The first shop we visited upon arriving in Solvang, this adorable children's boutique drew first blood when it came to emptying out my wallet, because there was NO way my wife was going to leave without purchasing an outfit (or three) for our toddler sons...especially with the holidays on the horizon! Awesome, friendly, welcoming service; surprisingly decent prices (especially for a tourist hotspot in California); an unmatched quality: we even saw some local brands from back home that are known to us, that we love (i.e. Bunnies by the Bay), so we knew almost from the get-go that the wares here were curated by someone with knowledge and style. This store, inexplicably, not kid friendly. My 8 month pregnant wife and our 7 and 9 year old were browsing for some things for the new baby. Literally anytime our seven year old touched anything she was scolded by sales lady "are you going to buy that." It was ridiculous and excessive. Plenty of other, better stores in close proximity. read more

Had a lovely experience here today buying a present for my young nephew. A wonder selection of unique and reasonably priced toys. The woman at the counter was extremely warm and friendly and truly seemed to love what she does. She even offered to wrap up my purchase for Christmas at no extra charge. One star down because I haven't been able to visit in person since they open so late, but I have purchased from them online before and have been able to find some harder-to-find wooden animal figures that my daughter loves to play with. I shopped online before I even realized that it was somewhat local to me. I just wish they opened earlier because we were walking around a few mornings in a row and were always out and about by the time noon came along. Very cute options, but many toys were upwards of $20 more for toys I have purchased on Amazon. I would rather support brick and mortar, but in instances where I see this kind of markup I cringe. Everyone has a bottom line, but yikes. The layout is adorable but would be tough for anyone with ADA requirements like a wheelchair. Overall, sweet to browse in, but not decently priced. Was able to find comparable items in kid's shops down the street with equivalent quality and style for nearly half the price. read more

Great kids boutique in the neighborhood. The owners stocks brands including Skip Hop, Green Toys, Haba, plan Toys, Mary Meyer and more! Highly recommend if you're looking for baby clothes, toys and accessories. For toddlers, they have a small selection of clothes. However if you're looking for a cute set of toddler friendly plates, utensils and BPA free bottles this is a great stop. They offer a large variety of materials and style. My favorite is the Skip Hop brand for both durability and easy to clean. read more

Doting parents and grandparents, beware! If you don't restrain yourself, you could easily spend your baby's entire future college fund here. The selection of designer infant and toddler clothing and accessories is awesome and exceeds any baby/children's section I've seen in upscale department stores. The shop isn't big, but it's jam-packed (tastefully) with the most beautiful items, especially for little girls. Service was friendly and helpful. I oohed and aahed particularly over the Kate Mack swimsuits, all adorned with rosettes and ruffles--too cute! I may have to buy a wading pool or enroll my infant in swim classes just so I can put her into one of these swimsuits. A must-see if you are in the area. We were walking around town all morning shopping and had amazing customer service... until we got here. The woman at the cash register didn't greet us, didn't smile our way or seemed at all welcoming. A lot of the toy items could be found at other shops that were friendlier. I did end up purchasing because I love supporting small business but I would not come back especially with other children shops in walking distance. read more

Awesome store. I got two hats for my boy there that were on sale, only $5 each, they are adorable! Unfortunately I didn't get to spend enough time in the stores as the baby was a little fussy but I will definitely return! Best out of all the baby stores is Solvang! read more

I was trying to replace a stained lovey for my son and I got the color wrong-- I'm a rookie mom and I saw how crucial this stuffed toy blankie was for my sons sleep and was imagining future of sleepless nights with "the wrong one!" Laura from Atterdag was amazing --she sent me the right color and an envelope with the return address for the wrong product (again, which was my fault as I admitted to her in an email). I truly appreciated this, the thought of finding the right package and then right address and right postage was so daunting. (Parenthood is sooo challenging it's so nice when people get this and give you a break!) Thank you forever! read more

Really beautiful, well curated store. It's a great place to buy super nice quality toys and baby items. It would be a perfect place for a really nice baby shower gift. We have many of the items she had on offer, most of our most popular with the kids things, actually. The owner was very friendly and engaged with both myself and my kids, who were delighted with the offerings. Both found something they loved and it was nice to have really nice things to choose from. She has Green toys, Skip Hop, Sophie and lots of book related merchandise that are among the favorites around our house. She also had some lovely clothes and PJs for older toddlers. Such a cute place. Well worth a trip in if you need a high quality gift or toy. Her prices were very fair given the selection and location. Can't go wrong with this place. read more

I really don't want to support a local business with such terrible service. This store does have cute things and a nice selection, but I got such terrible vibes from the shop clerk. I would have left without buying anything, but my son wanted a toy I had been promising him, and this store had it. There was no greeting when I came in. The clerk kept on staring at me suspiciously. I did try to leave because who would want to give business to such a nasty person? However, my kid was crying for his toy, so I bought it grudgingly. And still no hello or thank you when the clerk rang up my order. Sorry, I love small businesses, but only the ones who appreciate customers, like the coat of arms store that's diagonal to this shop across the street. What a nice lady!! You need to take some tips from that shop owner. A cheery hello upon my entrance and a few sweet words for my kid, something a children's store clerk couldn't even muster. read more

BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE.. My friend daughter and I went here on Wednesday. We were not greeted or said goodbye too. My 3 yr old had to go to the bathroom so we left. I wanted to go back and look, but my friend reminded me that that lady was cold not to greet us and she didn't want to spend money in her store. read more

I was on vacation up in Solvang, CA with a friend that came from New Orleans, my friend is having her first Grand son and Laura the owner greeted us and was extremely helpful and gave us great customer service and also made suggestions. While visiting Solvang for the first time last week, I went in Atterdag Kids looking for a unique gift item for my grandchild and great-niece. Well, all I can say is "be careful what you wish for!!! " The merchandise was so much more than I expected. Laura was wonderful in helping me find everything I could have possibly asked for. My shopping experience was so successful, I had to have my purchases shipped home!! (which Laura totally handled for me) After spending a couple more days in California, my package from Atterday Kids was delivered the day after my return home. I have two little girls, and let's just say that I couldn't stop shopping for my girls. Even my macho husband got involved and picked out some cute outfits. The owner was extremely helpful, pulling new sizes out for me. Worst ever! Bought a toy for a three year old, and it breaks within 24hours, so I bring it and ask if I can exchange and the woman says "this is a family business, if my kid broke something I would not try to return it". Nice to know you don't stand behind your merchandise. read more

This place, while it looks charming from the outside, has a really strange vibe on the inside. The woman at the counter suspiciously eyeballs you the entire time with an accusing stare as if you are going to steal some of her "precious wares" as you make your way through the store. We are pretty well dressed people who never even get a second glance when going about our commerce in the world and have never been profiled in any way, shape or form like we were when we went to this store. My wife and I went in there with our baby and it felt so strange with her accusing stares following us the entire time. I tried to smile and she got even more skeptical with her stare. I gave her a look trying to make her know that I could buy her entire store a thousand times over. She shouldn't be running a business. My suggestion is to shut down as you are horribly suited as a business person. I would have spent a couple hundred dollars in your store but walked out because you are such a creep. read more
