Parking seemed limited at first, but there's more available in the back. Just a tip: be careful not to miss the entrance, since exiting is a one-way street and re-entering can be tricky. We arrived around 6:45 pm and saw a small line with two groups ahead, but the place is much bigger than it looks from the outside and we were seated quickly in a comfortable booth for four. The pub was clean, and I was especially surprised at how spacious and tidy the washrooms were--not what I usually expect from a pub, which tend to feel older and worn. The menu is huge, and TVs are everywhere--even in our booth. Between us, we tried a good range of dishes: 1. Caprese Salad with Steak - nicely balanced with pesto, though the steak was a little dry. 2. Fish and Chips - incredible portion for $18! Crispy, perfectly cooked fish with fries, coleslaw, and even a Caesar salad. The fries were well-seasoned (no ketchup needed), coleslaw was enjoyable despite me usually not liking it, and the Caesar was delicious. 3. Mexican Salad - flavorful, fresh, and generous in portion. 4. Tuesday Wing Special - wings were $0.90 each, so I ordered 15 with a Coke Zero. The garlic Parmesan was disappointing--dry and lacking flavor--but the Buffalo ranch wings were tender and spot-on. Service was friendly, though our waitress could have been more proactive with drink and water refills. Overall, I was impressed. Clean space, huge portions, good value, and a welcoming pub atmosphere. Definitely a solid stop if you're in the area.

Whisky John's Bar & Grill - Paper we unraveled after a few bites into our cheesecake. (It was squished into the actual cake.) Big let down!

This review is of takeout from Whisky John's through Skip the Dishes…read more I felt like a nibbles kind of dinner and after perusing skip the dishes, we kept coming back to Whisky Johns and finally decided to order. We ended up ordering the party platter which includes chicken fingers, chicken wings, jalapeno poppers, spring rolls, mozzarella sticks, veggies and garlic bread. We also ordered a slice of their peanut butter fudge brownie cheesecake for dessert. First of all, never have I seen wings THAT BIG. They're GIGANTIC!!!! And they were mighty tasty too! Mozzarella sticks were still stringy even after the trip from the restaurant. Jalapeno poppers were a nice surprise, not too spicy (but with enough kick!), and instead of spring rolls, there was some kind of pizza roll that was delicious! The garlic bread "was garbage" according to my husband, but you can't have high expectations for toasted bread shoved into a takeout container and eaten 30 minutes later. So, more for me :) It was nicely garlicky and did the job, but I think they could make a substitution for takeout orders to improve this particular item. The dessert was TO DIE FOR, by the time I thought to take a picture, it was halfway gone. Definitely make sure you order one of the Peanut Butter Fudge Brownie Cheesecake. YUM. We'll definitely be back to try some other items; they had a wide menu that could accommodate a lot of people.

My friend -- a Christian, not even Jewish -- was meeting with a pastor for coffee. He was wearing an IDF jacket and a Star of David necklace while discussing a recent trip to Israel. No shouting. No confrontation. No disruption. Just coffee and conversation. An employee called Durham Regional Police. Officers showed up and told him his conversation was "offensive." When asked what was said that violated policy, no one could answer. No rule cited. No clear complaint identified. Just vague discomfort -- and removal. So what exactly triggered this escalation? Not behavior. Not threats. Not harassment. Symbols. And Israel. Calling the police on someone because others don't like what he's wearing or the country he's discussing is cowardly and discriminatory. Businesses don't get to selectively silence viewpoints they don't agree with. And weaponizing law enforcement to remove someone over perceived "offense" is an outrageous abuse of discretion. If Cork & Bean believes visible support for Israel warrants police involvement, they should say that publicly. If they don't, then they owe an immediate explanation and apology. Until management addresses this directly and transparently, this establishment does not deserve community support. Do better.

Wow! I am so impressed that the old run down Park Place has been transformed into a really nice…read morespace with delicious food! My friend and I endured our local dive for years as it declined before it shut down (finally). Now that it has been replaced with this gem, I will be stopping by much more often! The South end never looked (or tasted) so good! Prices are very reasonable and they have some amazing deals like $10 pint and pound and $10 pasta and pint. Check out the menu in my photos. They have a decent draught beer selection and mixed drinks were well made. Our server was absolutely lovely and she let us know all about the new owners and the chef who seems to take pride in his creations. They only use fresh food (never frozen). I had the veal scallopini with mushroom wine sauce and pasta. It was very good! The pasta sauce needed some salt and pepper, but I'm super picky about my pasta sauce. I over spice mine to death! I also had a caesar and a couple of "white freezies" which tasted as good as they sound. The atmosphere is great! Huge booths, beautiful bar, lots of TVs so you can catch the game, a pool table in the back with a digital jukebox and cool colour changing rope lights on the patio. Can't wait to sit out there when the weather is nicer! They even had live music. The washroom is basically still the same boring Park Place washroom with a few small updates, but I'm not there for the washroom atmosphere. Go check this place out!
