There is a great pub quiz held here weekly which is very popular so get there early to get a seat. I love the beer garden here which I didnt know existed until this year! To give me credit you have to go through the door to the mens toilets to get to it (dont worry there is a separate door then leading to the loo!) but the garden is quite enclosed and has plenty of shade for people like me who are so pale they are almost see through! Its also handy if it rains and you cant get a table back inside. The Salmon also has a small function suite upstairs which is good for more low key events like anniversary parties. There is also a lovely lunch menu here which I would definately recommend. HOWEVER I cant give the Salmon anymore than a 3star because although there is nothing wrong with the place, there isnt much sparkle to it either. Definately worth a visit though.

Although this has improved a lot, this pub can still be a bit grotty up the back. The drink prices in here dont really match the pub as they are a bit expensive. Its also an island bar in the middle of the room which I usually quite like, but I feel as though it takes ages to be served in the Harrow. On the up side you can have a good time here. They always have the TV or some music on and the punters are generally a good crowd. The Harrow also serves food but I have never tried this. The clientele is varied; during the day you will find older couples and families with children in for meals. At night and during weekends there are more young people and party goers. However these groups of people all mix well and there is a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The food menu is good and the fajitas and enchiladas are especially good. There is also an extensive pizza menu and a dessert cabinet where you can pick from lots of fresh cakes. The bar has gone through several refurbishments in the last few years which they obviously didnt like and has now settled for couches at the front with some basic tables and chairs, while to the back you will find booth seats and high tables. This is fine if you are in for a drink, but it can be quite awkward eating dinner at the high tables. You will also find that people queue at the bar here which is a phenomenon I have never seen anywhere else in the world! Hunters Hall is a good place for a quick or cheap meal and the perfect start to a night out in Galashiels. There is a huge mix of different people in here and this is one of the few Wetherspoons which plays music. You can also catch big matches here as well.
