and exciting people here every Sunday. Faith has quite a few community outreaches, especially around Thanksgiving and Christmas. The best preachers here are Jim Reeves and Dawn Jackson. Excellent speakers and well worth the trip. The diversity this church attracts is incredible. The coffee shop snack bar is outstanding for its friendliness. When you go in the church you are first met by greeters, these people are the most welcoming people imaginable and they make you feel right at home. They do pass a collection plate, but you don't have to put anything in it. Churches are expensive to run. But attendance and everything else here except the coffee shop is free. The church offers a lot, but, you can take what you need, and leave what you don't want. There is no pressure, no instance that you believe a certain way, only assurance that God loves you. read more

Bill E. Is right... First, Pastor Jims message was trying to teach the difference between: dreams and fantasy. He said "it wasn't a dream of mine to join the NBA(national basketball association)" "it was a fantasy of mine because I'm not the right Color or Height for that sport"... So basically theres only black people in the NBA and NO OTHER RACE AT ALL - according to "dr. Jim" Then he made a comment and said "I wish I could say it multiple time like T.D. Jakes but I can't, I'm a white guy. ." After he was trying to teach the difference between faith and reality, and said " if one of my Babys came out black, the reality of that is he's most-likely not my kid, my kids should come out with fair skin and red hair, that's the reality".... LOL Honestly, those comments don't make me angry, I just feel there not necessary at church, but I'm sure that's just his personality and might take some getting use to. read more
