We have repeatedly encountered unprofessional behavior, including being spoken to in a condescending manner, interrupted, and even yelled at over the phone--making it nearly impossible to voice concerns or ask questions. Additionally, there have been ongoing issues with insurance billing. Despite confirming coverage and accurate information with both of our insurance providers, the office has continued to submit claims incorrectly. When we've tried to bring this to their attention, instead of resolving the matter calmly, we've received harassing and aggressive phone calls--sometimes while caring for our 2.5-month-old baby at home. Most concerning is the unwillingness of the staff to allow communication with a manager or the dentist when we requested help. Threatening to send a patient to collections while refusing to acknowledge or correct their own billing errors is unacceptable. Because of the repeated mistreatment and lack of professionalism, we will not be returning to this office. Patients deserve to be treated with respect and to have billing concerns addressed, not ignored or escalated through hostile interactions.

I went to the front desk multiple times asking for updates, and each time staff would go into the back and come back with nothing. Eventually, the anesthesiologist himself had to come out and told me not to worry, to leave and drive around for another hour, and to not eat or drink. That was ridiculous. I walked out. While driving home, I spoke with Nicole, who verbally promised there would be zero issues going forward. We agreed I would be the first patient on the 18th, that I would arrive five minutes early, and that if I wasn't taken back within ten minutes, I would walk out. Second appointment: I showed up on the 18th expecting to move forward as agreed, only to be told my appointment had been automatically rescheduled to December 23rd without my knowledge. Nicole did call, but from a different number than the office, which my phone flagged as spam. The new date is the day before Christmas Eve, which I'm not available for and forced me to cancel plans. So much for "zero issues." At this point, I still haven't received treatment, and this will be my third time walking into this office. I'm only continuing because I'll lose my deposit if I don't. I accompanied my mother to her appointment, where she was diagnosed with needing four-quadrant scaling and root planing (deep cleaning) and was billed for treatment of all four quadrants. The entire appointment lasted approximately 30 minutes. As a dental hygienist myself, I was concerned enough to have my mother evaluated again on September 2. At that appointment, I observed significant remaining calculus, including calculus on the right side that had not been adequately addressed. I subsequently had to provide additional periodontal treatment, including re-treatment of the right side and completion of the left side. I am currently requesting that Smile Obsession's higher-level management/clinical leadership review my mother's records and treatment and address our concerns regarding the care that was provided and the charges incurred. Staff was unable to provide any assistance on the matter as it now has to go to the people whom are actually in charge. I am posting this because I believe patients should be able to make informed decisions about their dental care and should feel confident that the treatment they are paying for is being thoroughly provided and documented. I hope the company takes this concern seriously and provides an appropriate resolution.
