We have lived here for the past 7 months. In this time we have experienced multiple issues such as fungus growing from our bathroom, the washing machine drain hose was not properly seated causing it to leak water into our bed room and around most of the baseboard in the unit. The oven element exploded around the fourth time it was used. Lastly we just found out we have a termite colony in our wall. The work that was conducted to fix these issues were in my opinion, sub-par. First the fungus was simply cut off the wall. No inspection was done to see if there was more fungus growing inside the wall. Second the washing machine leak spread a lot of water throughout our apartment. The emergency line for our apartment did not answer us when we noticed the leak around midnight. We finally got ahold of them the next morning and they were able to get a water removal specialist out the next day but besides the water getting removed there was also no inspection for mold or other damage seeing as the water was there for 2 days. Next the oven element exploded while I was preheating the over, not something you ever expect from an apartment you just moved into. We were able to get it replaced about 3 days later with a new oven. And now the worst part; the termites. We noticed random small holes appearing in the wall immediately we called our emergency line and informed them of what we suspected. The first time we called the emergency operator told us that maintenance would be coming out, we waited for about 3 hours with no sign of maintenance anywhere to even help confirm that it was indeed termites. I called the emergency line again and immediately our property manager called us saying that maintenance would come to look at it 2 days later. On monday the maintenance came out and confirmed that it was termites. Our property manager called a pest control company, PrestoX, and they sent out one of their guys to look at the holes. The Pest control man looked at it and said that he had to call his termite specialist to deal with this, which I figured would have been the first step not the now third step. The termite specialist came out but said he had just been hired and did not have the knowledge or equipment to spray the inside, he could only spray outside. The next day I received a call from our property manager saying that the same company would be coming back out again that night. The termite specialist showed up and finally sprayed inside. Over the next couple of days we notice swarmers and other termites without wings crawling all over our bedroom. Keep in mind the drywall or structure has not been inspected AT ALL. I told my property manager that this was the case after they had been sprayed and they finally sent their maintenance team out to open up the drywall and replace it. Well they did cut out the section of drywall and found that one of the load bearing studs is completely eaten from the bottom up leaving it hanging. 3 more have been eaten but not completely destroyed. We also have a rotting baseboard with multiple holes in it. For 3 days at this point we cannot occupy our only bedroom since the hole is open allowing bugs free access to our room and the smell coming from the hole is no where near pleasant or what a home should smell like, more a kin to a graveyard or swamp. We are not occupying our apartment at all at this point due to the feeling of being unsafe and uncomfortable knowing that 4 load bearing studs on an external wall are unstable. I would recommend that people avoid this place if they dont want to deal with uncommunicative management and terrible maintenance response. read more
