I find something on the app, it says "available" but rather than order pick up, I go to the store. Two guys are there doing nothing, no other customer in sight, I show them the item on my phone and they just say "Aisle 7." I go there thinking--this ain't Florida--and when I get to Aisle 7, the stuff is not there, there is no empty bin for that, there is something similar, more expensive, and I don't want it because I already started my project with the other stuff. I go back to the apathic guys, show them the app again, and they give some bull. Just close down that store. Lowes is 2 miles from it on Venture Drive.

Town and Country Hardware switched suppliers in 2004, leaving Ace and replaced Ace with another company and in 2011, Town and Country Hardware closed permanently. I miss the old Town & Country Hardware Store, Town & Country Hardware 2as the original Salem Ace Hardware. Till August of 2017, they were no hardware stores in Salem. I have heard earlier this year, like in the Spring that the hardware store is coming back to Salem, WV. I found out that the store was going to be Ace, which made me more happy. Ace Hardware in Bridgeport, WV closed in the Summer of 2014. So for a short while, they were no Ace Hardware stores anywhere in Harrison County, WV. In 2016, Ace Hardware returned to Harrison County, WV, in Shinnston and made another return in 2017, in Salem. Now there is 2 Ace Hardware stores in Harrison County. I live in Salem and The Ace Hardware of Salem is a real helpful place and close to my home. Though the store address is ACTUALLY 210 Liberty St. Salem, WV 26426, NOT 298 Liberty St. Salem, WV 26426. Just remember, Ace is the place and Ace, the helpful place. True Value sucks and Ace is better. Just kidding, I have nothing against True Value Hardware, and they are a good store, I just like Ace Hardware name better. Update of February 2018: if you need your outdoor power equipment repaired, Ace Hardware of Salem is now doing small engine repairs. Update of January 2019: Ace Hardware of Salem is now your local STIHL dealer. If you plan to purchase a brand new STIHL handheld outdoor power equipment, Salem Ace Hardware has the full lime. For Stihl parts and accessories, Salem Ace Hardware has the complete line of parts and accessories for your Stihl outdoor power equipment. I went anyway because I wanted to support a local store. I wanted to buy porch railing and was told they would have to call for a price and would call me. After 1 1/2 weeks with no call, I called them. The sales person I was working with was out to lunch. I wasn't Loud and I didn't cuss I just told them that I was new to the area and was told not to shop there but I really wanted to shop locally. The person I was talking to said he would have my salesperson call when they returned from lunch. The General Manager called me back and said that they didn't want to deal with me because of the way I treated his salesperson. I told the mgr that I wasn't rude and I just stated what my friends had told me about Busy Beaver. The manager said he believed his salesman over me and hung up on me. I'm retired but worked in retail for over 40 years and was shocked at the way the mgr would treat a customer.

I asked one of the gentleman employees about the buggy and he informed me that it was up to the manager's discretion about what would happen with the plants. The employee was nice enough to contact the manager and she said I was welcome to sort through the flats and purchase a flat for $5.00each. I verified that I could mix and match the flats. After spending somewhere between 30 - 45 minutes sorting through the entire buggy of approximately 20 flats I proceeded to re-enter the store to finalize the purchase. The clerk, named Jodi, started going through the plants saying this one should not have been in the buggy, and that one should not have been in the buggy. I stated that they were in the buggy and that there was more of that particular plant on the bottom, that I definitely did not put any in the buggy that were not already in the buggy. She then started looking at the other flats and stating that there were other plants that shouldn't have been in the buggy. At this point I said "thank you" and left your store. I then called back to the store and asked to speak to the manager regarding the situation and was informed by Jodi that the manager had left for the day, but would be back tomorrow. Further conversation ensued where she explained that she was going to "let" me have the plants at the agreed price. Well if that was the case, then why treat me as I had put flowers in my flats that weren't part of the reduced buggy? I will never return to your store and will ensure anyone I know who shops at your store hears about your customer treatment.

And biggest thing that struck me is that it did not smell like a musty resale or consignment store. It is huge, and it's pretty easy to get lost in it. But it has all these little sections and "rooms" that people can rent to consign or sell their wears. There are people who are selling "flea market" style, and there are artists who are using it as a small store style...crafts, and painting, photography, wood working, jewelry...some pretty awesome stuff. They also have a local artist who does painting classes out of the studio, and right when you first walk in a whole rack of books written by local authors. We picked up a kids book about a bunny that immigrates from Italy to Clarksburg...which I thought would be good for my boys as it mirrors their ancestors history. We also found some records, and an old WV license plate.

Music Center, in Bridgeport, WV is my favorite music store in the area. They have a very nice…read morecollection of electric guitars -- especially Ibanez and LTD. They also have a good selection of acoustic guitars. There were also other instruments such as mandolins, resonators, banjos, and percussion. Music Center has some really nice amps, including Marshall, Mesa Engineering, Blackstar, Vox, and Laney. As expected, they have all kinds accessories, as well as some that you may not expect, such as vacuum tubes. The staff at Music Center is very friendly, and while they are helpful and show you features, they don't try to aggressively hard sell you. When I am evaluating a guitar or amp, it is a process that takes a long time and a lot of concentration, so I appreciate this. I am also very surprised by the prices at Guitar Center. Their prices are about the same as online shops, such as Musician's Friend, Guitar Center, and Sweetwater, and they will usually come down a little, to do better than buying on the internet. While you may be able to wait for a coupon, or talk the online guys down a little lower, I would rather support a local business than send my money to some giant, faceless corporation. I also like to try out instruments before I buy them. Sure, it may be nice to try something out in the store and order it off the internet, if you can get a better price. Especially with instruments, though, no two are alike. The way the wood resonates, the way the nut is cut, and most importantly the fretwork can vary greatly from instrument to instrument. Plus, I really don't want to have to drive to Pittsburgh, DC, or Columbus to try out music gear if all of the local brick and mortar stores get run out of business

I was surprised at how beautiful it looked and really appreciate her taking time to send me a picture of it before they delivered it. My mother absolutely loved it and said it looks lovely.
