GYMNASIUM REVIEW ONLY:…read more My Daughter is currently enrolled in a fall mini-club via Blast Volleyball that is out of Gordon School. Kudos to Gordon for seeing an a opportunity to support kids athletics and make a little money! The school is nestled off a major road, in a suburban neighborhood. Not a large parking lot, but enough spots that we require. Cute little playground. The facility is very clean with ample bathrooms (they have baby wipes and offer free lady products in the bathrooms!) The gymnasium is in great condition with bleachers. Great space for your kids to practice.

Staff is calm patient and flexible which really is a must for summer camp. Lincoln is more individualized and quaint in comparison to some of the big name summer camp machines in the area. When they say there's yoga each week, it's not a yoga video but actually a yoga instructor that visits. Cooking class happens every week with a chef. Save the Bay comes, A Gizmos and Gadgets STEM instructor gives a lesson every week which my boys get super psyched about. There's a lot of time spent outdoors exploring which is how summer camp should be. Lincoln hits all the bases. My 5yo gets overwhelmed in large groups but at Lincoln teachers like Ms Mac take the time to really get to know them - They notice when kiddos are feeling lost and they bring them back into the group effortlessly. You can tell Ms Mac actually really wants to be there and my children feel that. I can't recommend Lincoln enough. If my boys were girls, they'd be attending Lincoln throughout the school year. Thank you for another wonderful summer!

Mr. Hodes (President) lacks knowledge and experience in how to appropriately interact with families from other backgrounds, other than his own (white). In 10th grade, my son got into a physical altercation with another child. This was an isolated incident. I do not instill violence in my children. There was a "zero tolerance" policy in place. So they suspended him and naturally I was enraged by their inability to be open to another approach/ perspective. I emailed and met in person about my concerns. I researched and provided reputable resources to support my concerns. Additionally, my son has always struggled academically, due to being formally diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia. He just had a most recent psychological testing by my district that further supported key components that should have urged them to reevaluate their policy. After all that time, energy and effort, it amounted to nothing. Instead, Mr Hodes personalized my advocacy and embraced his ego and privilege of being a white! How typical! Later that same year, I came across him at my sons basketball game. He looked me right in my face with disgust and couldn't maintain his professionalism, especially given his title. He is a non entity, so I found humor in it and was satisfied seeing him for who he really is. Then Mariann Hogan was my son's guidance counselor! What a joke! I have my MSW and basic skills to create a healthy experience under the scope of a guidance counselor was not present. Each year, a new academic support plan was to be developed. I was only able to get two plans out of four years (freshman and sophomore year). Half the time the teachers didn't adhere to the whole purpose of the academic plan. The worst of it all is senior year, during the most critical time of the college application process, she takes three weeks off. There was no one to take her place so my son had the crucial support he needed. This was an extremely stressful time, which should make sense to the average school personnel. To no surprise, my son backed out of the idea of college. Mrs Hogan sent a very strong message with her careless absence and lack to interpersonal skills to have built an appropriate relationship with my son. The whole school needs to get revamped and embrace Critical Race Theory. Culturally, so lost!

This location is convenient for me. Now I do want to start off by saying after so long and several trials and errors, I can proudly say I am CCRI's Class of 2025! I graduated happily last month and that was all thanks to the Fresh Start Scholarship that the school provides it gives students 2 years free to obtain their associates degree to returning students and adult learners like myself. It was my saving grace, between this scholarship and Pell grants I got my degree debt free, didn't pay not one Penny thank you CCRI! I attended mostly online classes which was perfect as I was working while going to school. But I did attend few of my classes in person and I did enjoy the professors very much- they're much better than when I remember from way back when- they seemed to care and were able to teach properly without just reading you a PowerPoint. The campus is huge and has tons of space to study, cozy chairs and tables and a lot of common areas to mingle and catch up. I also was apart of Phi Theta Kappa the International Honor Society for 2 year colleges. The school has a chapter if you get accepted into the program please join it's so worth it so many perks- this is invite only based on your academic excellence grades. They also have tons of clubs get involved and meet new people and have fun. My guidance counselor Dennis B was awesome. He helped me with my game plan the whole way through and helped me succeed and he was my saving grace! It starts off great when you have an academic advisor on the same page as you. Also if you're struggling financially and think you have to quit school- don't. Check out your options and resources at the school, they might be able to help. Essentially they want to see you win not lose. CCRI was great to me. But I don't miss that huge hill and the horrendous parking, or forgetting where I parked because I was running late to class, that's the only thing I don't miss. To students fresh out of high school you DONT have to attend a university or an expensive school right away just because someone said so, CCRI is perfect to go debt free and get the same education as everyone else. That's just my opinion. Especially since right out of high school we don't know what we want to do or if we do we change our mind several times. Give it a go! Adult learners as well go back and get that degree!

The main location is in Warwick and there are various other locations throughout the state; those locations are Providence, Lincoln, Newport, and Westerly. There are approximately 16,000 students and 300 staff. This building in Warwick, was built as a brutalist style; it was considered contemporary in the 1970s. I think it looks like a large submarine; personally, I think it's an ugly building lol. The parking lot is huge but always packed; it's on a hill so if you're parked all the way at the bottom of the hill, you're going to need to give yourself extra time to get to class. I took a few semesters at CCRI, and many of those classes were at this campus. Since this college was more affordable for me, this was the best route at the time. I had a good experience while studying there. The teachers I had were decent. My plan was to get my Associates degree and then transfer to a 4 year college. I deducted a star because the wait-list for certain programs was astronomical. I was on a wait-list for the X-ray technician program and that was about a 3-5 year long wait from what I recall. Overall, I think it's a great school to start your college career after high school. It's also a great place to take refresher courses. They also offer 1 year certificate programs. If I was still living in RI, I would definitely take some courses, especially if it's free or partially free.

I decided to go here because it's affordable; parents aren't rich enough to pay for my tuition and I wasn't the smartest to get a scholarship lol. I enjoyed my experience here except like most people mentioned, there wasn't much of a college life. I worked full time and went to school full time so my time was limited to hang around anyway. Although, I didn't get the college experience, I still felt like I got a good education. I switched majors a couple of times but ended up with one I loved and my advisor, professor, and head of the department was awesome. He guided me in the right direction and was an easy going person. I took night classes for the most part; I've had classes until 10 pm. The scheduling was decent for working students. The website was outdated but it got the job done. I was able to pay my bills, schedule courses, and access my grades/transcript. Downfalls, parking was always a nightmare; I would park what felt like miles from the building. Imagine walking alone at night and in the winter! I always felt safe but just be aware of your surroundings and bundle up in the winter. The buildings were old but it got the job done. Classes averaged about 25-30 students. Professors were helpful, friendly, and smart; I've had some really strict ones. Overall, if you're on a budget and want a good education, I recommend going here. Now I'm going back to graduate school and look forward to doing everything online! Those days of going to campus are over. I would definitely send my future children here. (If I still lived in RI).
