We stayed in Kufstein for a weekend of skiing at the nearby resorts, and when looking for a place to eat, this stood out as the most popular by far on Yelp. It's worth noting that there are two different entrances, on the left is the restaurant, and on the right is the bar Stollen 1930, both operated by the same owner.
The restaurant is located on the famous Römerhofgasse, which has the feel of a medieval town with its narrow passage and old buildings. The restaurant carries this theme through to the interior, with a confusing series of small rooms and passages on different levels, which in the end adds to the Gemütlichkeit (coziness) of the whole situation.
Unfortunately, my friend and I showed up for dinner not terribly hungry, which is a pity because the menu looks pretty amazing. We ended up sharing the "Tyrolean tapas", which was a series of spreads and hams (okay, but not amazing), then a churrasco platter and a large salad. The churrasco platter included beef, sausage, chicken, and pork all on a long skewer, along with some vegetables and a side of french fries. It was tasty, but not exceptional. For dessert we ordered the Kaiserschmarren, which are fried pancakes with raisins and sugar, and were some of the best we've had in the area. Highly recommended.
They have a nice wine list, and the prices are reasonable. The service was very friendly and attentive. Next time I'll just have to show up with more of an appetite. read more
