This was my first time trying Corsican food, and it was different than the traditional French food I'm used to. It definitely has more of a Mediterranean influence, with more seafood and more spices. Overall, I wasn't blown away by the food here - some dishes were hit or miss, but it's a good value for what you pay. If you get the menu of the day, it's 20,40€ for 3 courses which is good for dinner.
The place looks like it could be someone's home - small, cozy and colorful with lots of pictures of Corisca on the walls.
Starters/Entrees:
- Fish Soup - This is like a traditional onion soup but made with a fish stock instead, it was different! It came with croutons, a fish cream sauce, and cheese on the side. The fish soup alone didn't have a ton of flavor, but it was good when you combine it all together.
- Tarte with Broccoli and Spinach - This comes with a side salad and it's a pretty generous size. It's like a quiche but has less crust. The tarte seemed a little bit burnt on top, but the taste was good.
Plat:
- Pork with an orange sauce & pasta - The pork was tender and the sauce went well with it - I also liked the pasta that came alongside - it was al dente and went nicely with the meat.
- Cod - The cod was served on top of potatoes, onion, and maybe fennel, and had an olive tapenade on top. Then on top, it had slices of lemon and herbs. To be honest, I didn't love the texture of the cod since it was a bit hard and dry. Nor do I really like olives, so overall, this dish was a miss for me.
Dessert:
- Pear with Prunes - This was a poached pear in red wine and licorice. I dont care for black licorice, so I didn't like this dessert very much.
- Flan - The flan was fine, not too sweet which was good, but pretty standard flan.
Overall, I'd probably give this 3.5 stars but it's good value for the price. It was nice to try food from Corsica; wasn't amazed by everything but I would probably try it again if I passed by and saw something on the menu that caught my eye. Wouldn't go out of my way to eat here but it's worth trying if you're wanting to try something new without spending a lot of money. read more
