This is a hidden gem in the little town of Saignon, perched high above Apt. Walk through town past the fountain. On your way to the ruins at the top are signs to this delightful restaurant run by Georges et Christiane. Their collaboration is brilliant- tasty, well-presented Provençal food with lots of extras.
They accommodated my husband's gluten allergy, in my broken French. Lunch was reasonable @ $17 € pp plus wine & coffee. I have included photos. They started with a mash pea amousé-bouche then a choice of 3 plats. My hubby had beef skewers and I had the tournade de cochon (pork). We ended with a lemon tarte for me and a fromage-fruits simple but delicious dessert for my hubby. The surprise- an aperitif of rose water with a poppy-honey glacé. All locally sourced and farm to table. George's presented me with a rose. Coffee came with some petit-fours featuring pistachio, almond a handmade marshmallow and un petite beignets (jam donut).
I highly recommend a stop in this town and make sure to dine inside or on the patio. read more
