I phoned Champion and Emmett, and they were able to fit me in the following morning (in hindsight, this should have been a red flag). When I dropped my car off, the mechanic I spoke to quoted me 'approximately £200', and that if any additional work was required that they would phone me to discuss and approve. Later that day, I returned to collect my car. It had passed its MOT; a new cylinder and bearing had been fitted. The bill came to nearly double the quoted price - £376. I had had no discussions with the garage regarding any additional work or cost. The mechanic present was unable to negotiate the price and kept stating 'I thought the gaffer had rang you'. Eventually, he rang the owner, 'Ashley', who had done the work. He fully acknowledged that no discussion had taken place regarding additional work. It took a long and unpleasant discussion to reduce the price - initially Ashley had asked for £300 (in cash). In the end, I agreed to pay £250, but even then, I feel as though I have been taking advantage of. It is garages like this that give mechanics a bad name.

They offer accident repairs, resprays, general body repairs, MOTs, services and other mechanical repairs. They are reasonably priced too for the work that they do, you do need to book in advance though as they are often busy.

Was given a collection date for next week, phoned today to check details so i could insure it before collection, was told it had not yet been delivered blaming Baileys main office/ bank holiday. Further phone calls ignored / unavailable to come to phone / day off. I phoned Baileys main office in Bristol to check if caravan was on way to Lowdhams, was told they had not even started building it yet. Managed to speak to some one at Lowdhams after many hours phoning, told them what they had said at Bristol, they then said i had got my dates mixed up,- that i was wrong about collection date ect. Oh no i have not ! oh no i am not ! Offered me an ex display caravan instead.. No sorry i ordered a new one, delivery date arranged. Bought awning ect to go with it, booked my holidays for week after delivery, sold my old van, changed my insurance.. all based on Lowdhams sales staff promises. They take your deposit, make false promises , and leave you to fume Trying to get my deposit back. will buy else where.

The location is very convenient to walk down to the city centre while you wait for the job to be done. The did some warranty work on our Clio and most importantly I trust the guys thereeven with my BMW. The nationwide garage chain is AA approved and have been Repairer of the year several times (check their website). They accept Tesco Clubcard vouchers towards MOT and service and their newly revamped website is good for making online bookings as well as occasionally finding money off vouchers. Recently their Fuel Service (see website) has received a lot of good press in improving fuel efficiency of cars.

A Mr John Woodcock a Sales Executive at Chesterfield Peugeot quoted me the cheapest all in, up front price for a Peugeot 3008 Allure 1.6 EGC Diesel Automatic, I placed my order there and then. The delivery was slightly longer than I first thought, but was not the fault of Bristol Street Motors as I did not order a standard model, it had extras and therefor was a factory order, and Peugeot shut down for a month during August in France. I think it is unfair to quote the price, but I can assure you the discount was substantial and well worth my trip to chesterfield. All the staff are pleasant and polite, from Andy the General Manager down to the service department, a very professional organization. Would, I recommend them, yes, If you are looking for a fair deal and quality service, look no further as Bristol Street Motors are the company for you. You won't be disappointed. And the Car, WOW, what a car, I can highly recommend this model, it's got all the kit and more. It's like a jet fighter, with HUD (colour display.) neat. with satnav input. wicked. This is a family run business and an exceptional one at that! With friendly staff you can trust these guys. They fix any car and give you a decent price. What is good is that the owners live a few yards away from the shop so your car is safe when left with them. Also their MOT test centre has been running since 2003 and is popular with the locals. You can book your MOT on line or speak to one of the staff. Whats really cool is that you can set up a reminder of your MOT and they will remind you when its near the time. Great, especially for me!
