BUYER BEWARE! DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE…read more We found this builder when my husband and I were looking for a new home after he'd gotten a new job. It was a total relocation thing. We picked a lot, we picked the home design we wanted (I'll call it Design A) from a set of plans. They had a similar house (Design B), however it was significantly smaller. So we opted for the pricier Design A. To make a long story short: 1. Someone (I suspect their "ex-employee" whose name starts with an "R" and ends with a "Y") forged our name on the contract. I dare these b*st*rds to try and prove me wrong. Produce the contract and we'll let a handwriting expert take a look at it. 2. They squeezed our house into the lot to the point that there was no backyard. NONE. It was non-existent. 3. They shrunk the house we paid for (Design A) down to Design B size and expected us to pay the Design A price. 4. They stole our $2,500 deposit when we refused to honor the contract our names had been forged on. They took what should have been a wonderful experience for a young family and made it into a nightmare. These people are unprofessional, dishonest, VIPERS. The only reason we didn't fight them with a lawsuit is because we were under a deadline, low in funds, and living out of a rented house. Having relocated across the state, with small children, a new job, and a ticking clock, we had no choice but to walk away from our deposit. But I don't regret the decision. Again, these people are deceitful and corrupt. If I could give them 0 stars I would. STAY AWAY FROM THEM!

As a contractor myself I was on the site every day to make sure they didn't screw anything up. The real estate agent at the time was Shirley and the woman lied about everything just to make a sale! I caught her BS every time and made her correct mistakes and had her give everything offered IN WRITING! Incidentally, we, the homeowners later got together to sue her for misrepresentation, but she fled to Florida. They tried to cut corners and do shoddy work every day, but I didn't let them. When they started pouring in the basement foundation the contractor doing it wanted to stop and quit early. This would have resulted in a "Cold Pour" which would later cause the basement walls to leak. I told the contractor that I wanted it done in one pour. He got angry so I told him I was going to call the builder right there and and demand my money back so he could keep the house. He bitched and moaned, but I remained there until the job was done. This very petty and poor excuse for a human being left a turd in my basement that we found when I did the walk through. I had other experiences with SK contractors. I consider my house to be the best built in the neighborhood because I was involved throughout the construction process. Other folks had serious problems with their homes such as bad foundations and leaking basements where they had to spend 20 to 30K to repair. Fortunately, SK left the neighborhood and other high quality builders took over. Their houses are as well built as mine without the new owners having to worry about anything. If Steuart Kret is miraculously still in business anywhere, avoid them like the plague!

Had a great experience in here yesterday. I called about bending my engagement ring after smashing…read moremy finger between a table and wall. I had to use pliers to get it off so not only was it bent it also had "bite" marks from me bending it to get it off my finger. I wasn't sure what to expect but I was certain it would never be as beautiful as the day I got it. I called first after doing several Yelp searches near me. I settled in Mount Vernon because of location and positive reviews. I was hoping the fix wouldn't cost too much but the owner was unable to tell me without seeing the ring. He also figured he'd be able to do it on site same day. I walked in around 3 and it was empty. He has a little buzzer and promptly opened the door. I showed him the ring and he said he would be able to fix it in about 30 minutes and for $40. I was shocked. I was so happy to have my ring back. I also asked if he could clean it and he said no problem. I came back at 4 and the ring was ready for me. Beautifully shining and in perfect circle shape! It has never looked better. The ring was bought in NC so I am so thankful to have a trusted jeweler nearby. I also inquired about getting a new wedding band and he showed me a few in shop (he doesn't keep a lot on hand) but also showed me a book with rings he could order. I most definitely plan to do so! This shop has old clocks and such that this man can fix which I think is so special because it's a thing of the past. Overall a great experience and very reasonably priced!

Later I learned that the clock is not adjustable. I left Bulova Divers watch to have the movement repaired. I was charged twice for the repair. I took the watch to a different shop and was informed it needed a new movement. So the repair was apparently not made. I paid twice to have a Ships Clock repaired. I still does not work. I asked for mild compensation and was denied. KJ Park does not guarantee his work.

It had recently stopped working and after a quick on-line search, we selected Maryland Clock and Watch Repair. Nick came to our home the very next day and repaired and cleaned our clock in under an hour. Nick is well versed in not only clock repair, but the history of clocks and their makers. In fact, he informed us that our clock was a Gustav Becker...a first heard for us! Nick will now be our "clock guy.". Thank you, Nick, for your professional and friendly service.

I paid $3200.00 to Maryland Clock and Watch for my antique non-running Herschede grandfathers clock…read moremovement to be overhauled. This clock was handed down to me from my grandfather. Its quite special to me. MC&W had my clock movement for about 10 months. I knew up front that it would take some time. Now back in my possession since Dec 22, 2020, how can this movement still have issues? The moon phase still does not work. I was assured it would after the overhaul. The chimes sound terrible due the hammers and tubes being out of alignment. I will say, it does maintain excellent time which is great, but that is 1/3 of the mechanical function of this clock, and to me 1/3 of the amount I had paid. Also, I did not get pictures sent to me during the overhaul process that I had been promised. When I brought this up I was then told I would get a comprehensive package including pictures with the return of the clock movement. Well, I received an invoice, "warranty" information and clock setting instructions. I haven't any proof that my movement was disassembled and overhauled. No pictures, no detailed information of what exactly what was replaced, cleaned or adjusted for $3200. I have been told more than once I will get a call and an appointment will be made to come out and look at my clock. To this day 4/04/21, no follow up appointment has been made to correct my clock issues. At this point, I have lost all faith in Maryland Clock & Watch. I will go elsewhere for the remaining repairs. I no longer feel as though they are a competent repair shop. FYI - Below is a more detailed description of the issues The moon phase dial will not move. I was assured this would be working. It should rotate to indicate when there will be a full moon. Strings - It doesn't make sense to me why the strings that pull the hammers and the strings that hang the tubes were replaced at my house and not at the shop? Obviously the movement was not tested properly before hand. Well over an hour was spent installing the strings for the hammers and the tubes at my house. Not all five strings, but four of the five strings were replaced by MC&W at my house. I still have one old original string that still remains, three of the new strings installed were provided by MC&W, and the fourth new string also installed by MC&W was "sewing thread"! Yes that's right, my "sewing thread". I was wondering why I was ask for string or thread? This is certainly not correct. The tone and volume of the chimes is not correct, one in particular is hard to hear the striking of the tube. After my inspection I see the hammers are not in proper alignment. Some hammers are resting against tubes, they should not do that. Also some of the hammers strike the sides of tubes and the top edges of the tubes, and again they should not do that. The tubes also are not in alignment to each other which compounds the problem. The tubes do not hang from the hooks at equal lengths. All off this should have already been done, inspected and tested. This is what makes me think that MC&W had someone else service the movement. Who really did the work I wonder? Lastly, any clock that operates with pendulum must be balanced. It is necessary so the clock is "in beat". My clock was never balanced. It was moved into the corner and left that way. It was gaining one minute a day. For weeks I was trying to adjust the speed of an unbalanced clock. I did end up balancing the clock, and now it keeps excellent time. I don't believe there is a clock or watchmaker on the premises at this time. I should have done a better job of seeking out a trained clock maker.
