Attack Theatre builds community with artists and audiences through the process and production of personal, accessible dance-based performance. Blending varied art forms with dynamic contemporary dance, Attack Theatre creates passionate portrayals of everyday life.
History
Established in 1994.
Founded in 1994 by Artistic Directors Michele de la Reza and Peter Kope, Attack Theatre combines modern dance, original live music, multimedia and interdisciplinary art forms to present work in traditional and non-traditional spaces throughout the United States and around the world. In addition to the founding Artistic Directors, the artistic staff includes a music director/composer, technical director, dancers, musicians, video designers and scenic and costume designers.
The directors have trained in a variety of styles and traditions which has helped feed the aesthetic diversity of their projects. Both directors share a love of passionate dancing fused with theatrical flavor. In 2000, Attack Theatre was joined by the acclaimed cellist and composer Dave Eggar as music director. Dave is a Grammy nominated artist who has performed and recorded with many artists including the Who, Josh Groban, and Evanescence.
Meet the Manager: Rebecca H.
Rebecca Himberger is a native of the Washington, DC area, but is a lifetime Pittsburgher at heart. She serves, manages, and markets artists during the day, and moonlights as a ballroom-dancing, dog-walking, jogging, motorcycle-riding, golfer by night. Prior to her work with Attack Theatre (where she has developed and implemented several successful and not-so-successful crowd-sourcing programs, microgiving campaigns, co-curated works and revamped their audience engagement practices), she served as the Department Head of Dance at Camp Louise, the Media Representative for Pittsburgh Oceana and Sierra Club's Mercury Campaign, as the choreography intern at the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera for the 2005 summer stock season and taught preschool to suburban Pittsburgh four-year-olds. Rebecca is a proud Lawrenceville resident, proficient knitter, black-thumbed gardener, obsessive dog mother, and lover of the arts. Her daily musings can be followed on twitter @rebhimberger.
