Attila is a Concourse legend. Just a small shop with two barber's chairs, plus waiting seats. However, Attila is the best of the best in the barbering trade, yet a gent's haircut is just £7.
Attila has been cutting hair since he was a small boy in Turkey, so hairdressing is in his blood, and it shows in the results and in his relaxed confidence. I like to come here, we each know a bit of each others' life stories from conversations over the years.
What has been a real pleasure is to see Attila take a so-so barber shop and put his stamp on it, gradually re-decorating and also buying out the middleman to rent direct from the Concourse.
Parents bring their small boys here for a haircut after school, lots of senior citizens here too and everyone in between. I asked Attila if he cut's women's hair also, he said yes no problem, but women don't ask for haircuts here and he is not bothered as they are more fussy and he has enough business.
No appointments, you need to show up and wait your turn, but you can work out when the peak times are and avoid them (e.g. 4pm after school), the wait is rarely too long.
