(Lennon and McCartney) I attended a charitable organization's golf outing on Tuesday and had a very enjoyable afternoon. No, I don't play golf except for a round of mini a few times a year. The grounds are gorgeous, with flowers, landscaped scenery, and gazebos everywhere. The bartenders and servers were all courteous, professional and very helpful. Blackstone cooked a simple dinner for our 100+ guests. It was a nice "make your own sandwich" version with burger patties, hot dogs, chicken and sausages paired with platters of cheese, onions, tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, rolls and potato salad. They have a massive outdoor patio with plenty of tables and chairs for us to drink, socialize, and eventually enjoy dinner.

The price of 68 with a cart and unlimited (really worn out and tired) range balls off grass included with greens fees. I never see public courses in CT have grass ranges. They layout wasn't bad. The front 9 was a little tight. Whoever designed the course had to be creative with the landscape. The course was very hilly which I don't mind. Some memorable par 3's. The greens required very accurate approach shots. Most misses were short as approach shots that were right left or long usually required a difficult chip up a slope or ended up in the woods. The bad: Unfortunately when I played on 5/15 (normally a great time of year for growing grass) the fairways were in rough shape with bare spots lots of spots that could have been considered ground under repair. The greens were slow and in rough shape as well. Of all my putts I would be hard pressed to remember one that rolled well. Most putts were bouncing around from the start. Not a waking course at all. In fact they wouldn't let you walk even if you wanted to. I guess this helps with pace of play given some of the longer walks in between holes and the hilly landscape. Overall: Considering the conditions of the course especially the greens, pace of play and layout I would say this course was average at best. Not terrible for the price. I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to play here again. If the greens were grass covered, cut and rolled and the fairways were in better condition that might be a different story. XGolf is about as perfect an indoor golf experience as you can get. The technology on the…read moresimulators is amazing! The ground actually tilts to adjust for your lie and the balls are automatically returned and teed up if necessary. You can rent the simulators for $50 an hour. Our group of 3 was able to play 4 holes in that time, we saw a group of two ahead of us play 7 holes. Granted, we aren't great golfers, but it would have been nice to play at least 9 holes. XGolf has 3 giant TVs so you can watch while you wait for your turn. They also serve beer and wine, but be warned, beers cost close to $7 a pop. There are only 4 simulators so book your time early. Cost and timeframes aside XGolf was an awesome time, friendly staff and everyone in the whole place was having a blast!

The epitome of a public course!…read more I've played here multiple times a year for a long time. I'll never return. Last few times we played, the rounds were ridiculously long and we ran into some really obnoxious people. We just finished the 11th hole, and didn't realize they changed the layout. 12 now went straight up the hill to the right. Again, we didn't realize this since it was the first time playing after the hole layout change. So people were on the par 3 green and one guy started screaming at us as we hit our drives. "Get off my tee box, Get off my tee box". He drove the cart over screaming and cursing. Tried to calm him down saying we didn't know but he kept on, "this is my tee box". Frigging moron. A simple, 'next hole is over there' would have sufficed but no, he had to make a big issue over it. Anyway, last two times we played, we left after 9 holes, and after 15 holes. Too slow play. No ranger, no beverage cart. The course is not in very good condition. Seemingly nobody repairs ball marks. Tee boxes with crab grass so high it's hard to find a spot to put your tee. So basically, the pace of play, course condition, and some people with attitudes will keep me away from this place. Hope you fare better.

I've been lucky enough to play many courses in the U.S., Canada and Caribbean in my lifetime, even…read morethough I'm not a great golfer (it comes with work...have to at least be willing to make your client look really good). Many times I've driven by Leicester Country Club and never gave it a second thought. Having never been there, I thought it was a private club, since it looked so nice from the outside. Finally, two weeks back, I went to LCC with a friend...and I was pleasantly surprised at how well maintained the course was, well laid out, and for the price, a bargain! The people in the clubhouse and bar area are terrific, very down to Earth, and this Sunday, my birthday, will be my third visit in three weeks. I hope to have enough to buy my first-ever membership in the Spring!
