The bathroom also served as the shower--typical in China. staff was very friendly and accommodating. If you need to add nights, do it in advance as they raised the rates when I did because it was last minute. The rates for the last week of August were $280HKD a night, and $300HKD a night for the extension. Don't fear Chingking, stay at Dhillon Hotel!

On the web, they're also known as "GDH" across various third party sites, which only lends to the confusion. It's not that obvious if they want to bill themselves as a modern mid tier hotel, or top billed one. For now, it's an option for folks who want to stay in TST. They have a lot of lot of things going for them: * They're located about 5 minutes from the N1 / A2 exits of the MTR and two big blocks from the buses along Nathan Road, making this a convenient option for public transit access. * Situated in Tsim Sha Tsui, they're not only in one of the most prominent hoods in all of the city, but they're also smack dab in an area where there are other boutique hotels, Hong Kong Style Cafes, bars and lounges, and plenty of malls to shop nearby. It is also relatively easy to find a cab here, though with the subway being so close, I wouldn't bother unless it's late at night. * Their pricepoint ranges from $500HKD-$1,000HKD, which makes them an affordable hotel option in the heart of the city center. (Though, if you're paying any more than this, you should consider another hotel property) * They also just experienced a semi-major facelift, which means they've got fancier digs in addition to a cleaned up face for the street. And a few things that aren't so pleasant: * Many of the rooms haven't undergone the renovation yet, so the antiquated, smokers paradise feel is very much a valid complaint. * The walls are thin. Thin enough to hear things most people don't want to hear and conversations that sound like they're practically outside the door. * WiFi is weak. Depending on the room assignment, the coverage could use some serious improvement. * Prat might be a small street, but it's a loud one with The Right Place (https://www.yelp.com/biz/the-right-place-香港), Butterfly (https://www.yelp.com/biz/晉逸精品酒店-香港-3) directly across the street. * Customer service seems to be an ongoing issue here. I have seen more disputes at the front desk than I've actually stayed at the hotel. * Clientele is catered toward the large number of mainland Chinese travelers. English is not a priority, though only a handful of the staff can actually speak it well. * Though not impossible, this is not really the most family friendly hotel due to the area.

Details: - Our room was about 235sq feet--small but not cramped, and with a separate and surprisingly large bathroom. I say surprisingly because HK hotels are famous for their tininess, but this room seemed palatial compared to some I'd seen online. - Wifi was included free, and pretty fast and reliable, though it dropped out momentarily here and there. - The location is literally a two-minute walk from the TST station's A2 exit. - We stayed on the 11th floor, and up there we were high enough to see the sky and get a decent amount of light. The view wasn't the most inspiring--it's a "city view" per their website, but don't imagine expanses of neon towers; our view was of just a few buildings across from an alleyway. - The room came with complimentary bottles of water--two small bottles every time the room was prepped by the maid--and an electric kettle, with coffee and bags of pu'er tea. - The "Noble Quad" lounge on the 17th floor is handsomely appointed and feels very airy due to big windows and some outdoors space, but alas, has no view. Misc neighborhood memories: - Check out Lucky Dessert (http://www.yelp.com/biz/%E7%99%BC%E8%A8%98%E7%94%9C%E5%93%81-%E9%A6%99%E6%B8%AF-10) at the end of Pratt. It's about a half-minute walk from the hotel and offers excellent desserts, including Hong Kong specialties like mango grapefruit sago. - Also, if staying here, the Museum of History is only about a five minute walk. There are English tours once a week. - Lastly, there's a cool-looking Singaporean grilled-sandwich shop at the other end of Pratt, but it's skippable. If you're in desperate need of any sort of toast, then, by all means, this is your place. Otherwise, there's better food to be had. Other thoughts: I liked this hotel and would feel comfortable recommending it to anyone, but if I came back to Hong Kong, I'd try to stay somewhere with a view. It would cost more and maybe be a bit less central, but Hong Kong is a city meant to be seen from high up and at a distance.

If you want swanky swanky, go over a bit more east to The Excelsior (owned by the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group). *The front of the hotel is really unassuming and you have to take the elevator up one floor to the lobby. *The location in Central is great - a 20 minute walk from the Hong Kong MRT station and also walkable to LKF and all the other hot neighborhoods. *The room itself was clean and comfortable. It's Hong Kong-sized so I wasn't surprised. Try staying at a microhotel in Europe - THOSE are actually what I'd call small/tiny. * Like most HK hotels du jour, they also provide a cell phone with free local calling & some data if you need it. You can also rent a few things from the front desk like a selfie stick, HDMI, portable fan, etc. *We also had a small, but nice view of the bay! *The only complaint I have is that we could smell someone smoking on our non-smoking floor. This along with many other newer hotels in Hong Kong provides a cell phone in the room that you can take with you to have a local number and internet to look at google maps. Hotels with this option immediately jump to 3 stars in my mind. The free breakfast is underwelming. 2 pieces of toast, a drink, and 3 entree options that stay the same every morning. The bathroom door etc. is literally made of glass so you also have zero privacy and whoever you're with will literally see you doing your business. They provide body wash but no hand soap. No shampoo or conditioner. Only two cheap towels and only two HORRIBLE pillows. The bed is rock hard. You also have no AC control so our room was freezing. If I was paying like $25 USD a night I'd say ok but for the price they can give me a damn bar of soap. Would not stay again. The only positive is they were relaxed about refunding and very nice at the front desk.

There are Silka Hotels all over Hong Kong, so this is not the only one. Their reputation is not bad, you can at least look forward to a good stay. It is a nicely renovated hotel, everything IS on the petite side tho lol. The singles bed is relatively small. It is the perfect size for a 5" tall girl like myself but I am not sure about those who are much taller than me. The washroom is kept clean daily by housekeeping. The housekeeping staff are friendly and courteous. I also noticed that the hotel collaborated with China bus tour companies for accommodations, so the place is usually flooded with tourists bright and early in the morning and late at night. There are only 2 elevators, so you can imagine the wait time lol. I think I'd rather walk the stairs lol. We paid everything online, but when you check in, they do ask for a refundable $500. They will refund it back to you when you check out of the hotel on the last day. Overall 3.5 stars. Not bad for a 2 night stay. The hotel is conveniently located just steps away from many restaurants, convenient stores, and bus stops.

Was kind of sad the pool was closed despite the weather being a consistent 30 Celsius plus but I get that that they need to close it for the winter season.
