Was lucky enough to tour this school, and find out what they have to offer a gifted child. It is a…read morevery small private school that does charge a tuition, but there is really nothing like it that I've seen. Having been around gifted children, I've seen how difficult traditional schools can be for them and that sometimes they are not being challenged, but here they cater to exactly what the child needs. The school has a very open floor plan that allows the teachers to have a bit more freedom to teach each child how they need and want to learn. The school itself is very clean and tidy, with plenty of books, some instruments, and technology for the students. A new head of school seems excited and eager to bring her years of experience and knowledge to the school and community. Excited to see what this new school year brings for the school!

The STREAM program is exceptional! Each afternoon the students become fully engaged in learning across subject areas with authentic peers who spark each other's imagination as they collaborate on problem solving, and hands on learning applications that lead beyond mastery of a concept to innovation! Not a positive application process. Be prepared to be stringed along about your childs…read moreapplication. The lack of communication and response to questions about your childs status is deplorable. The conditions of the dorms are unmaintained, dingy and ramshackled. After you fill out the application (excessive) you need to wait until a week before school starts to see if your child made the list, leaving parents and kids in a fog as to where they stand. How the director of Admissions hasn't been fired is beyond me. The admissions process lacks organization and is in total chaos. We were excited about introducing our child to an independent atmosphere, however after experiencing the "shadow day" and disorganized process we decided this wasn't a great fit. There are separate living facility for transgender students, which seems to be the trend on this campus. Due to lack of structure, deceiving parents by giving false hope we declined this opportunity. The tennis courts are not operable and IMSA lacks sports. Volunteer hours are excessive and your child will be be on a self-directed learning curve (minimal involvenment of teachers). The positive, they had a nice salad bar.

All of his teachers both past and present take great care of him and communicate to us on a daily basis about the goods/bads/advancements/issues with him. Linda (Educational Director) and Paul (Owner) are very approachable and take an honest interest in all of the student's development and success. As an only child, he enhances his socialization skills and this is important for us to see. We are anxious to see what this year brings!

Add us to that list. There really was no comparison with other options in the area after meeting with Paul (owner) and Linda (previous director) and a few of the teachers. No fluffy pretense, just straightforward and positive attitudes across the board. Effective leadership + excellent teachers = outstanding program. Despite all this, we were nervous our first few weeks as we were leaving our nearly 2-year-old son with strangers for the first time. We called on the first day and Paul (owner) answered the phone and put us at ease. He offered to walk down and take a look for us, and said that our son was playing - laughing, even. He said to call whenever we were concerned. We did, and each time our boy was either having fun or napping. (Incredible!) Once, getting the feeling that maybe Paul was exaggerating a little to make us feel better, I came early to pick up our boy. It was no exaggeration - he was having a ball. It's lasted three years - he was excited to see his friends and teachers when I dropped him off just this morning. Bottom line - we strongly recommend The Goddard School in North Aurora and have nothing but praise for them.
