Good place to spend time with kids and family. Formerly known as "Park on the Lid," is an expansive park built on top of I-90 to protect the neighborhood from freeway disturbances. It is also home to two playgrounds, an "East" and a "West" playground.  The "East" playground is located next to Feroglia baseball fields and a picnic shelter. The "West" playground is located next to basketball courts and a large grassy lawn and is a big larger with a Safari theme. Both feature new, interactive equipment and are just a 5-10 minute walk from each other by a well-maintained paved walking path that extends through the park. Blackberry can be occasionally found along the edge of the park. Free parking and easy access.

Great view of Seattle for tennis

If you're not a Mercer Island resident or a tennis player constantly looking for open courts, you're not going to know about this one. Hidden at the top of West Mercer Island, the view of Seattle, the 90 bridge, and Lake Washington is spectacular. Although a little windy at times, which could ruin your game, it's a nice park for all grass sports. There's a giant soccer field below, a dog park above, and picnic tables by the dog park. It's a decent size for taking a breezy walk and very good for practicing sprints. If you are an early bird, arrive by 7 AM and you'll easily get courts. 8 is pushing it, but if not, late afternoon playing may as well get you a spot.

You get some good views from this park obviously of the bridge but of Seattle and Lake Washington as well.

I was looking to play during my last visit and a friend suggested going here. First off I had no idea they added pickleball courts and was impressed at the 8 very nice courts and good level of competition. The format took a little getting used to as it appeared to have been 4 on, 4 off. I could tell there were a lot of regulars here and everyone really came to play. I wish I could've played here again but I guess it will have to wait until my next visit.

The parking lot by the pickle ball courts were full so we turned around and parked at the community center. So much better with ample open spaces and no waiting. Recommend coming here first if one arrives on a weekend afternoon. It was about five minutes or so walk down to the pickle ball court from the community center. The pickle ball courts were first come first served and were full that day. Lots of kids were also playing in the nearby playground. Similarly lots of dogs were enjoying their freedom in the off leash section of the park. We stopped by a small beach already occupied by a couple of sun bathers. Views towards Meydenbauer Bay in Bellevue on the right and east Seattle on the left. We headed to the wetlands walk as our final stop as it roughly led us in the direction of the community center. It was peaceful here with duck families swimming around. A few eagles were also nesting inside with lots of warning signage but we did not catch a sight of any. Nicer restroom facilities were available in the community center but also by the pickle ball courts if needed.
