Atrium Health Family Medicine on John Davenport is a facility to stay away from. Dr. Thomas is a 7 out of 10 and he's the highlight. The all female office staff is rude, entitled, and a joke at their job. If getting you billing right is important don't drive onto the parking lot. Brandy the office manager is complicit in the incompetence and has no control or standards in place to run a " medical" facility. I'm completing this review so other folks don't waste their time. I would not recommend this hospital for anyone on medicare. The male inpatient internist and er doctors are shovenistic disrespectful to patients when they refuse certain treatments and want second opinion. My mother went in with one problem and an infection. They gave her medication that caused a stroke and a procedure that ruined her healthy kidneys. They milked medicare and now she is gone because of of two of these doctors. I could tell the male doctor whom I think worked for a pharma company because he put my mother on expensive pills last minute that one female doctor and nurse said she didn't need. read more

My 82 yr old mother came to the ER, Dec 15th after having either food poisoning or stomach virus, she was very dehydrated. IT took them so long to just get fluids going. Everytime the nurse came in to do something, she had to leave because she forgot something.The attending physican was seen by her 1 time all the other time she was just walking up and down the hall. Because of her dehydration her heart rate went up had a terrible headache. Because of the high heart rate they then admitted to ICU. BECAUSE SHE IS ON MEDICAID I HONESTLY BELIEVE THEY TOOK THEIR TIME AND DID ALL THE EXTRA FOR THE MONEY!! She is a widow on a very limited income. Will not do Floyd /Atrium again!!! my doc moved to Atrium after leaving a different medical center. I wanted to continue seeing her so I called Atrium and was told my insurance covered this. when I came in for my appointment I was told that this is out of network. I told her that I was told by someone there that it was in network. She said she'll mention to call center. whoever I made appointment with is who told me. my visit is now at least $500 possibly much more. always get names of people you are talking to and triple check what they say. huge disappointment read more

Stay clear of this place, my son had ACL surgery last year there with Dr. Bushnell and got a staph infection. he's had two surgeries since. I asked them to pick up the bill what we owed after insurance and I would not get attorneys involved. They have ignored me after I have called them several times, they have on record I have called several times. They do not CARE. Some hospital. I was so discouraged after my emergency room visit at this hospital that I changed not only hospitals but do not use any of Floyd Medical Center facilities or physicians. I was left with a $5,000 bill after an emergency room visit for stomach pains that ended up with me sitting in the hallway being treated while the people before and after me were taken to rooms. So with no real outcome diagnoses or resolution to my problem and spending hours embarrassed and uncomfortable in a hallway I still left owing $5,000! read more

Scheduled for a sedated MRI. I checked in. Taken back to the radiology and told them I was scheduled for a sedated MRI. Why are we taking more X-rays? Short delay, they took me to the pre-op area. Changed clothing, the nurse came in, failed on the IV attempt, and brought somebody else in. IV done. Went over the usual pre-op questions, vitals, etc. Your anesthesiologist will see you in a few. Half an hour later, she said he should be here shortly. After an hour, my wife went and found the nurse and who was accompanied by a patient advocate. They were short on staff. Who schedules procedures or doesn't have a standby/on-call person? Or why doesn't the on-call person handle only emergencies at night? You can't tell me those floor people didn't know they were short-staffed and wouldn't be able to handle the case today. We could've rescheduled, and that would've been better than fed a bunch of excuses, get a vein in my hand injured. They offered to give me a sedative. At that point, my faith in their abilities was at an uncomfortable level. Very condescending and patronizing. Stay away. read more

Would give zero stars if it was possible. Got admitted here and they ran all kinds of unnecessary tests just so they could pad their pockets. Didn't see a doctor the entire three days I was there until I threatened legal action...even then I didn't see the doctor who was supposed to be treating me absolutely a scam of a hospital, if you live in the area I must say that I would drive to Atlanta to get help and choose a different governing body besides atrium. This is absolutely bottom of the barrel care without a doubt. Patient interaction is zero, I am type 2 diabetic and they brought potatoes, rice, bananas, and other foods that diabetics should never eat so they could force me to take insulin shots. My daughter cut her hand and it needed a lot of stitches. She went to this ER and they made her wait for two hours without even looking at her wound which was bleeding and gaped open. They took patients walking in after her ahead of her. Finally she just left. This happened on her birthday and she had worked all day just to be left untreated and disregarded. And yes, she has insurance and the people taken ahead of her were not openly bleeding, wounded or brought by ambulance either. I had heard horror stories from others about this emergency room before but never could have imagined their lack of concern or negligence until it happened to my loved one. my son just had an appendectomy and the staff were amazing. starting with our rockstar ambulance drivers educating my son and playing music and making the whole experience fun and light hearted. ending at floyd where he was greeted by Haley, and eventually handed over to Jennifer and Shawna. these five individuals were everything I could ask for in this situation for a scared child facing and emergency surgery and recovery. they absolutely put him and our entire family at ease with their care and attention. we are so grateful that we ended up with kind and loveable professionals that made a scary situation something my child could approach with bravery and confidence in his safety and well-being. read more

I have been with the old Floyd doctors and hospital since the early 1990's Those doctors great. Now, that's all changed. Floyd health is now Atrium Health...And there has been great changes that my family and I have encountered. I have a new doctor. I found her on the Atrium portal. There were the doctors giving a video talk on their feelings about why they took this path. Choosing Dr. Bown-Boles. I liked what she said. I saw her achievements and her education. She was my instant choice! On the first visit, I knew she was the best doctor I've ever had. I asked questions and got answers. Her attention was on me, my problems and made a plan for me. When lab work came back, it was not 'Everything is great" like my N.P. had been telling me for years. I am anemic, have 1-2 stage kidney disease, and white blood cells were low. I am thankful for my doctor. I highly recommend Dr. Brown-Boles. Atrium hospital is another great. I found my daughter on the bathroom floor. Her Rottweiler had awakened me and I knew that something was terribly wrong. She was breathing, her hands and feet were cold. 911 sent the medics ambulance and the police arrived. They gave her an injection. They couldn't revive her. They took her to Atrium Health Hospital. She was in ICU for almost 2 weeks. She had tubes everywhere and they took blood every hour. I stayed with her all day every day. I was so fearful and prayed and kept praying. She had taken a three-month RX of Xanax and a bottle of aspirins. She did die and was revived, and she had a person with her at all times plus a medic. After about 2 weeks she went to a regular room with someone with her at all times. Then she went to Atrium Behavioral Health for in patientcare. They were all so concerned. She was getting better, and medicine was being adjusted. She became adjusted to her Meds and about a week later she could come home. She then attended an 8-9 week course about mental health and coping skills etc. There were counselors and group therapy. I am so grateful for all the support we received. Atrium Health Hospital saved my daughter's life. The suicide attempt was spur of the moment. The thought came and she reacted in a second. The very worse kind. No planning. Just a second thought and acting on that thought. I am so thankful that Atrium Health has made so many improvements. All the new doctors they have hired. Great doctors they have hired! They have greatly provided for me and my family. I am so glad Atrium Health is in Rome Georgia .. I will stay with Atrium! read more

Got a cut on my thumb while at work, boss took me here to get it patched up. No stitches, easy in and out. They charged my boss whatever and they paid for it. Nothing else was said. About a year later, and I get mail from a collections agency saying that I've been billed by Floyd. They never once said there was any additional charges. Never tried to get me to pay whatever remaining balance there was, because they are a bunch of scam artists. read more

This is entirely due to their billing department. Their quality of care and doctors are amazing and it's the only reason we are giving it a 1 star. Their billing has no idea how to properly apply charges to insurance. We have had nightmares dealing with them to where it took 2 years to get the birth of son and all the charges associated to it dealt with. And still do to this day with several remaining pediatrician bills. Never going back there again and have fully switched pediatrician providers and all other doctors closer to us who have more competent billing departments. If you don't have to go here, then don't. My story is long ,for very many reasons. 1st I start by why I was talked into coming to there detox unit ,where i was assured I would receive medical and spiritual guidance,,,guess what (WRONG)! The only reason I went in the first place was because the dr,s I had been seeing for over a yr totally disappeared, only a note on the door with a 1800 number, So no meds most I've been on 20 yrs ! Ok bk to the unite the staff are methheads and crackheads. That do nothing but complain about low pay .ppl not coming to work and telling there meth stories, the last thing ,I as a Christian did not want to hear ! Also I received 7 phone calls ,every one of them was told I was asleep because they was to lazy to tell me! There so much going on in there someone needs to address theses issues , Finally when I reached my breaking point with this so called staff I told one of the methheads I wanted to leave, and I wanted my phone call.I was denied 5 x to use the phone ,it wasn't till I said I'll talk to the administration, I got my call 4 hrs later! I had a great L/D experience here. I felt like I was listened to by all of my nurses, and they worked with my doctor to provide the upmost care for me and my baby. I was able to have the kind of birth I had planned on because I feel like all of my nurses were a team, helping me have a positive experience and a healthy birth. After my son was born, my LD nurse came by my room to visit and check on me and my son before she started her next shift. I consider that above and beyond. read more

Couldn't find any other site to post about the food in the cafe' at Floyd Hospital in Rome Ga. food was awesome and the staff is great. Everything looked so good...many choices...ordered the French Dip and it was the best I have had anywhere...puts Arby's to shame as well as any restaurant in the area serving French Dip Sandwiches. 5 Star to Floyd Cafe'....who knew food at a hospital could be so good. read more

Imagine getting told you have a life threatening situation with "the most pain you'll ever experience" and not only do they not prescribe you any pain medicine but after waiting there for 6+ hours they tell you that you need surgery so go schedule an appointment asap because you could die. No further help or explanation. Not to mention the office that performs the surgery is closed on weekends???? Like what they're supposed to just die??? Floyd should burn down. read more

I've been to Floyd many times to be seen for different things during my pregnancy and each and every time it's been a horror show. That being said, considering I have to give birth at Floyd in just over a month, I was kind of hoping that the staff in labor and delivery would be nice at least. Woke up with a small issue today, probably not even anything to worry about but this is my first pregnancy so naturally I'm going to have questions. Called and asked my SIMPLE question and was met with rudeness and sarcasm. I was laughed at and told there was nothing they could do for my problem and I felt so stupid I actually cried when I got off the phone. This is not the kind of attitude I'd like to be met with this close to my due date. As someone who suffers from depression and anxiety, these little moments make me feel so uncomfortable and bad about myself. Hopefully I'm not met with the same rudeness while I'm giving birth. read more

als, I asked the doctor twice, once when he came in and once before he said he was going to do blood work, and then even asked the nurse again before she stuck me. Each of them said the same thing, I would not be charged. I did this because I know all medic centers at their core are nothing more than crooks trying to squeeze every last cent they can from those that come to them for care. Who want's to guess what I received in the mail 2 weeks later? If you guessed a bill, you guess right. At this point was not made or worried. I know things mix ups happen. I calmly went back to the Floyd medical center I went to and cleared it up once again with them saying they would take care of it. Two more weeks pass and I get another bill saying it was now past due and I needed to pay it. This time being a little agitated I called the medical center I went to and had them call in to billing to clear it up. Which they said they would. Let's now fast forward two years, I receive another bill stating that if I do not pay them, they would send me to collections. Now I have a mixture of feelings ranging from anger, to confused and to betrayal. I called Floyd once again to see why I am being charged again for a check up that I got two years ago that was supposed to be covered by the VA. Their answer: We tried and tried to get a hold of the VA for payment and never got a hold of anyone or heard back from them and now it was the patients responsibility. This answer made no sense to me, first because it took them two years to let me know they couldn't get a hold of anyone and two because it took my 3 minutes to get a hold of someone. I didn't have some magical number that only veterans were given nether. I simply typed into google "VA Veterans Choice Program Phone Number". Once I got everyone on the phone together it seemed like the issue was Floyd did their paper work wrong on there side and need to simply fill it out again and then reprocess it. The VA representative said that should do it, the Floyd representative then said ok we will do that, but if we can't fix that part it's still the patients responsibility speaking to me in a disrespectful tone. Two or so weeks pass and I got another call from Floyd saying that too much time has passed and they could not change the paper work and that now the 200+ dollar bill was now solely my responsibility. Which then like anyone I asked the following questions. Why? Their answer because they could not get a hold of them for 2 years. My response, I was was able to get them on the phone in less than 5 minutes. My second question why didn't you call me sooner before it was to late to make changes? Their answer was they wanted to leave it to the insurance companies and leave me out of it. My answer to that was so how is this still my problem. It seemed like you and your people dropped the ball and not me. Their answer was the same... We tried the VA and could not get a hold of them, and now it's the patients responsibility. To which I responded with I wont lie some lewd curse words as anyone would in my situation. As well as ending with something to the effect of this is how you treat disabled veterans at Floyd's? It is now back in the hands of the VA, who says they will take it from there. Frankly Floyd medical center and the rest of money grubbing medical centers are nothing more than scumbags, crooks and thieves. read more

Why would an urgent care facility put a new person at check in on a Saturday. My son and I waited for 40 minutes while she tried to check in one person. There was other staff sitting there and after 40 minutes.decided to assist.the. new person. This was great, finally, but then we were.stuck with the new person and 2 other people who came in after us were already called to the back before my son and I. I understand that new people must be trained, however, not on a Saturday. Ridiculous and I will not ever return. read more

Went to the hospital the other week due to possibly losing my pregnancy (6 months along) and had a less than acceptable experience. I went in obviously having issues and was taken to triage only to be told they didn't have a room available after all and sent to wait in the labor and delivery waiting room which was absolutely CRUEL to do since I had to pass by all the maternity rooms and was left alone surrounded by images of happy new moms and healthy babies. Twenty mins later they came to get me, put me in a gown and blood pressure cuff. They listened to the heartbeat and basically told me to sit there and yell for a nurse if I felt any different. St no point did they put any monitors on me or the baby other than the blood pressure cuff, they did no blood work to try to determine the cause of the issues and left me to sit alone watching "new mom tips" on tv ( again CRUEL since I was t sure I wasn't losing my baby) and checked on me maybe twice in the three hours I was there. The nurse came back in finally and literally said to me "I was eating a snack, don't judge me. We don't know what's going on or caused your issue but follow up with your dr in the morning, you can go". Very unprofessional behavior and apparently no concern for either mine or my bs us concern. read more
