At my appointment, my mouth was fully numbed before I really understood what we were even working on. So I was sitting there completely face-blind, tongue-floaty, and legally incapable of pronouncing my own concerns, when I was informed I needed a crown instead of a filling. What stood out most was the speed of the whole process. Things moved quickly in a way that made me feel like I was emotionally buffering while the dental plan had already loaded. When I said I wasn't ready to move forward due to the out-of-pocket cost, I expected at least a conversation. Instead, the dentist exited to never return, and the discussion was graciously handed off to a dental assistant who, I am sure, had no clue why she was left if the responsibility to explain things beyond her scope of expertise. To this day, I still think about that level of numbness, both physical and conversational. Separately, I've also had a crown from a different visit at this office that has since cracked, which didn't exactly help my confidence in the long-term durability situation. 4 years later, I'm finding myself laying out of pocket for a whole new crown. Overall, I think dental care works best when patients feel informed, included, and slightly less like they've been medically muted before making financial decisions. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. Zero out of ten, do not recommend.

Well last night I flossed like I always do and the filling came out. Now that side of my mouth hurts and I tell that to the receptionist and she said he won't be available til Monday. I ask will it be covered and she said since they have to do it over I would have to pay again. I explained to her about the sensitivity, and how I have other fillings from other dentist & it never fell, this isn't on me so why would I have to pay again. She cut me off saying she can't help me & she has to ask the doctor. I asked her , her name and she hung up on me. I called again and she answered and hung up.

I am obsessed with dental care and teeth and my daughter needed an emergency visit. Two of her top teeth have small milk spots on them because I nursed her for a little longer than what people normally nurse for. Also upon brushing her teeth, I discovered that she had a small cavity near in the top corner of a front tooth that is crooked from when she fell walking as a toddler. I was freaking out, seriously, dreaming...obsessing. Researching online told me she got it from nighttime nursing. I felt horrible!! I thought I was doing the best for her by giving breast milk, when in fact, it had hurt her by giving her a cavity. It was ridiculous. I was obsessed. Before returning to Dr. Susan, we went to a local pediatric dentist who advised me to not fill the cavity, because her tooth is going to just fall out anyway. I was very confused because she would be in pain eventually and it would leave that tooth susceptible to an even bigger cavity and food would continue to get stuck in there. It was confusing to me and made no sense. Uptown Pediatric Dentistry took us back, on a day when they normally don't see patients. Dr. Susan examined my daughter and said that she was not surprised she got a cavity there. Her tooth is crooked from when she fell as a baby and that I would've had to brush and floss her teeth after every thing she ate for food to not get there. She made me feel better and assured me that nursing did not play a big role in the cavity. She gave me options and suggestions and fit us in to have the cavity filled the same day. We left to go get some food (because my daughter was not going to be able to eat later). The hygienist and Dr. Susan made my daughter feel at ease and even pretended to take care of her baby doll (my daughter carry's her baby doll EVERYWHERE). The overall procedure was quick and through. My daughter did really good during the procedure but started to cry at the end cause of how she had to tilt her head up and her mouth was propped open for a long time. Dr. Susan continued to reassure us during the procedure and wanted to make sure she got all the "sugar bugs" out because it had started to affect the tooth next to it (my daughters teeth are really close together and it's a challenge to floss). I'm just thankful that everything went ok and it's over. It's been a month since the procedure and my daughter hasn't had any issues. We lucked up and are so grateful for Uptown Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Holmes would be proud. Thank you Uptown Pediatric Dentistry, you've earned us back.

The office is located a couple blocks down from Touro Infirmary, inside one of the surrounding medical buildings, that sorta looks unpleasing to the eye. The lobby is drab, no security, no personnel, just a glass that with Doctors names and their room numbers. When you get onto the 3rd Floor, its sorta lifeless, but once you enter Dr. Holmes office, you definitely remember where you are. Video games, flat screen television, cartoons, puzzles, books...definitely gives off the illusion that they are their to play, and not what awaits them in the back room. Although, the backroom is even better than the waiting room, if you ask me. However, my kid was not amused by the idea of having to lay flat on the dentist table, even with the flat screen television right above. It was as if that tv didn't even exist. Perhaps an uneasy feeling for a toddler, better for the well adjusted adolescent. I grew up with the dentist chair, and it's still my preference. His staff is friendly, and he doesn't waste too much time - in and out. At this stage we don't really have too many things going on in my kids mouths, so naturally our visits are 15 mins a child.

When I brought her back, I was initially told nothing was wrong and to just give Tylenol. X-rays were taken at her next appointment but I never received follow-up results. Once the pain worsened I brung her back and It was only after I requested records that they acknowledged a filling was very close to the nerve and she now needed a root canal at first they try and say it was a gum issue dispite any swelling r redness r inflammation to the gum and told me to just keep giving her Tylenol and that the pain will worsen before getting better. WOW! The referral process was also frustrating. I was referred to one provider who does not have staff in the office this week to perform work. Then I requested another referral where they referred me to a provider who doesn't even perform root canals, and when I questioned it, I was told ( these are the referrals we have) and after the last referral they had if they ddnt do it that I would have to find a provider on my own then. WOW! There was also inconsistent communication, including attempts to suggest poor hygiene as the cause even after identifying the real issue. I fill like instead of them taking fault they are trying to finds ways to place blame on me and the way they are responding doesn't makes me feel like they really care about what my child is going through and giving me the run around just to get it out of their hands. That's my thoughts. Overall, there was a lack of follow-up, poor coordination of care, and my child remained in pain throughout the process. I hope they improve how they handle patient care and communication moving forward.

I was referred to Hamada Orthodontics through my former dental office hygienist. I had worn braces previously unfortunately the braces created an overbite which made my teeth protruded. I was very unhappy with my teeth. On my first visit, the staff was all hands on deck. I was greeted by at least 3 staff members upon my arrival. I was given a tour of the office and offered to brush my teeth at the brushing station prior to see the doctor. The office is nice and comfy. The office decor includes large wall inspirational and motivational quotes. The colors are warm and welcoming (warm green, turquoise and almond). I had a full photo shoot of my teeth as a part of my visit in addition to the Xrays. Dr Allison was very concerned as to what made me unhappy about my teeth. She asked me if I could change anything what would it be? For me it was definitely the bucktoothed. She made it happened in less than 1 year with a new braces appliance. I'm so pleased with the end results. The staff was there and available from the beginning until the end of my appointment. Dr Allison and her team is definitely the top contender in customer service and the customer experience.

Terrible experience - would not recommend for children or sensitive patients…read more I had an extremely disappointing and distressing experience at Hamada Orthodontics in Luling, Louisiana. I was never informed that the clinic is only open four days a month when I signed up for services. Even worse, out of six appointments, the orthodontist herself was only present at two. I've never been to a dental office where the doctor doesn't examine or even check in with the patient--that alone was alarming. The most upsetting moment came when my child was in visible pain during an appointment. Instead of offering compassion, Dr. Hamada threw her tools down at a neighboring patient's chair, pulled me aside, and asked if my child had special needs--simply because she was whimpering in pain. It was clear her concern was less about my child's comfort and more about keeping up appearances in her all you can treat open-layout office. Rather than adapting care to suit my child's needs, I was told that future visits would need to happen early in the morning--so my child wouldn't "disrupt" others--causing her to miss school instead of attending after hours like other patients. Another issue is that she placed the brace brackets so high on my daughter's teeth, my daughter couldn't properly brush because she could not fit the toothbrush in between the gum line and the brackets. Our new orthodontist had to remove the brackets and placed them where they should have been placed in the beginning, in turn, costing us much more money. At our final visit, Dr. Hamada didn't even come out of her office. When I later received a voicemail asking "what the problem was," it was dismissive and unprofessional. I responded in writing, but she acted completely unaware of why I would be upset--despite the very clear reasons. Dental trauma is real, and thanks to this clinic's poor communication, lack of supervision, and cold bedside manner, I now have to help my child recover from an experience that never should have happened. I cannot in good conscience recommend Hamada Orthodontics to any parent or patient, especially those with children who may need a little extra care and compassion. This office does not provide it.

That level of communication builds trust, and it made a big difference for me. During the procedure, they were gentle, attentive, and constantly checking to make sure I was comfortable. I've had dental visits in the past that left me anxious, but this was completely different. It was genuinely one of the most comfortable dental experiences I've had. What really stands out is the professionalism and integrity of the practice. I never felt upsold or pushed into unnecessary treatments. Everything recommended made sense and was explained logically. They always have new things- advanced technology, partnerships for care, curtains, etc. She is always learning new things and expanding what care she can offer patients. Initially I went to her because I had a root canal that failed twice. She was the first one to say she thought the tooth was cracked, and she was right! I've had a complicated set of inherited problems and she has treated them. My sister (who lives across the country) also has similar issues and has struggled to find regular, specialized care. With Dr. Lacey we have done the same palette expansion. I've had regular visits, top of the line imaging, and gained 7mm of space. When I didn't need the follow up Invisiline (like my sister did have to have), she was honest with me, and that saved me thousands of dollars and years of treatment! Very grateful to have found her. The team is terrific- all the hygienists, dentists and office personnel have been professional and thorough. Now my extended family has started going to Southern Dental. Love these ladies!
