I am deeply saddened and hurt to share that I was asked to leave Hilltop Assembly of God in Boyd,…read moreTexas, due to a crime I committed 10 years ago. It was particularly distressing when Pastor Ken Harris told me to "get the hell out" and tried to blame the decision on church policy. This experience has been incredibly painful, especially since I have attended this church multiple times over the last 10 years and grew up here. This response seems to contradict the principles of forgiveness and redemption that are central to our faith. The Bible teaches us about the power of forgiveness and the importance of welcoming those who seek a new path. In Ephesians 4:32, it says, "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." We are all sinners, and it is through grace and compassion that we find our way back to righteousness. In Matthew 18:21-22, Peter asks Jesus, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?" Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times." This teaches us that forgiveness is not a one-time act but a continuous process. To Pastor Ken Harris and the leadership at Hilltop Assembly of God, I urge you to reconsider this decision and the manner in which it was communicated. Let us embody the teachings of Christ and extend a hand of grace and acceptance to those who are trying to rebuild their lives. Let us be a beacon of hope and love, as Jesus intended. Please join me in praying for understanding and compassion in this situation. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that our churches are places of refuge and redemption for all. #Forgiveness #Compassion #Redemption #ChristianFaith Update: July 29, 2024 4:15pm Today, Monday, July 29th 2024, I received a phone call from the Wise County Sheriff's Department informing me that if I set foot on the property again, I would be arrested for trespassing. The word Christian means to be "Christ-like." While I understand that Pastor Ken Harris is human and falls to human nature, as a pastor, he is held to higher standards in society. The way this situation has been handled by Pastor Ken is extremely uncalled for. I wanted to go to church to praise the Lord, but now, because I told people about how he kicked me out, I will be arrested if I ever go back there. To Pastor Ken Harris and the leadership at Hilltop Assembly of God, I again urge you to reconsider this decision and the manner in which it was communicated. Let us embody the teachings of Christ and extend a hand of grace and acceptance to those who are trying to rebuild their lives. Let us be a beacon of hope and love, as Jesus intended. Yall, please join me in continuing to pray for understanding and compassion in this situation. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that our churches are places of refuge and redemption for all.
