These are people with very little money, either drawing the dole, or in minimum wage jobs, where often their hours have been cut. But, without a car their chances of improving their lot are significantly reduced. It's a vicious cycle! Ronnie does what he can to help, but it's clear that he finds the situation demoralising on occasion. Nevertheless, he has a wealth of experience behind him, and a solid set of shoulders with which to carry the present burdens. Being an affable soul, with a sense of civic interest, coupled with a good sense of humour, he will do more than survive I'm sure.

Tyres are very sensibly priced, guys are more than helpful and the speed they do things at is amazing to watch. I had a puncture own my VW T5 yesterday, raced back to Bude just before closing and there they were, happy to oblige and sorted out me a new tyre as well as checking my spare tyre over and noticing a tear in it.
