I've been a loyal Best Buy customer for over 25 years and have purchased numerous laptops from them…read more-- including three in just the past two years for myself, my daughter, and my wife. I've always added the 2- or 3-year protection plans because they provided peace of mind, even if I rarely had to use them. During my last purchase at the Morehead City location, a staff member told me he was "upgrading" my protection plan to some sort of total protection package. I clearly stated I didn't care what it was called -- I just wanted two years of protection, like I always get. I even complimented Best Buy on their protection plans at the time. Fast forward 18 months: I experience a minor screen issue after some rubbing alcohol spilled on the top of the laptop, causing screen glare. I brought it in thinking the 2-year plan I paid $179.99 for would cover it -- only to be told my "warranty" had been canceled. Apparently, what I had wasn't a protection plan but a membership -- something I was never told clearly. That membership had expired, and they refused to honor the protection I believed I had paid for. When I questioned it, the staff seemed dismissive and evasive. It felt less like a misunderstanding and more like dishonesty. This experience left a bad taste in my mouth. After spending thousands of dollars with Best Buy, I expected better. The lack of transparency and accountability here borders on fraud, and the customer service at this location was appalling. Unless something changes, I don't see myself shopping at this Best Buy again -- or possibly any Best Buy.

That sounded fair to me. He got back with me right away with a proposed fix. The cost was reasonable and even better, David explained the problem to me in a way that even I could understand. This the worst store out there. Only about 15 to 20 minutes went by and I received an email and a phone from the store stated that I could pick it up at anytime. I proceeded to go yo the store before they closed and got there about 10 minutes before I tried to use the express puck up and it would not work. I went to my car to get my ID so I could go into the store and pick it up. As there was a lady leaving the store the door would not open and the assistant manger opened the door to let her out with the door still open i trued to explain that the express pick up was not working and if she could take a minute to help me get my phone out of there she stated that once her door is locked she can not open it but the door was open as she was speaking to me. I explained to her that my current phone would only work in safe mode and I have 3 24hr businesses to run and needed my new phone, she stated that she could not help me and shut the door in my face. I have numerous lines with Verizon and have been a loyal customer for over 15 years and was buying a new phone at cost as they stated that there was no promotion available fir the phone that I needed to run my business. I still went ahead and ordered the phone with a rep over the phine who was able to get the order put in with enough time as I needed to get it ASAP and could not wait for it to be shipped. This is the worst experience I have ever had with customer service and will never recommend going with Verizon or to shop at thus store. I hope that the owner of the store sees this with a reply so that they know what kind of people they have representing there business. I am a business owner and would never treat customers this way. If you are looking into getting Verizon service don't I will be looking for a different one myself. If they aloud a negative on a review there would not be a number bug enough that could justify this treatment. Also when you speak to customer service then are just as bad as the staff in the store is when they tell you to go to your local store and have them see if they can fix it and being told we were never have done repairs in this store so I dont know why they would tell you that but we could sell you phone and that was from the manager himself.

The big box store or internet giant music emporium has all the answer you're looking for. That is exactly the opposite of what I discovered in Guitar's Etc, in Havelock, NC. I have an old friend, a 90's era, Guild F4CE acoustic/electric six string, that I am quite fond of. We've gone through a lot of string changes over these many years and I am very careful when it comes to who fiddles with my guitar. Like all things man made, stuff wears out. This was the case for the Fishman Transducer. The original had failed years ago but I was lucky to find a new/old stock exact replacement. Not so this time. At Fishman suggestion, I located a new pickup but, being 71 years old, I didn't feel as comfortable doing the swap so I decided to ask Pete at Guitar's Etc. The first thing I noticed was theor business hours, Monday through Saturday, 10-6 (except Saturday, then it's 10-4). I found that very reassuring. On Monday morning, I showed Pete the problem and he simply replied, "no problem. Ready Wednesday or Thursday." Finally, the last question, "How much". I watched him doa bit of mental calculations and he replied, "$50 bucks." I'm sure I looked stunned for a minute, then calmly replied, "What year is it!" To my thinking, that was a bargain. Of course I needed new strings which they also had so, I gave him the go-ahead and left the guitar in his capable hands. That evening, around 6:00, I received a text telling me the job was finished and to come pick up my guitar. it's now Tuesday evening and I've just finished checking out Pete's work - perfect!! Nice tight fit with the action being exactly as it was. Nice job Pete, thanks. While I was there I checked the prices for new stuff and it's comparable to the big stores. There's a very good reason they've been around all these years. Dependable, steadfast, solid service. Do yourself a favor and drop by. Tell them JC sent you.

It was a cheap Epiphone, but he was just learning. I told him to take it here. They didn't tell him it was a cheap guitar, they fixed it and set it up for him. So I stopped in there today because I needed a new guitar cable. The owner was so helpful and we had a really good conversation about equipment and a future amp purchase. If you are looking for a local business with a proven track record and someone who will tell you the truth and not treat you like a new player this place is legit. I highly recommend.
