Such a fun brewery/gastropub in St Paul! You have to love…read morethe space. It's an old firehouse and the patio in the nice weather months is fire. Parking can be tricky; there's not really a lot here, so you have to get lucky with the street. Staff are great here. They are always fun to chat with and will make recommendations if you need them. On our most recent venture here, I tried the spaetzle. Hubs had a burger and got the beer cheese soup. I had a bite of the soup and it was so good. The spaetzle was a little plain, but so tasty. You gotta try a beer here too. I had the hefeweizen, which I loved. Definitely stop in the summer and enjoy the patio if you have the opportunity.

While I can appreciate the effort and the atmosphere, the food just did not quite hit the mark for me personally. The dishes felt more American influenced than traditionally German, and overall they lacked some of the authenticity and flavors I associate with Bavarian and Franconian cuisine. Unfortunately, we did not really enjoy the food as much as we had hoped. That said, the history and character of the building were genuinely impressive. The restoration work and historic atmosphere were easily the highlight of the visit and made the experience worthwhile from that perspective. I think people looking for a local interpretation of German inspired food may enjoy it more than someone expecting a more traditional experience.

Skip the drive throughs and hit up a solid choice at @newbohemia we kept is local in St. Paul, but they do have another location in Golden Valley. Something about their @surlybrewing Beer Brat just tastes like being a Minnesotan. Great staff who were helpful and engaging to talk menu choices with. Pro tip: ALWAYS ask your server/ bartender/ barista etc. what they love on the menu. If anyone knows what's the omg thing is it's them. I absolutely love when someone is passionate about the food they are selling at any establishment. If you've been in the industry you'll recognize that sparkle when someone tells you about the have to get thing is their face does this. My delish items that if you're here do yourself a favor and get em are: Surely Beer Brat Truffle Fries (it's a little extra, but does not disappoint) Honey Mustard dipping sauce (homemade, legit) Don't snooze on the table sauces. It's a flavor experience. Spicy Saison Honorable mentions were their homemade ranch and jalapeño aioli and the Juicy Lucy brat for a classic cheese brat vibe. Looking at the picture we knew we had to give it try. What cool comfortable place with lots of history behind the building. The owner served us lunch and provided a history behind the restaurant, the recipes and where they get their food products. Their bread is local and their meat is from Usinger's in Milwaukee, WI. I love that place and their products. Well let's get onto the food. I was brave and had the Smoked Liverwurst. Hadn't had it for 30 years. Since I went fishing with my grandfather. Boy it was awesome and brought back some memories. The owner gave me large slices of bread so I could make a sandwich. The mustard and fresh onions made it! My two colleagues were craving hot dogs, so they went with the Yoerg Sandwich. It's the flagship sandwich. A quartier pound dog with German cheese and a pickle spear. It was huge and tasty to say the least. It was only $9.95. Great price for lunch these days. We also had to share a pretzel that came with cheese and mustard. This has earned a spot on our lunch rotation.

Everything was seamless and professional, organized and helpful. From my very first conversations with the event staff, I was never told "no". They were able to accommodate our needs, timing, food, additional vendor and the event went off without a hitch. We especially enjoyed the roped off area outdoors as we got a perfect weather day for our event. Drink selection was fantastic, appetizers were good, buffet dinner was fabulous, and the staff was top tier. Special shout out to Bri who was incredibly attentive, available and communicative throughout our event. Thank you, thank you. Would recommend over and over.

My only gripe is that it is a very big place and there was lots of walking all over to get beer, pizza, or make a bathroom run with a toddler, only to have to make the trip again with another toddler.

The space itself is incredibly clean, beautifully decorated, and has such a welcoming ambiance that makes you want to sit and stay awhile.
