Also, I haven't really run into people that are averse to transwomen in the past couple years transitioning, but I know we (trans women) can feel nervous when seeking someone new and not being sure if things will go smoothly because of our gender stuff. Happy to say say that it wasn't even a thing; I just said my pronouns and after that didn't feel like anything else was different than if I hadn't said anything in the first place, which is my ideal scenario when it comes to inclusivity. A++

LOVE! I saw a Groupon for a Dermaplane treatment with Elena. Her studio is located in a side…read morebuilding off of Mill Street so you just have to keep a keen eye out for the door or else you might go past it. When you walk in you see her display of makeup products and some little water bottles. It's a super cute place! Before we started, she had me fill out paperwork about any medical history, my skin care routine, and what I would like to achieve with the service. I've never done dermaplaning, but Elena walked me through each step and made me feel comfortable. First, she cleanses your skin. Then she goes through with the Dermaplaning which is scalping off the top layer of dead skin to help regenerate a new layer. You can't make sudden movements since she is using a scalpel, but I found it relaxing! Elena has so much knowledge about skin and told me I have very dry skin. She talked about what products would be helpful in aiding my dry skin and gave me a huge reminder to use sunscreen. Will be adding that and the hyaluronic acid serum to my skincare routine. After that she cleanses my face again and put a hot towel over my face to help open up the pores. She used a machine (I forgot what it's called), but it looks like a spatula and vibrates to help push out black heads and other gunk in my face. She even pushed out a stubborn blackhead for me after and popped a little zit I had near my forehead. This part hurt the worst! She also did a little peel treatment for me. I just couldn't remember if it was before or after the blackheads part. She then cleanses my face again, put a sample of the hyaluronic acid and moisturizes my face. I am not going to lie my face was a little red and I had red scraped spots from where she pulled out blackheads and my face was not looking pretty!!! Luckily you can wear makeup and go about your normal routine 30 min-an hour after the treatment. Later that night my skin peeled a little bit by my chin which was fine! Nothing too crazy. She even gave me a couple samples to take home. This is the second day after my treatment and I must say, any acne scars and red spots have faded a lot just from treatment! My skin looks more clear from the previous discoloration I've had. Thank you so much Elena and I will most definitely be back.

Our experience was okay- not bad but we weren't wowed by any means. The location was nice and cute going for a quaint spa vibe. There's some light snacks, water, coffee, and tea. It wasn't brought to our attention that there were showers, sandals, or additional post service accouterment like razors, combs, lotion, hair ties, dry shampoo, etc. It would have been nice to know ahead of time so we could come prepared. We were told about the robes available to use so that was nice. I've never had a maternity massage so I can't compare it but it was nice. Took a little trial and error to get comfortable. They offer a bolster to allow you to lie on your stomach. I think perhaps it's better suited for someone not so far along, or just with different anatomy. The hole for my stomach did not feel deep enough and I felt pressure on my belly which was uncomfortable. My masseuse was gracious to work with me to get comfortable on my side and had a bolster to lie on my back as well. The "scalp treatment" was pretty basic and left much to be desired. I think they put peppermint oil on their fingers and then push your hair around your head. It absolutely was not worth the time or price we paid. I kept my opinions to myself as I tend to be a tougher critic than my husband but as we left he mentioned his thoughts on the "scalp treatment"- his words were I could have done without that- the hair dresser does a better job- I agree. We usually go to Panacea Spa but they were booked so a friend suggested Woodhouse Spa. It's really difficult to compare the two as Panacea is a true luxury experience albeit with a price tag to match. With our scalp add ons we paid almost the same as we would have at Panacea and by no means was it a paralleled experience. We might consider trying a basic massage service again but certainly not our first pick here in Columbus. Not bad just not amazing.

I chose the prescription facial to get professional recommendations tailored to my skin's needs. I made it clear that my skin is sensitive and that I've had past issues with products triggering cystic acne on my chin. The esthetician was friendly, and the facial itself was very relaxing. Unfortunately, the products used caused my cystic acne to flare up, which was disappointing after spending over a year working to calm my skin. While the experience itself was pleasant, I wouldn't recommend getting a facial here for those with very sensitive or acne-prone skin.
