Tammie was truly amazing, patiently explaining all of the bureaucratic monstrosity that is the American health care system, from HMOs to Medicare. She was highly knowledgeable, resourceful, and extremely personable. I honestly don't know what I would have done without her; she walked me through all the steps I needed to get the home care set up and was compassionate about the many obstacles I faced due to my father's terrible HMO. She helped me with getting my dad into his primary care and assisted me with all the steps needed to get his home health referral. The rest of the staff at Choice Matters is also excellent; my dad loved his physical therapist, Allen, who helped him get back on his feet, literally. My dad is a misanthropic curmudgeon who doesn't like most people, but he looked forward to his visits with Allen and was able to walk again with his support. The name of the agency really reflects that "Choice Matters" when you choose a caregiver. I highly recommend!

Most unprofessional assisted living place I've ever been in. I am a sub contractor and worked as a…read moreprofessional dog sitter and walker for a patient's family. They paid me, and I was not employed by the nursing home. An elderly staff member told me about a problem she had the night before with my daughter's dog supposedly biting a visitor. My daughter wears a body camera and the visitor skin wasn't broken, it was a scratch. The dog was merely startled and jumped up on the visitor to greet him. I wasn't even on the property that night but this older staff member stormed into the residents room and yelled at me while I was feeding the dog, and when I told her to stop yelling and calling me derogatory names she stormed out of the residents room and wouldn't listen to me try to defend my daughter. The resident who is 87 was visibly shaken and upset. The next day she called the resident's daughter who I was employed by, and told her if she didn't fire me and my daughter that she would not let her dad keep his dog on the premises anymore. This dog is his life. I had worked everyday for this client and came to this facility for two years but the residents daughter said she couldn't take the chance on them taking away her dad's dog. This wasn't the first time they threatened to take his dog away. So she said she had to fire me rather than take a chance on them taking her dad's dog away. Many other residents witnessed this incident and said my daughter's dog only scratched the visitor but he got in his car and chased my daughter around the building threatening to sue her and screaming obscenities at her. She called the police but he left before they got there. Many of the other residents looked forward to my coming there and letting them feed and pet the residents dog everyday. And besides me losing a paycheck from this client, because of this older staff member's cruel vindictiveness and need for control, she took away the joy those residents felt petting the dog everyday, not to mention how close the dog was to me. I took care of him since he was a tiny puppy. I also was close to the resident. The man was 87 and probably didn't understand why I suddenly wasn't there anymore. This was an extremely cruel act on the staff member's part especially since I wasn't even there the night my daughter and her dog were there. This shows that the staff member just didn't like me standing up for my daughter and wanted to throw her weight around and be malicious. A few weeks later, another strange thing happened. I got a call from a supposed new resident there asking if I could walk her dad's dog at this facility. I told her my rates and said I could walk him even though I knew I was banned from there. I suspected it was this crazy staff member playing games again because I had left my business card at the front desk and she couldn't answer the question where she heard about me. needless to say, I never heard from her again. Please don't send your loved ones to this place. I did absolutely nothing wrong at this facility except an excellent job of working for my client and walking his dog.

For example...Doctors on staff or at least on call? Oh, yes I was told. Not true. A Nurse practitioner was it...and if my "person"had a problem it turned out to be days before the issue was addressed and medication was disbursed. And speaking of medication...my person was given so many drugs his eyes were going in different directions and he didn't even know what planet he was on. If he moved any slower he would have been going in reverse. Trying to keep a watch on the drugs was becoming a full time job. Meanwhile seeing my person like that was heart breaking. Other issues...the food was supposedly made on the premises...but I was never shown the kitchen...and I did ask...more than once! When I questioned what was served for dinner the answer was usually mystery meat...and no salads or fresh fruit...and small portions....no seconds...but nobody cared. I was told if my person needed to go to a medical appointment transportation was promised through the facility...but the one time I requested this I was given the run around. It turned out not to matter as my person was sent to the ER for the 2nd time in five months. I took the hint and placed him in another facility where he was cared for, the food was prepared on the premises and was good and plentiful...and best of all...his mind started working again...his eyes cleared up...he knew where he was and we could have a conversation! Be careful when entrusting the care of your loved ones to any facility....visit often and keep your eyes wide open....and don't believe everything you are told.
