I had three older sewing machines that belonged to my late mother, and after years of neglect, they were in need of a lot of TLC. When I brought them into the shop, MaryLynn was wonderful to work with from the very beginning. She is incredibly knowledgeable and made the entire process easy and stress-free. The price I was quoted when I dropped them off was exactly what I paid when I picked them up, even though there were a couple small repairs we were not aware were needed. Not only did she help me better understand the machines I already have, but she never once pressured me to upgrade or purchase something new. Instead, she took the time to answer my questions, share her expertise. I've returned to the shop since then, and each visit has been the same positive experience. MaryLynn is always patient, helpful, and willing to share her knowledge. Whether you need sewing notions, machine repairs, or expert advice, I highly recommend her shop. Knowledgeable small-town businesses like this are becoming harder to find, and I'm so grateful to have discovered hers. I will continue to trust MaryLynn with all of my sewing needs and highly recommend her to anyone looking for quality service and genuine expertise. read more

I brought my old sewing machine in for repairs. Sadly, my machine was beyond repair So I decided to buy a new one. The owner took the time to get to know what my preferences were and matched me with the perfect machine. He took the time to go over how to use it. He is so kind and thorough. I completely trust him and purchased the machine. I highly recommend Auburn Sew and Vac. read more

I've been a customer here for about seven or so years - everytime I receive knowledgeable, fast service! I took my Dyson stick vac in today which was clogged and I had put the filter back in incorrectly - no problem, Alex fixed it on the spot and showed me how to avoid this from happening in the future. We're lucky to have such a high integrity, customer service driven business right here in Auburn. Thank you Alex and Auburn Sew & Vac! read more

I was in & out of the store in about 20 minutes at most. The owner is friendly and very helpful.

I went into Auburn, sewing and vacuuming, and I bought a machine after getting terrible service at Howell sewing machine in Auburn. I took my business to the other store on Palm Avenue. Alex was amazing. He taught me how everything works. He spend time with me and I bought a machine with him. Now is Mary whatever her name is would've spent time with me. I might've bought a machine with her but even her answer to my my question of why she was so rude to me her answer was I bought it online and I expected free advice that was her answer. She was so rude. Don't ever go into Howell sewing and vacuuming. Go to Alex at Auburn, sewing and vacuuming. He's the best he's gone, professional and amazing! read more

I stopped in Auburn Sew & Vac a couple days into the New Year as my cordless vacuum kept flashing the "filter" light at me. The store was busy when I arrived, but the gentleman working that day was friendly and worked very quickly. When it was my turn, he was quickly able to diagnose my problem, fixed my vacuum, and I was on my way. It's also worth mentioning that while I was there, he helped several people out to their cars, carrying their different machines, going above and beyond a just a simple repair. This is a business worth supporting - they truly care about their customers. read more

How great is it that we have an actual repair shop these days! Are we lucky here in Auburn or what? He's been doing this for over 50 years and knows every machine, how they work and how to fix them. Reasonably priced and very friendly. Nice people! read more

I hope I get the opportunity to refer everybody I know to this shop. They are so kind, so accommodating, so knowledgeable, and I think they undercharged. I don't know the last time I ran into somebody as sweet as Julie, and I'm happy my vacuum had an issue because I wouldn't have met her otherwise. read more

Ken K. Auburn I do not have a sewing machine, but I have a 30 year old Eureka vacuum cleaner that was not working properly. I took it in today to Auburn Sew & Vac. Alex was there. I explained to him what it was doing and he quickly determined what was wrong and then fixed the problem. It now works as it did when I purchased it. Alex is very personable and easy to deal with. Moreover, he fixed the problem for a very fair price. I initially went there because I had read the many reviews. My experience today was consistent with the very good reviews. This is now my "Go to Place" for my vacuum issues, repairs, and parts. Thank you, Alex. read more

Top notch service: I walked in with a busted vacuum cleaner that had a broken internal fan blade. Alex couldnt have been any nicer, and had it replaced and running like new in 10 minutes. He even threw in a couple parts I was missing. Great family operation, made me feel like my business was appreciated. Best $25 I've spent in a long time. Cannot recommend highly enough! Wish I had another broken vacuum. read more

Great sevrice, knowledgeable and wouldn't even take my money. Told me how to fix my vacuum for a fraction of what he would have to charge. Also saw him do the exact thing for the customer in front of me with a sewing machine. read more

So I can reply to his message and again I really want to love this mom and pop shop. When I dropped of my sewing machine I told the person that I was getting the error and was threaded correctly. Threading a machine is basic to a woman like me who has been sewing for 40 years. I informed them that it's either the sensor or a belt if they could look at it it would be great. Not once did I ask them to fix anything over the phone, that's not how things are fixed so let's be real. I asked them on the phone if they looked at the issues I pointed out. I had to spend another $150 at another shop to have them look at it and what do you know? There was a bar that needed to be replaced that's part of the tension process in the machine that needed to be fixed. Had the repair person at this shop bothered to look at it they would have seen the problem. After being insulted on the phone and on Yelp, I will never come to this shop for anything anymore. I can not tolerate a person that is so willing to insult people. read more

This family business is superior. I have a Bernina mechanical machine purchased in 1970 that they have serviced many times to keep it running like a charm and their prices are great. read more

This store deserves 5 stars and more !! I was looking for a reliable vacuum cleaner for my parents and wanted to get it at a local store. After browsing some Yelp reviews, I landed here and I'm so happy I did! The customer service I received was exceptional. Both the owner and his wife were sooooo sweet and kept the store open for me so I could drive over after work to try some vacuums. I ended up purchasing the Cirrus CR79 and I love it ! It makes vacuuming so easy! The owner demonstrated the vacuum for me and answered all my questions. I would recommend their shop to everyone. I wish they sold groceries so I could visit them more often - they were the nicest business owners I've met in a long time. I would recommend this store to anyone needing a new vacuum cleaner, sewing machine or repair services. Every time I use the vacuum it's a joyful experience not only because the machine is great, but also because I remember the positive experience I had at the shop. If you're a local, please support their business! read more

Once again, Alex and family have proven to be THEE best repair shop!!! I have now had them repair my Kenmore sewing machine once and my Dyson Animal vacuum twice. Service is usually completed same or next day, and service charges are minimal (in my opinion). Every time I come into the shop I am greeted with such kindness, and treated like an old family friend. Never have I experienced this with previous shop I used in my old hometown. I highly recommend Auburn Sew & Vac for all of your sewing machine or vacuum repairs! read more

I cannot say enough about Alex at Auburn Sew and Vac. I live in the SF Bay Area. I searched four stores to get a drive belt for my Eureka upright vac. One store owner practically chased me out of her store saying "We don't work "on THOSE"-- was downright rude (see review of California Sew and Vac in San Rafael CA). I also tried several internet part sites and Eureka official web site to no avail. My sister went to Auburn Sew and vac near her home. She said Alex went out of his way to resolve the problem, even gave her belts that may work at no charge. He said no charge and apologized for the troubles we were having trying to repair our machine to keep it out of landfill. Kudos to Alex. Give that man a raise! read more

Alex was wonderful, helpful, and knowledgeable. Great service! It was well worth the drive down from Grass Valley.

Recently visited this business, again, and as usual a GREAT! friendly family, service, conversation, and a business with integrity. They are SO busy, you do have to wait about 2 weeks for your repairs. Mine was on my Janome 6500 sewing machine. As always Joseph did a quality clean & service on my machine and for a very reasonable price. Thank you, Julie, Joseph, and Alex. I think my machine works better than when I bought it!! Amazing! Simply wonderful people. Look no further if you are in need of any sewing machine or vacuum service/sales. This family run business of over 30 years is again,..amazing. The owners here(Mom/Dad/Son) are always so eager to help their customers with a smile. The last time I visited the store while waiting to speak with one of the owners, I believe his name is Alex, I witnessed something you don't see any more service industries today. A customer who had dropped off a vacuum for service had returned for pick up. Alex presented the customer with his repaired vacuum, and advised the customer that the issue was simply a bad internal belt. He advised the customer that the repair was very minimal and an adjustment was all that was required and did the repairs free of charge. The customer was very pleased with the good news, and insisted on paying something. But Alex would not accept. After an appreciative handshake, the customer said he will be back soon with a sewing machine in need of repairs for his wife and will recommend Auburn Sew ands Vac to all his friends. Now that's how business should be done in a small town! read more

3 stars is generous, because I REALLY want to like this business. The people there are very nice, but I've had my machine in to them twice and it still doesn't work properly. The first time I took it in for a tune up and because the reverse didn't work. When I got it back the reverse still didn't work. I took it back in within about a month and he wanted to charge me again to fix it. After trying to explain that it wasn't fixed the first time he didn't charge me, but it was going to take another 2 weeks. The reverse now works but the zig-zag stitch does not, and I previously did not have issues with it. Maybe it's user-error, but I'll find someone else to fix it this time. read more
