Wow. You know the shop is awesome when the big glass windows are chock full of shelves of oh-so-beckoning tchotchkes.
I don't know what this place has to do with auctions, but I don't care. Whatever you were looking for that day, you won't find it in this store, but you'll find some mind-boggling other things you'll want, such as a patriotic statuette of a firefighter in front of a US flag, with a placard that says, "America Hero's". No? How about incense and plastic Buddha statues? Getting closer? Perhaps Precious Moments stuff and an inflatable picture frame. Plastic frogs, Jesus, lawn decorations, or holiday stuff? No?
The absolute best stuff is in the dark room in the back, where you'll find those light-up glass pictures of beaches where it looks like the water's moving. We've all seen those, so maybe you want something a little different, perhaps something with fiber optic lights? Angels, birds, Jesus? Other light-up Christian iconography, or statues of saints you've never heard of? Perhaps you're more into the dark side, maybe you'd prefer black skulls and demons...well, they have those, too. Upside-down-cross lamp? Check. Dragons and skeletons? Check. Marijuana leaf-shaped little box to put your weed in? Check.
In one of the front corners of the store is an herbal medicine counter; there was only one person working in the shop, and I have no clue if she knew about any of this stuff. Some of it was for health, some of it was to help boners, there were teas and powders and pills.
AND, there are sale signs on some stuff, but even the stuff not obviously on sale gets marked down at the register, which I wish I'd known, because then maybe I really would've gotten my brother a big light-up thing. read more
