There's nothing here too challenging for the youngsters, which probably means there's not too much that will occupy the older children for too long. There's a basketball hoop and plenty of space, although I was surprised to see that it was so close to the road and not fenced. There's a table/chair but it's not that close to the playground. There are bench seats as well. No drinking fountain....no surprise for Mitcham Council and not a lot of shade apart from the dappled tree shadows. *Dogs allowed*

The flying fox is amazing, and climbing play is better than ever. There are a lot seating but we could do with more shades. The only bad thing about this playground is dragging the kids out afterwards and finding a restaurant that is happy to play host to wet and sandy bottoms. A delight for both children and adults alike (and the self-proclaimed in betweeners like myself), this is a must see portion of the harbour. The kid's playground is spectacular. I agree with my fellow reviewers when they say it may be Sydney's best playground. If you can elbow the kids off the swinging, rotating disc, definitely do so, and take a ride. It's a surefire good time. And what about the slide? Yes, you can glide down the wide slide with several mates by your side (couldn't resist that one, sorry). During the weekdays around lunchtime, however, the Quarter becomes the "play and lounge" center for the nearby corporate crowd. With public ping pong tables (BYO paddles and balls), it's a good place to get a little physical without turning your business suit into a sweatsuit. And while you're letting your hair down, bring your lunch on over and sunbake in the public lounge chairs. It might just be the perfect pick-me-up to get you through the rest of your work day.

During the week it is always packed with mothers, prams and little kids. There are swings for big kids and swings for the little ones, a white four horse seesaw I remember from my childhood, a whirl-a-round seat that's a bit hard to twist with more than one adult in there, two slides and a couple of different climbing apparatus. Only a five minutes walk from coffee shops it's a good for mums with prams that want to get together over a take away cuppa whilst their kids play outdoors. Unfortunately there are no bathrooms at this park so it's back to said cafes if the kids (or you) need the toilet.

There are really two playgrounds here, one for toddlers and one for bigger kids and adults. The toddler playground is entirely fenced. I'll be focusing on the toddler playground. There's a partially shaded sand pit with a working water spout, and shaded benches and tables near the sand pit for parents to sit and keep an eye on the kids. There's a plastic play structure with a slide near the sand pit, and a large (3m by 3m?) climbing structure made of rope. There're also two metal structures shake like tubes for making music, and two swings, one for smaller children and a regular swing. Unfortunately, aside from a few scattered sitting areas, there are no other structures within the toddler area for kids to play with, such as a train or vehicle structure, rocking horse, merry go round, etc. Still, the playground is well shaded from the abundant trees, and is kept clean and well maintained. Not the most exciting playground, but a solid favorite with great surrounds.

We don't get to take advantage of the park as much as we like, but we definitely make use of the running paths and exercise area. It's nice to say hello to passing neighbors walking by or listen to the children laugh and play. I have to take more time out of my busy days to enjoy the outdoors and lie on that bench reading a book in the sun.

For the kids, there are an aimless number of activities; from playing on the equipment, kicking a ball around on the huge open field or bike riding on the paved footpath. For adults, the footpath is open for bicycles or runners, but the sheer enjoyment of peace and quiet while the kids play should make any parent sigh with relief. Besides the huge open grounds, winding bicycle trails and two separate playgrounds, the park also offers cricket pitches and Bexley Oval for everyone to enjoy. So whether you're just there for a quiet picnic or for entertainment for the kids, Bexley Park will always be a big winner in everyone's books...especially mine.

This lovely family-friendly park always has a few dogs running around, a few games of Frisbee going on and a few people kicking a football around, is well-maintained, expansive, and with ample barbeques and plenty of shade. There are plenty of cubicles in the bathrooms, plenty of room to shower and change in the change room and, rarely for the Eastern Suburbs, some privacy is even offered for the more modest amongst us. (Not me, I grew up here.) If the BBQ's are all in use (common in Summer), supplies can be found at the Bronte Kiosk and fish'n'chips and the like can be had from any of the shops across the road. DO NOT expect to find a newspaper down here though, the caffs all have them to read on the premises but if you plan on reading the trashy Sunday papers in the park or on the beach it's BYO.
