Parking is available all around the building. The class was a good combination of weights and body exercises. We didn't use the punching bags but they have other classes that do incorporate boxing. The coach was good showing the exercises, everyone seemed to be familiar with the moves so there was no need to explain a lot which worked fine with me. There is one main room with the punching bag area and another area for weights and machines with a turf in the middle. I would like to go back to try other classes.

(Trust me! I've been to quite a few boxing classes all over Miami) 2) Instructor Frands was excellent! The perfect combo of coach who pushes, encourager, someone who cares and is passionate while also professional and funny! Also his knowledge is next level yet he maintains such a humility and grace when teaching. I learned SO much in just 1 class, he never made me feel silly for not knowing - I was actually encouraged to keep asking questions so I can enhance my stance, hand posture and body moments. So refreshing! If anything, I was slightly annoyed that other gyms didn't give the same attention to my movements, meaning I've been doing some things wrong for a couple weeks that could've been corrected if they had the same dedication to teaching true boxing. 3) The community was so kind, being my first time there others were helping me set up (not just at the beginning but throughout the entire class ), talking and laughing with me! There was a kindness that is usually cold in other gyms. as the newbie you tend to come in, and no one even acknowledges you. Not here! 4) The gym itself has a good flow and layout, quality equipment, it's clean and has everything you need to box, lift or grapple! Also I lost one of my wraps, but they had for purchase for $10! But be sure to bring your own gloves! 5) Almost forgot to mention, very key - there is ample parking! Long version: I trained stand up fighting for five years and thought I was more than capable of protecting myself if I needed to. One day I walked into Vagner Rocha Martial Arts and was quickly humbled. Any human can throw a punch, but what happens when you end up on the ground? Combat on the ground is a totally different environment and it is extremely important that you learn how to protect yourself there. I have been training there for close to six years and I am still learning new techniques every class. More important than learning to protect yourself on the ground is the environment that you train in. This place is my extended family. Everyone is here to help and they all treat you with respect and make sure you get better. You will not find any bullies here, only Instructors and students who are going to make you a better person mentally, and physically. Master Vagner is a great instructor, when you come to class you will always find him there. Some other schools only use the instructors name to bring in students but the instructor never shows up. There is a reason why I have been training here so long, it's a great school and if I could have a sparring match against my old self I would destroy me! Do yourself and your family a huge favor, come and train and learn to protect yourself. It is so important to learn how to defend yourself in this day and age. I don't ever want to fight anyone because if my opponent knows even half of what I now know I'm going to be in big trouble. That did not last long as the focus quickly changed from a true competition gym to more of a cash cow and day care. This gym is the SPIRIT AIRLINES of Jiu Jitsu gyms. Pay for the gear they sell at the gym because you can't wear anything else, pay for belt promotions at $100 a promotion per child, $150 "in-house" tournaments which is only disclosed two weeks prior to the first scheduled tournament, $10 admission per person to watch your child compete at "in-house" tournament, no medals just a cheap red shirt promoting the gym. Training and competition class, "intermediate" to say the least and is an additional $150 a month on top of the $250 for a regular membership - then add privates ranging from $100 to over $200 an hour. Locker room and coaches reek of marijuana. There is no parking, you half to cross a major street at rush hour with your children and again at night after class. You will be told by Vagner that the only way your child can progress and win is via competing and privates. However, Vagner himself does not show up for competitions whether local or not, whether to watch or coach. Jasmine will travel if you buy her a plane ticket and put her up in a hotel and drive her to and from the event with no problem. If you are lucky you will have 1 coach for all the kids and that is if he is not coaching his son at the time. No questioning the training or you will be black listed - isn't YOUR MONEY PAYING FOR A SERVICE?! Coach Adrian will harass your wife via text message stating " to put you on a leash or it won't end well." No cross training or you will be given an ultimatum via text to pick a gym, because they claim to know what's best for YOUR child. Yet, they don't fix the mistakes unless you pay for privates. The staff and owners will claim you are family, and that may be true until the money stops flowing, or you don't do as you're told. Vagner, Jasmine and Adrian will even come over to your house to apologize for an ultimatum given then look your child in the face, apologize to them, claim to love them, only to stab them in the back weeks later when Adrian is being sneaky and getting caught by their student holding privates for free while others pay hundreds and when that 3rd person doesn't show up your child won't be included again. But that behavior is acceptable because the Coach's son has a super fight coming up. Know your child's worth and be careful; it is not what it appears to be from the outside. There are many better options for competitive jiu jitsu in Broward and Dade County than VRMA. If you are looking for EXPENSIVE, intermediate training for your children then this is the place for you.

I called ahead and spoke to a woman who told me to come in on Thursday for an assessment class for my son. When we arrived (30 minutes early), I was told it was a misunderstanding, and he could only watch, not participate. I had already scheduled a babysitter for this, so it was extremely frustrating. On top of that, I had to ask multiple times to speak with someone, and when I finally spoke with the main coach, he was incredibly short with me, showed zero patience, and dismissed us without any real explanation or flexibility. For a business that works with children, I would expect much more understanding and adaptability. The entire experience was unpleasant, and I will not be returning or recommending this studio to others.
