I was informed by my new employer that I needed a drug screen prior to starting my new position. The closest Quest location to me was Atmed Occ Med @ Atmed UC located on Atwood Ave, Ste 122 in Johnston, RI. Usually, I've been to stand-alone Quest locations but this was inside Atmed Urgent Care. It was easy to locate and there are plenty of parking spots. I went into the building and found Suite 122, there are plenty of signs in the building. I wrote my name down on the sign-in sheet and took a seat in the waiting room. A few minutes later, my name was called and I spoke with a woman. I went to urgent care today in Johnston, Rhode Island on atwood ave, my very own hometown and was completely unhappy with your findings and a total wasted co-pay. Melissa Greenberg, PA shame on you. You did not spend no more than 2 minutes with me and yet still gave me a prescription to cover yourself. why? because you knew something was wrong with me and it was serious but didn't take the time to figure out what it really was. If you go to Johnston urgent care and this PA is on duty don't even be bothered with her. She has no empathy, no bedside manners at all. I have a cyst on my right wrist that causes pain in my whole hand from what I do for work and came to the urgent care here to get a doctors' note so I can take time out of work to have my wrist fixed. They said that my cyst will heal and treatment wasn't needed and wrote a note that I could return to work. I went back to work and my whole hand started to throb, I came back here and the doctor I had the second time knew that had to get get treated and wrote me the note that I needed for work. read more

I had to take my son here because he was complaining of elbow/arm pain and he woke up crying last night of pain so I was nervous it was something serious so I took him here first thing. There was not a SOUL in the waiting room. The waiting room was quite large. The receptionist check in lady was friendly, prompt, and efficient. We were then sent in a waiting room and a medical assistant came and took his vitals and about 10 minutes later Dr. Canchis came in and he kept asking my son questions (like how did it happen- he's 3) and where does it hurt? Not quite sure what that was about considering my son is only 3- but apparently he got the answers he needed. He did a few quick x rays and he came back in the room and immediately started flexing my sons wrist/elbow/arm to the point where he was balling hysterically. Finally my mother kind of yelled what are you doing to him and why- he is in pain?!?! Instead of him explaining he had nurses elbow and that was how to fix it- he just started twisting and bending his arm. Had we known what he was doing we would have felt better and so would my son. His bedside manner was a bit backwards but once we figured out that there was a diagnosis made and this was the only way to fix it- we understood and let him do his thing. He corrected it very quickly and within the hour my son was back to his normal playful self. Staff was rude. It was myself, my son, my mother and my sister & my 3 year old son wanted both me and his grandmother to come with him for the x ray and she was like NO. She could have made an accommodation but they are genuinely rude here. Then we were sick of the stuffy waiting room after his x-rays and there weren't enough chairs in the exam room so my mom (who is sick and on chemotherapy pills) sat in a chair in the hallway with my son and my sister and I stayed in the exam room- within moments another nurse/staff member told us very rudely that we weren't allowed to sit in the hallway? Really? I could see if there were other patients around but like I said there was not a soul in the entire place. So now we had to STAND & wait in the exam room. How about offer an extra chair. So now I understand why the reviews are so poor. There are always individuals with attitude problems in emergency type treatment facilities- because yes it's high stress- we get it- but no need to take it out on patients and their families. If I could I would rate 3.5 stars based on today's visit as the receptionist was really sweet and efficient and knew how to speak to a 3 year old & primarily the fact that we were IN AND OUT within 45 minutes and the doctor resolved the nurses elbow but warned us it may come back & to just avoid anything that has to do with pulling on the arms. For example he likes when me and my sister hold his hands and do 1-2-3 JUMP & he swings- he said things like this would absolutely exacerbate it and to avoid activities like that! I went to Atmed on Atwood ave today after being diagnosed with lung infection. I was prescribed antibiotics and the doctor said to go back if I'm still feeling pain and I did. The nurse on duty was so rude and stupid. I heard them talking about me and I just ignored them but when she came to the room she was so rude. Imagine a healthcare worker telling a patient that they have done all they could I have to go see my doctor next time I feel sick. I was treated like they're treating me for free and like they're tired of me. I've only been there fir the second time was tread like a nobody . I will never step foot in that facility ever again. Please people refrain from going to Atmed on Atwood Ave in Johnston. They're very rude and incompetent. read more

I went for kidney stone pain (I have stones in both kidneys). I was told by the girl who took my vitals to give a urine specimen and undress to go to x-ray. Ok. I come back from the bathroom and wait half an hour. Outside my door I hear the vitals girl and the doctor arguing about me. Nice. So the doctor comes in and says to me 'I can't see kidney stones on an x-ray. All the urologists are closed due to Covid. Take Tylenol or Motrin for the pain.' She wanted me to get a sonogram at another place, which I never did because...TWO DAYS LATER I was in another clinic-this time for a raging kidney infection. It seems this clinic NEVER tested my urine or they would have found out I had the infection. I will never go to this clinic again. read more

Atmed Treat ment center where do I start. You would think in this time of year during the covid pandemic they should be more prepare. I went to go get my covid testing done on Monday morning. They ended up telling me they lost everyones covid testing results. While I am here sick with symptom's of Covid waiting to see if I have covid and I am out of work waiting for my results. My daughter called 2 days ago for me to get a Covid test. I had just came in from FL. They set up a appointment within 20 minutes of the call. My daughters first question was how soon can we get the results. They told her 48 to 72 hrs. I pull up and wait in my spot and called to say I was there as instructed. The girl tells me I am there for workmens comp. I said no covid. I do not work. Ok , she takes her time redoing the paperwork. A girl comes out to do the swab. I asked her how long it will take to get the results. She said 48 hrs. I called tonight when the 48 hrs were up the lady said no it takes 7 to 10 days. I said we were told 48 hours. Why would they blast a stress inducing news broadcast in the waiting room when everyone knows politics is a huge point of contention. My husband was snapped at for walking by one of the blaring TVs and reaching out to try to lower the volume. We were repeatedly told to NOT TOUCH THE TV'S as if we were a group of school children, as opposed to adults in our late 30s, with no idea how to turn the volume down on a TV. So first off let me start by saying the receptionist and one of the CNAs was great. Very efficient and caring and had great customer service skills under the circumstances which is important to health care. I know I worked it for 3 years. Secondly it was the worst experience I've ever had with a doctor. I was prescribed a zpak for symptoms of the flu. I went back a week later worse than I was before and tested positive for the flu and a double ear infection. They put me on tamaflu and sent me on my way. Demanding I do a nasal X-ray I swiftly declined due to the fact that was unnecessary I felt. The doctors at this treatment center will tell you they want all these tests done because it's more about the money. I used to work at North Providence Urgent Care. The medical director would flip shit on the doctors or NPs If they didn't bill for as many tests as possible. They bill fraudulently and over bill for things that were never done. I know this personally because many of the doctors and NPs from NP now work at Atmed. They are shared among many urgent cares. read more

Went today to Atmed in Johnston at 9:30 am. They were busy and short staffed. There many asymptotic people showing up wanting COVID tests. I was taken care of quickly for double eye infection. Treated kindly by all of the staff and doctor. By 10:30 I was out the door. Nice and quick! I love this place! It's always my first choice. read more

This urgent care is HORRIBLEEE. I'm sitting in an exam room as I write this review. I brought my brother in because he has been coughing for over a week. As we're waiting in the waiting room to register, my brother has a few episodes of coughing and the receptionist looked at him each time with this disgusted look on her face and with an attitude told him to wear a mask. We were told over 30 minutes ago he was going to get a chest X-ray and not one single person has come to get him. I can hear everyone laughing and talking. I could understand if it was busy but it's NOT. I work at a very busy high volume urgent care so I would understand if they were busy. They've now taken what feels like years to look the chest X-ray.... this place is just horrible all the way around. Would not recommend this place for anyone especially not children. read more

The only reason I stepped foot in this place is because I had bronchitis and my PCP's office was closed on Wednesdays. The pros: -The receptionist was efficient. She was patient, which is important in the healthcare industry. -The x-ray technician was by-the-book effective and helped mitigate the anxiety one may associate with being irradiated while sick with bacterial bronchitis. The mediocre: -The doctor was crude. I get it, he deals with all sorts of people under all sorts of duress. I give him a pass. The major con: -I had been to atmed once before, when I was many years younger and experiencing anaphylactic shock. They were effective in treating me then. Apparently, I owed them some money from that visit, but they had never sent a bill other than a statement, which I still had, showing my shoddy school health insurance was expected to cover it... Fortunately, they said that they hadn't sent a collection letter yet (to where, I wonder?) so I paid the balance--I owe it, I'll pay it. The fact that I wasn't contacted for several years left me wondering, either they have dreadful fiscal management, or maybe they were trying to rip me off. I doubt they made up the fees, but it would have been nice to receive some form of bill in the meantime. I would have been livid to receive a letter from a collection agency! read more

I'm currently at the walk-In waiting to see a physician about a cold. I registered with check-in personnel and was escorted to an exam room where I've now sat for 55 minutes without being addressed. I finally chased down a CNA who took my vitals. It is evident that they completely forgot about me and now I continue to wait further. This place could not be any worse in terms of care and patient attentiveness. Steer clear of this second rate care. Lord help me. read more

My 18 yo daughter was very sick. She had missed school and needed a doctors's note to keep staying home. So We wait. Then we get to a bed and she gets her vitals taken. We wait. A throat swab. We wait. The Doctor comes in and doesn't even examine her. Says it is Strep throat and boots us out. I just managed to get a scrip for her nausea. Absolutely terrible! I went in to be seen with intense pain and numbness on my right side from sciatica. They gave me steroid shot in my LEFT hip even though the pain was on my right side. They had me lay down for 10 min to let it work itself in, but there was no relief. When the DR handed me my paper work to discharge me the pain was so bad I told him I couldn't walk at the moment and needed to sit. He said "ill get a wheel chair" thinking I could just try to rest for a min so I could relieve some of the pain I waited, then he came over put me in a wheel chair and asked where I was parked! I was wheeled out to my car, and could barely move, he didn't even lift the foot rest on the wheel chair.... just told me "hope you have a better day" and walked away!!! I had to have someone come pick me up because there was no possible way I could drive, and the staff there didn't even care!!!! How is that possible? I could of killed myself or someone else if I hadn't found a ride--- how many people does this "treatment center" do this too? This has got to be Completely illegal! read more

If I could give this place a negative star I would. I went in to this urgent care because I work down the street at a software company and my PCP is in Cumberland. Suffice it to say I needed a quick turnaround. Anyway, my allergies have been out of control for over a week now. I've tried two OTC allergy meds including one with a decongestant to no avail. So I walk in and there's absolutely no one in the office so I think this is great timing on my part. The woman at the front desk brought me back immediately to do all of the computer input of my personal info, insurance, symptoms, and medications that I'm allergic to. So I tell her and she is great. She brings me back to a room and about a minute later a man comes in and I'm pretty sure it was his first day or he wasn't trained well. He asks me why I'm there. So I tell him my symptoms. Then he asks if I'm allergic to medication. So I tell him the meds I'm allergic to. I'm allergic to: amoxicillin and ceclor. (He had to look up how to spell 'amoxicillin'. Immediately, I'm unimpressed. That's a pretty common antibiotic.) Anyway, now I've told two different people in the same place the same exact information within ten minutes. About 20 to 30 minutes rolls by and the doctor strolls in, doesn't look me in the eyes or shake my hand, just asks me why I'm there. This is the THIRD TIME I've had to explain my symptoms. So then she listens to my chest and walks out of the room. That's it. No explanation just walks out. Then about 5 minutes later another person walks in who tells me she's going to take an xray. I'm thinking "okay, wtf am I getting an xray on?". Turns out... my sinuses. (My symptoms = nasal congestion, runny nose, sore teeth and a bit of a cough) The xray takes 30 seconds (no joke) and I'm back in the room. About 10 minutes later the med tech (guy who can't spell 'amoxicillin') comes in and tells me the doc is putting me on a zpack and prednisone. So I ask "why am I going on an antibiotic? Do I have a sinus infection?" He gormlessly looks at my discharge paper and with no conviction in his voice at all says "Nnnooo" I ask, "Okay well then why is she putting me on an antibiotic?" He says, "I don't know. Let me ask." He opens the door and asks the doc who doesn't even have the decency to come in and tell me herself that she's diagnosed me with a sinus infection. She did not feel my face, didn't look up my nose, didn't look in my throat, didn't check my ears, nothing. I wasted my $35 copay on this place and I'm probably going to have to go somewhere else because I don't trust what this woman did. All I can say is the front staff was very nice and competent but competency and patient care ends there. read more

My mother was diagnosed with something which they did swabs for, they told her the wound was getting better, then worse, then better, we came back again as directed and she now has to be transported to the hospital. This place is the absolute worst urgent care I have ever been to. Needless to say if something happens to my mother I will be calling a lawyer. They might want to get their crap together and get doctors who actually know what the f their doing. I am beyond livid. I would never recommend this place to anyone not even a worst enemy. read more
