I stayed for three weeks and the level of service never changed, it was always terrific. The hotel is very clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. This is one of the newest hotels in the area and it is nicely appointed and roomy. The bed was very comfortable as were the chairs in the room. The petite déjeuner (breakfast buffet) in the hotel restaurant was fabulous. Eggs to order any way you'd like them, many choices of freshly baked pastries, meats, cheeses, cereal, waffles, yogurt, freshly squeezed orange juice, apple juice, grapefruit juice, fresh fruit, the choices were abundant and delicious. The restaurant overlooked a small garden and was really nice to enjoy while eating breakfast. The hotel is a short stroll from both the Mons Garé (train station) and the Grand Prix (large shopping mall which includes an IKEA). I can't say enough good things about the Congres Hotel Van der Valk. If you're looking for a great hotel in the Mons area, look no further, this is the place.

I went to pick them up and the young lady at the desk wasn't at the desk. She was tucked to the side playing on the computer or something and taking her time to attend to the guests and customers. When asked for help she acted as if forced to get out of bed to let the cat out or something. Sure, it may be a very good hotel but customer service is lacking, meaning that the first person you meet who works there gives you a bad taste in your mouth about the whole place.
