Why would you post your hours for your customers and then close early. A total waste of my time.

Honestly this store is so cool and I was pumped shopping and looking thru everything they had. Was…read moreinitially looking for a Willie Nelson's cassette for my car and couldn't find any, but instead I found an awesome Joni Mitchell one instead! I was so excited that it'd get to bring this back with me from Texas back to California! I opened it right now while driving in Arizona and its a freaking Eric Clapton cassette in a Joni Mitchell case. Not like I can return it but just a little disappointed especially since it the only thing I bought.

Great Scott, Mother of Pearl Vinyl has answered my prayers. It's the vinyl shop my heart so…read moredesperately yearned for all these years. Could it be too good to be true? Lately, I've been falling in and out of love with Monticello, but MOPV has restored my affection completely. When it comes to the grand opening of MOPV, I was a day late and a dollar short. One might think: WHY THEY NO DO MORE MARKETING? WHY THEY NO HAVE SOFT OPENING? Because they're too flippin' cool, that's why. Seriously they're the only vinyl shop in EP so they don't really have to market since it sells itself. Sure we have All That Music and a bunch of vintage shops that carry records (don't get me started on Whoopee Bowls ridiculously extensive collection that can be rather difficult to navigate), but this is El Paso's first real deal, all-we-carry-is-vinyl vinyl store. MOPV is tucked away behind Hillside Doughnuts (or is it donuts) in two repurposed shipping containers stacked on top of each other in a somewhat artistically scattered way that actually creates optimal use for both floors. Yes, it's small... but this let's me know that these are business owners with a vision running MOPV, not two kids with a pipe dream and no plan. Half of MOPV is composed of windows, the other half is white walls smartly decorated with the occasional painting. It's a mix of vintage and contemporary without being pretentious, much like the crowd it attracts. The records are separated only by artist name which I absolutely love. It's a small selection obviously, but it got me looking at some different albums that I normally wouldn't stumble upon because I don't spend that much time sifting through that particular genre. And they don't discriminate against current albums. By the looks of it, the owners are on a quest to find albums in good condition for all fans of vinyl. I'm not entirely sure how often they add to their stock, but I'm almost positive that I could go in their week to week and find something new. The listening station! The listening station, man. So cool. A couch circa The 1972 Brady Bunch next to a record player with headphones. Sweet! And they do also have music playing for the store so I'm pretty sure you can make requests based on what's on hand. Not gonna lie, MOPV has been added to my Sunday Funday ritual!
