They were all relatively well kept, though there were multiple bottle caps at the bottom that we kept stepping on. The ones that were there the night before were still there the morning after. The pool staff were really nice. They had already run out of towels at the counters, and the guy went to get us some freshly cleaned ones from the utility room. Much appreciated. The rooms were very nice. We stayed in the king suite, very well laid out. Only complaint is they had a steamer and not an iron. Doesn't work the same, but oh well. The decor was nice, the bed was comfortable, the AC was rocking. Really enjoyed the room. Whomever stayed there previously not only changed the time on the clock, but set an alarm at an ungodly hour. Well played. The casino is a bit smaller than Golden Nugget across the street. The lower ceilings give it a smaller, cozier feel. No luck on the slots here, but we did get into some blackjack. Under the tutelage of Justin T. I now have a new favorite card game. I had previously stayed away from the tables. By the time we checked in all the restaurants had closed, so we didn't get to try any of the food here. The wait staff in the casino were not very attentive and did not return with our drinks. When we found the guy later in the same spot that we ordered in, he said he had been back and that we had left even though we hadn't moved since we had been there. Always fun catching the BS. So well I can rate the lack of service, I can't rate the quality of the drinks because I didn't have one. Maybe next time. Parking here is easy, there's a huge lot outside. They also have garage parking, which I prefer. Have your car out of the elements. Overall really good stay, would definitely come again.

The two hostesses weren't friendly at all. One of them literally looked me up and down like I didn't belong there. Jason, our server, was warm and chatty with other tables, but with us it felt like he was just going through the motions. The food was not how it was, and the service made the whole visit uncomfortable. On the hotel side, the room itself was good. Super clean, comfy king bed, and they left four bottles of water which I appreciated. But dang... the towels were so rough. Also stay away from the rooms on the fuel island side , unless you like hearing trucks pull in all throughout the night. Come to think of it the other side isn't that quiet either , when the train comes through . Now the restaurant, it'll get you by in a pinch. I just got back to Houston after spending three wonderful nights here. I got the Suite Française…read morefor $100 a night. Room was immaculate and well and tastefully furnished. The water pressure in the shower was prefect and there was plenty of very hot water. Towels and sheets were fluffy and soft and I slept great on the comfy mattress. Another huge plus, especially if you visit Orange in the summer, is the upstairs was nicely cooled; I never felt warm inside for a second. There is wifi, but I only really used it to download a new book to my Kindle. There's also a TV in the room with Direct TV, but I never turned it on, instead preferring the serenity of this quiet, historical neighborhood to cast the perfect reading environment. I'm a light eater, so Gina, the innkeeper, provided me with fresh fruit salad each morning with toast or bagels. Parking is off-street and around back, so you never have to worry about your car. The is an expansive backyard with huge old trees. I preferred the front porch to watch for the occasional passing freight train which runs down the block. (There is a quiet zone in Orange now, so there is virtually no noise from the passing freights.)

Located right next to the I-10 off-ramp on exit 43, this small park is pretty easy to spot. From…read morethe interstate, you have to make a hard right turn into the Shell station parking lot. Stay to right and you'll see the gate and park office. Check-in was easy. They take Good Sam but even with the discount, we still paid $46 for our overnight site. According to their price list (which you get at check-in) we should've only paid $40.45 plus tax so I'm guessing the rest of it was exorbitant tax. If you need a key card to go in and out of the gate, you pay a little extra. Sites in the middle are pull-thru, the perimeter has back-ins. The park has mostly longterm and permanent residents but it doesn't have a trailer park feel. Everyone kept their sites neat with minimum "stuff" sitting outside. The transient sites are in the first row of pull-thrus and they were full the night we were there. If your rig has good sound insulation, then the 24/7 traffic noise won't bother you much. Internal roads and sites are all paved with grass between sites. Sites are level with hookups in the middle. They have a dog wash station which is outside next to the exit gate. There's no dog park, no pool, no playground (so not really family friendly). Wifi and cable worked fine. The park seems well-managed. There's a laundry room that's also open to the public but the park itself is gated. You can walk to several places around there to eat. It's right behind a McDonald's and a convenience store. Good for an overnight stop.
